I'm sure it was, but I would have preferred a straight up Skull-1 version. Come to think of it, maybe we'll start seeing that from Yamato now that they're in repaint mode. Imagine your favorite OG Macross character's schemes on updated birds. I've always wanted to do a custom VF-11 Skull squadron.

I really wanted this at first, but IMHO, they screwed the pooch by not numbering it 001 like Focker's VF-1.

Thanks! In a pinch, my wife's sister is stationed in Okinawa so if they still have it tomorrow when I get ye olde Christmas bonus, I might snag it and ask her to ship it to me.

So, here's my Otakon 2012 Tenjin story: I'm the Co-Head of the Panels Department for Otakon. So, Saturday morning, I'm sitting in Panel Ops along with my wife and daughter (who was cosplaying Ranka) and I look over and see Tenjin san standing there. I then realize that his handler is tapping my wife on the shoulder and asking if they can take a pic of her. I quickly ran around to the other side and got this pic... Awesome to say the least that he wanted a pic of my kid cosplaying Ranka! Later that day, I got to his autograph session and got this one... I asked his translator why there was a single Spitfire pic in the first Valkyries book, to which Tenjin replied that every pic in that book has a meaning Macross-wise. Now I want to go back and look at it again. He was very outgoing, spoke a little English even. And shook everybody's hand after their autograph. Not just the offhand kinda thing, but the handshake where he sandwiches your hand between both of his. All in all, a very nice guy.

Picked mine up today. Here are some thoughts after the first 15 minutes: I like the stand, they kept a similar design to the SMS bases. It also locks into the stand in three different places in fighter mode. Guess they were worried about stability? Smaller than I thought - at least in fighter mode. Reminds me of a Legioss (Alpha) fighter. SOLID little bugger in fighter mode. Nary a squeak or part that doesn't seem locked in tight. While the gunpod does not collapse, it does attach to the fighter in TWO places, making it very stable. So far, a very nice toy.
