Here are a couple I made from the Tenjin's Valkyrie book...I'm sure Alpha could work wonders with the stuff in that book. 1280 x 800

Well, the monster in his BMP is canon, whereas the one in his avatar is from the CG Monster that someone did a couple of years ago. So, technically, the guns on the avatar are too long.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Mechamaniac replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Heh, that's what my wife always says to me when she wants me to get off the couch and do some housework. Graham 364922 LOL, that rocks. My wife got a kick out of that, now she can add it to her arsenal. I'd love to see one of the Military Garlands, but hey, after 20 years of literally dreaming about this toy, I'm elated to get Shogo's ride.- 1056 replies

Well, widescreens get kind of tricky. I'm using 1280 x 800. There's not too many cool desktops out there for that res, especially anime themed.

ALPHA - Nice to see you back around the forums! Those are sweet! BTW - what's the size of the PSP screen, I am wondering if any of those can be re-sized for use on widescreen laptops?
-
You guys have also forgotten to mention that the Zentradi apparently (and conveniently) brought along several Zentradi sized objects with them (in their sparse battlepods) when they attacked the concert hall. Zentradi forks and plates - To make the makeshift cell. Zentradi sized bottles of booze and glasses Zentradi sized chicken (or turkey) legs. I didn't know there were Zentradi chickens...

I thought the Krylon fusion was a dye, not a paint?. At least that's what people were saying a while ago. I didn't think it would chip off like paint does. But hey, consider it realistic weathering. SUPER NICE job Haterist!!

Sorry, but a new Macross OVA or series just scares the hell out of me after Macross Zero. Given Kawamori's recent offerings, it's clear that he has rounded the bend from "cool as hell Mecha designer" to "Tree hugging hippie freak". A new Macross series would almost certainly revolve around some sort of mystical plant that gives the protoculture their power, and how stupid mankind is to fight wars that destroy this mystical, life giving plant. Or, he could just have all the characters sitting around doing bong hits all day. Worse yet, we could get Macross Zero all over again. Nice start, no real finish, story lines out the ass left hanging.

Nope, never there in the anime, just there to trigger the missile release.

True, but I'm not one of those guys. I free my toys from their cardboard prisons as soon as I get them. I have to say that I don't get the MISB mentality at all. Yeah, hell, the whole conversion kit was my idea, so It would have been pretty cruddy of me to bash the Cap. Especially considering that I couldn't have pulled off that kit in a thousand years. I'm pretty good at modifying, but scratch building???.... All in all, I love my D kit. I just wish I would stop running out of paint. Damn Tamiya flats, they look SO good, but you waste 2/3 of the can because they come out in such a fine mist.

Wow, who knew there was so much enmity towards "the toy guys" Speaking as a "toy guy" I buy them because I just don't have the time to sit and sand and fill and putty and kitbash for hours and hours in order to make a decent looking display piece. Note, I did not say that I was not willing to do so. I can do all of those things, and am currently finishing one of the D kits......myself (shocker, we're not all unskilled morons ) I'm not opposed to models at all, but, I happen to like the size of the 1/48 and the fact that it is mostly complete. You can tweak them to be sure, but it's not always necessary. And, when you have small children (who just LOVE to pick up itty bitty parts and run away with them) and no work room, Toys seem like the way to go. Case in point....if I had a dollar for every time my three year old has run off with the pilot figs and the seats from the D conversion kit (while my itty bitty pea sized "toy guy" brain was trying to figure out how to make them work in the cockpit) I'd have enough to pay for the kit all over again. Not to mention that I'd hate to become one of those Model guys who has piles and stacks of models...more than they could ever complete in a lifetime, but always saying...."one day, I'll get to them". EDIT - So, John's sworn off of toy conversions eh?. Cool. My second D kit just quadrupled in value.

I'm not sure why. The 1/48 YF-19 Club M model is only about an inch and a half longer than the 1/48 VF-1 toy. 1/48 Mac Plus valks are totally do-able.
-
Pat, does the VF-11 still transform?
-
I love that....classic Bill and classic Stewie!.

Macross - Proper Engrish Pronunciations
Mechamaniac replied to ghostryder's topic in Movies and TV Series
Or so we all thought, until Yamato released the 1/48 Miria Fallyna Jenius VF-1J... Then the debate raged all over again... 361839 I prefer Mil F. Jenius. 361844 LOL -

Shatner is the coolest. I assume everyone here has heard my personal "Shatner is the bomb" story? This is slightly old news though, I read about the intent to do this a while ago. Besides the money is going to charity so it's all good.

Eine minute bitte.... Did you paint that at all? or just remove the brown from the chestplate and the wings?
-
But, at least they pronounced Macross correctly.
-
Funny, I had always assumed (since my Robotech days) that the echo was just an effect of their booming voices emanating from 50 foot bodies. The echo effect to portray them speaking Zentran makes sense. Except that their voices still carry that echo when they are actually speaking Zentran in DYRL. Muh vs. Mah I totally agree with Keith. The commentary has the director saying MUHcross one minute, and MAHcross the next. And then, in the first epsiode, we see Minmay's uncle do the same thing. He says something about "Looking up at the MUHcross" and then when Global and the Mayor drive by, he says "There go some more MAHcross bigwigs". MAKE UP YOUR MIND! Of course, it should be noted that I have met several Macross fans, both die hard, and casual over the years, and heard both pronunciations of Macross from die hards and casual fans alike. So, it could be said that the characters each had their own way of pronouncing the word as is human nature. I think that is how I will have to rationalize it to be able to sleep at night. However, the logical side of me says that when you have all the source material that ADV has access to, plus an ORIGINAL voice actor, who no doubt pronounces it correctly (not to mention that, as JBO pointed out, it's in the goddamned theme song) you would get at least the title of the series correct. I HATE ROY I know Roy is supposed to be a hard-drinkin' womanizer type (on the surface) but this guy makes him sound like Randy Macho Man Savage. Funny too that in the commentary, the director says he had the VA for Roy picked out, and the guy had been wanting to play Roy all his life, and was really excited to do it. Funny, you'd think he'd have wanted to do it accurately. Oh well, at least we only have to put up with him until Episode 18. PS - The only thing I like about Roy is the lascivious MmmHmms and oh yeahs that he mumbles to himself while checking out Minmay. That is classic Roy. Slanging it up Some of it is OK. While I did actually laugh out loud when Global made his "This ship is a piece of ...." comment, I immediately disliked it. If Global was one thing, he was a damned good Captain, and NO Captain will ever make a comment about that in front of his crew.....EVER. The various sh!t's etc don't bother me as they were in the original. I am a little put off by "frickin" especially coming from Hikaru. I mean let's be realistic here. The only one who should be (and currently is) cussing like a New Yorker is Roy because he's actually American. Granted, Roy is currently overacting worse than Shatner on his best day. The Director did not admit to it in the commentary, but I think they are trying to cash in on the whole "Meet the Parents/Fockers" craze with regards to the various times they mention Roy's last name. In the scene where Roy takes Hikaru and Minmay to Hikaru's racer and slams on the breaks, Hikaru actually shouts "Jeez, what the heck is wrong with you FOCKER?!" I think they Fockerized 'em. All in all, It's good. Mari and the extras make it worthwhile. And hey, the cover art so far is WAY better than that sh!t AnimEigo threw at us with their release.
