1. I don't consider 5'10" to be short. I think the "short" cutoff (for men anyway) is about 5'5" or so. I'm 5'10" myself, and I'm taller than most of the guys I know.
2. I remember seeing an article in some boobie rag years ago. I remember it was a boobie rag because they could actually print the full title of the article.... "The Little a-holes" It was a special about all the little midgety dickweeds in Hollywierd. Namely , Joe Pesci, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, and a few others I can't remember. JSA - The real question about Cruise is "How far could you throw him before the aliens caught him, and returned him gently to the ground?"
3. Cool, that about covers it. Thanks Cap! Note - If you use the bracket that comes with the Fast Pack set, the head mount will sit on that. It won't lock into place, but it will at least sit and not be suspended.
4. I know the transformation sequence is the same, my question about Battroid was mainly regarding the head mount plate. On the standard VF-1, the head plate locks down in between the ends of the groove in the bottom of the fuselage (the head groove). This locks the head into place. With the D, since the upper half of the fuselage (part 10) is longer than the bottom half of the fuselage, the head mount cannot lock down between the ends of the groove in the bottom of the fuselage. So, the head sits on a side to side pivot caused by the rod portion of part 4 (see steps 20 and 21). Hope that helps. Thanks!
5. Cap, can you give some battroid transformation instructions?. When I did my test fit (and also going by Haterist's post) it looks like the head mount plate doesn't have much to attach to in battroid. Also, what do you recommend to tighten up the head pivot (up and down) on the turret axels? Also, it may help in your instructions if you give some glue points for the fuselage halves. Did you glue along the length of the fuselage? And if so, how well does it hold up when you transform, or open the front landing gear? On the standard VF, the gap increases between the fuselage halves when you open the front gear, or when you transform.
6. But, you don't get the in and out on and off lighting functions of the blade with the conversion do you? Chowser mentioned that he would miss them, but the auction doesn't mention losing those functions.
7. So, how bout those instructions Cap?
8. this guy in AZ. Conversion Auctions he's done quite a few so far, so i figured, I'd risk it and send one to get converted. I'll miss the power up and power down lighting effect, but if I can go all out and duel with it, then it'd be worth it. figured I'd at least have something to wear on my belt that isn't a $300+ MR Limited Edition. bought a second Anakin FX that I am sending off to get converted to just see what it's like. 341531 I looked at the auction....what does he mean by Gen4? Is that a newer saber or an older saber? What are the generations and the differences?
9. I have to admit, I was dubious about the FFX Sabers when I first heard about them.... But then I saw one in person, and I haven't been able to get them off my mind since. So today, I finally got me own, I got the Mace Windu FFX, Happy Birthday to me!. I liked the Vader and Anakin, but having studied various sword arts, neither of them lend themselves particularly well to being handled with much efficiency (too much crap on the hilt) However, the Windu hilt is crap free, and very usable. The only thing I don't like about it, is I wish they had put some sort of lock behind the power switch. Since the switch is so low profile, it's very easy to whack it with your thumb in mid-duel, and turn it off. Overall, it ROCKS! And then I came to this thread, and saw that they are making the Double Ended Maul saber....DROOL.
10. Yeah, the one that came with my colored kit was a little gummy, not as bad as some that I have seen. Time will have to do the trick for mine though, cuz I checked my oven, and the lowest it goes is 170. Ah well, I don't have any plans with it until Anasazi is ready for my custom job anyway.
11. Any word on instructions?
12. I like that color scheme on the chest and head. Cool!.
13. Widescreen too! YOU ROCK DUDE!!!
14. Seriously dude, those are sweet. Sweet to the point if needing high res copies so we can use them for wallpaper!...
15. Mostly the small sanding band, but also the small pointed stone. I used a cutting wheel to cut out the undercarriage like Haterist did. One other thing..... I drilled out the molded in verniers on the D kit chestplate, and replaced them with the verniers from my Hikky 1A that I am converting. The verniers are glued in, so just scrape off a little bit of the glue on the inside of the chestplate, and pop the verniers out. IMHO they look much better. The verniers on my chestplate were very shallow. If I had thought about this ahead of time, I would have asked the Cap'n to remove those before he cast his chestplate. It is a very easy switch.
16. Will your set include two consoles?. I just got my kit today, and John sculpted an extra console in the cockpit divider for the D.
17. OK, here goes.... Took me about 3 hours as Haterist said, to trim down the pieces, and do a test fitting. I haven't glued anything together yet, and I have a couple of questions for the Cap'n about this, that and the other thing. All in all, the quality of the kit is AWESOME. One caveat though. For those of you who are looking at your side nippers, and thinking "I can trim that" DON'T. Resin is brittle and even when trimming the sprued pieces off, they snapped off very close to the actual pieces a couple of times. So, be careful. My best friend for the last few hours has been my cordless Dremel. That thing made short ass work of the extra flashing etc. If you don't have one, get one. Anyway, on to the pics.. I haven't put the seats in mine yet, as I will have to follow Haterist's mod to the interiors of the chestplate. But here you go...
18. I got mine today, DAMN these are nice!. I'm working on the non-pigmented kit now, hopefully, I will have pics up by the end of the evening. The cordless Dremel tool I bought has already paid for itself.
19. DAMN that thing looks great! WTF - How did Haterist get his in Tuesday, and he's in NY, 4 hours away from me, and mine hasn't arrived yet. FU USPS!!
20. This is a silly question but...what's a Rio pilot? 340255 RIO - Naval acronym for Radar Intercept Officer.
21. Soooo, where are the mp3 files?
22. I want some - My D's need Rio's too. Recasts of both DYRL and TV pilots would be nice.
23. Any updates Cap?
24. 1 for me please.
