Best Weekend To Hold Mwcon 2006
Mechamaniac replied to EXO's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
15-16 for me. My Wife wants to come out with me this time, and her B-Day is the 18th, so it would be a cool trip. Plus, any later than that gets in the way of Otakon on August 4-6. -
I'd buy an SV-51 if they made one, but I'd have to keep it in fighter mode. IMHO, fighter mode is gorgeous. But the SV-51 in Battroid looks like a stick figure.

I'd like to see both events, MWCon, and SDCC. I don't think I can come out for an entire week though. Ultimately, it depends on whether or not we get Mari to come to MWCon again this year. If she comes, then I'll hit MWCon. If not, then I might just head out for SDCC.

Wow, that one looks damn nice. Yeah, the face and hair are off, but the uniform is awesome.
-
IIRC, Shawn had already had it translated. Hurin, Ali Sama, and Myself all volunteered to help with getting it on DVD. However, much like MW Site updates, Seichi's Store site, and new Admins, I think this one has fallen by the wayside.

oooh wow... 3 girls... one of which we had to pay... Who's D? I dont remember him. 358266 Eternal D....he mostly hung out in the custom room. Or, waitaminnit, was that Goldenboy Forever?
-
That would require effort and resolve. 358085 LOL, almost as good as the "Excuse World" post..
-
Actually, for some, I think it's yet another "jerk off while thinking about AgentONE thread"
-
Gee, whatever happened to Graham talking to Shawn about the nominees, and getting this whole sordid deal worked out.... Guess things still get done in the good old fashioned Macross World way...
-
That's one of them, I wish I could find the pic of Jerry's stuff, it was IIRC, even more impressive than that one. The sad thing about that pic is..... Year 2000 Value - $15,000 Current value - $5000 if that..
-
Nah, we've been over that....his Mom's basement provides ample storage
-
Sounds like you're talking about Jerry Tsai's collection that used to be shown on VF-1X.com back in the day. Since he (like so many) has disappeared off the face of the earth, and the site is no longer, I don't know where you would find it. Unless someone here downloaded it back then.

Yeah, I love that kit, I have one myself done by Ryuji, it's just gorgeous. Something tells me that if the real Minmay had legs like that, Hikaru would have had a MUCH easier time making his choice between Misa and Minmay.

Hey now, there were 3 chicks there last year!. Let's see, we had D's GF, Hurin's GF, and Mari. So, not a TOTAL sausage fest.

"classic" Movies That You Piss On
Mechamaniac replied to Agent ONE's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
YOU like Jimmy Stewart!??? Next you are going to tell me you like the Mets. 357103 You should give Jimmy Stewart some major respect. The guy walked away from a lucrative hollywood career when WWII started and flew B29 bombers in combat, only returning to film when the war ended. Show me any actor you worship today that would do that. Van Damme or Arnold? ha 357579 Yup, and he stayed in the Air Force, eventually retiring as a Brigadier General. You don't get good old fashioned patriotic movie stars like that anymore. These days, they're mostly a bunch of whining left wing chumps who pick some obscure cause and put their name on it so it looks like they care about the little people. -

Not many women can take that movie, I love it though. That movie made the song "I'm singin in the Rain," a cool song. 357423 I also loved the Milk Bar. -
Yeah, I was really surprised when I came out last year for MWCon, and heard a snippet on the local news that the median house price in Orange County had reached $600 grand. Hell, I live on the opposite coast, and houses are at least that expensive around here. And that's for somebody else's already lived in stuff. Anything new, and you're looking at at least $750K to start.

Easy Rider I wholeheartedly agree with "Easy Rider", I for one was happy to see those dirty, drug smuggling hippies get blown away at the end. I'm not a fan of the rednecks that did them either, but given the choice between gap-toothed, inbred redneck and pretentious, "I'm better than you because I'm rebelling......man" hippie, I'll take the redneck any day. Few things in the world make me happier than a dead hippie. Come to think of it, "Easy Rider" winds up with two dead hippies, so by that logic, it could also be considered a GREAT film....hmmmm, now I have a conundrum. Blade Runner I'm right there with Graham and the few others who prefer the narrated version of "Blade Runner". Blade Runner is an all around great film IMHO, when served with the correct side dishes like the narration. Sans narration, too much is left out of the film. And I totally agree with the comments about Roy Batty, his final scene steals the entire movie. Matrix Overrated crap. Never liked any of them, not a single one. Tarantino Overrated crap. Agreed with whomever said they hated his stuff. I suppose these days that working in a video store, watching tons of movies, ripping off the best scenes of all of them, and inserting lots of pointless "banter" dialogue can make anyone a great director...meh. Titanic Another conundrum....a horrid movie, but we get to watch overrated actor extraordinaire Leo DiCaprio die, so in one respect, it blows, in the other respect, a GREAT film. Odd that so much discussion has gone on about Blade Runner, and yet no discussion about the equally lauded/hated and numerous cuts of DUNE. I for one, prefer the version they always show on TV with the scenes that were left out of the DD Laurentis version that we got on DVD here in the states. IMHO, DUNE suffers the same fate as Blade Runner, viewed in the correct format, it's a great film, but minus one small element, and it becomes painful to watch. And I won't even start on that craptastic miniseries they made. -
I'm definitely coming again this year. On the request end of things, if you guys could plan it sometime around SDCC, or AX or something else that would rock. I'd love to have more than one reason to head out to Cali again. (Other than F&S of course)

Pre-painted Cutaway Space Battleship Yamato
Mechamaniac replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I just got the SOP Yamato for Christmas from my Wife, and that thing is probably the coolest toy I have seen in a LONG time. Yes, it's spendy, but it is SO worth it. -
Holy Crap! I cannot wait to get mine now!
-
Those are very nice. Now, just use Photoshop to make the Boosters the correct length, and it will be awesome!
-
Strangely enough, I have seen that video too... I never got to fire Ma Deuce when I was in the Army, but I did get to fire it's short, fat little cousin, the MK19. Think same gun, but different ammo, it fires 40MM grenades.. I wonder what the Katana would have done to 40 mike mike?
