SWEET! Nice, how did you make the walls and floor?

1. Paramount needs to stop milking the cash cow, and let the series lie dormant for a decade or more. After that, if the fans demand it come back (like they did in the late 70's) then let it come back. Thanks to that dormant period, we got the greatest ST movie of all time Wrath of Khan. 2. Star Trek fans who decried Enterprise at first (and rightly so) need to boycott the piece of crap instead of watching it, and being "happy that there's a Trek series on the air". This is a personal quote from a friend of mine who is a member of a local Star Trek geek club, they all hate Enterprise, but watch it nonetheless because it carries the Star Trek title. 3. LET KIRK STAY DEAD!!!!! - Noone wants to see Kirk come back more than SHATNER. This was proven in the books that he [cough]wrote[/cough] after Generations where Kirk gets cloned etc etc. CRAP!. Let him do TJ Hooker conventions from now on... 4. If in ten year's time, it has been forgotten, then let it go...

Anybody Following Gundam Seed?
Mechamaniac replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You actually prefer the digisubs over the professional DVDs? Ok...to each his own..... Well, digisubs = free which = a good way to see the series, and decide if you want to buy it on DVD. This is important because DVD Release = Probably 200 bucks. Also, this way, we get to see it before Cartoon Network gets their hands on it, and chops it into oblivion. -
Anybody Following Gundam Seed?

Do you know what episode they cut off at? I'm up to 46 now of 50. -
So, I'm up to Episode 46 as of last night, and per some of the Gundam websites, it's supposed to run until 9/27 and complete at 50 episodes. Anyone watching this series? I have to say that it's my favorite of the AU series so far. At first, I thought it was pretty much retelling the original Gundam series, but the more I watched, I get the impression that it takes at least one major element from each of the UC series, and folds it into the plot. Here's what I have noticed thus far... Archangel - (White Base II) - MS Gundam. Gundams developed on Heliopolis (Supposedly Neutral Colony) - Gundam 0080. Bloody Valentine - (Nightmare of Solomon) - Gundam 0083. Coordinators and genetic manipulation - (Newtype labs) - Z I think, and definitely Char's Counterattack. Lacus Clyne - (Aina Sakhalin) - Gundam 08th MS Team Lacus winding up fighting beside Bartfeld - (Aina and Shiro) - Gundam 08th MS Team. Bartfeld surviving his Bacow being blown up, but losing limbs etc - (Shiro Amada) - Gundam 08th MS Team. I also think the producers are trying to send a pretty clear message regarding the war in Iraq. The new issue of Newtype expounds on this theory a bit without really saying it. But they mention how the Earth Military cites Aube as being "Either with us or against us". Kind of sounds familiar given the events of the last couple of years eh?. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of stuff, but was wondering if anyone else noticed this... Anyway, 3 or 4 more episodes left in Japan I think...

Let me tell you my airsoft tale of woe.... BTW - I should preface this by saying that I have probably received more firearms training than most people that are not in some specialized field like Special Forces, or SWAT etc. I have done both Military and Police work in my time. I was stationed in Misawa, Japan for two years. It did not take me long to find the shop that sold the airsoft guns naturally. I had a really smashing replica of a Beretta SMG complete with the nylon BB's that load into fake brass rounds, that loaded into a real magazine etc. This was early airsoft, so you had to operate the bolt each time to cycle a round and fire it, but I liked it all the same. I lived in a barracks room on the first floor at that time. And one day, I sat happily in my barracks room plinking empty mountain dew cans from my bed while watching the TV. I had the curtains open, and the window as well as it was a lovely spring day. Apparently, some Air Force puke who had no idea what was, or how to use an actual firearm was walking by and quite unknown to me, saw me with the airsoft, and decided to call the SP. As I said, I was quite unaware of this fact until I heard a knock at my door. "Come in" I replied, and from outside the door, I heard the muffled command of "Step outside the door!". I opened the door, and peered out to see four Air Farce (and yes, I said Air Farce) SPO's with their weapons drawn, and backs flattened against the wall next to my door. One of them asked if I had any weapons, to which I replied quite correctly "No." He asked if he could come in, I agreed, at which point they saw my coiled blued steel airsoft beauty, and informed me that they would have to confiscate it. I did not really object. The funniest part is that I was summoned up to HQ the following week, the airsoft had been delivered to my First Sergeant for safe keeping. I didn't get in any trouble since up to that point there was no regulation concerning the possession of airsoft guns. He instructed me that I had to send the airsoft home, or discard it. I opted to send it home, and it was given back to me. Now, the funny part is that when it was given back to me, it was mysteriously missing about half of the nylon BB's that it came with. Given that the property receipt was dated by my HQ the day it was confiscated, I can only deduce that my First Sergeant, Battalion XO and Commander were quite enjoying my toy gun while they had it Sad part - I sent it to a friend of mine for safekeeping, and he managed to break it before I got home .

If he has that kind of talent, can he make us an Yamato representatives read here affordable Valk pilot's helmet?

But then the video wouldn't be half as funny Or would it??
-
OK, check out the link, it's funny as hell... http://clanid.gamedaemons.net/id.swf But after watching it for the fifteenth time, I realized some commonalities in the video. California Kids playing anime card game Kids with airsoft rifles... Macross Worlders perhaps?. If not, then this was just a cheap plug so that you would all watch the vid, and laugh hopefully as much as I have. Yeah, this probably screams longest thread but since we don't seem to have one yet...

I guess I'm the odd man out here... The only 1/60 I have left is the VF-1D, and that's only because it is the only version of the toy available. I never was really fond of the 1/60's though I had them all. When compared to the detail they put into the 1/48, the 1/60 is just too small a platform to due the Valkyrie any real justice. For instance, the head sculpt, and lasers especially on the 1/60 1S is horrible. I keft my 1D, so I can pose it next to the Monster and Q Rau. I also did not pre-order the ostrich and elint because experience has shown me (as I have sold off my 1/60's) that unless by some fluke they are extremely limited in release, like the Bandai M&M's, you can pick them up MUCH cheaper than their pre-order price if you are willing to wait 6 or 8 months. I for one am betting that Yamato will continue to milk the 1/48 line the same way they did the 1/60. I would be very surprised given their high value to adult collectors, if they did not make a two seater variant or two.

Even the pics of the remastered stuff don't inspire me to buy the renewed version. I mean, NGE is a pretty recent anime series, so the quality of the animation was good to begin with. I mean, it's not like we're talking 20 year old beat up Macross footage here. Evangelion was released in 1995 after all!.

Sweet! Can't wait to get mine!

Yamato/Toycom Transforming Escaflowne Figure
Mechamaniac replied to Angel's Fury's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's been delayed several (and I mean several times since about 2001. But last we heard, it's on track for a November release this year. -
I beg you, please please have Graham show these to Yamato so that maybe the rest of us will get a chance to have them one day!.
-
Glad I decided to pass on these... If Yamato doesn't do them in 1/48 then maybe I'll pick em up in a year or so. But these are far too detailed and have far too many features to be crammed into the 1/60 platform. Probably why I got rid of all my 1/60's. Too small, not enough room for detail.
-
Do what I did, get rid of the inferior 1/60's, and stick to the 48's!

Which Macross (series or movie) do you think......

Yeah, imagine Guld's flashback as the scene from Blade Runner where Deckard is using the ESPER to scan the picture he found in Leon's apartment. Your mind remembers every single experience it has ever encountered. Everything your eyes have ever seen, is stored somewhere in the deep recesses of your brain. Guld needed a trigger to take him back to those images that he saw when he attacked Myung. He may or may not have actually looked in the mirror when he attacked Myung, the mirror may or may not have been there. The point is that when he thought he had destroyed the YF-19, his mind triggered the images from that experience, and he was able to explore them to some degree subconsciously.

In my best Marge Simpson voice... It's bliiisss!

Hmmm, a court martial, but with mitigating circumstances that he saved the entire world. Cut to Isamu and Myung in a small shuttlecraft, whirring along the desert flats of Eden towards the new Edwards base. Isamu: The bureaucratic mentality is the only constant in the universe, we'll get a VF-4! Myung: I'm counting on the YF-22 Yang: The YF-22!? Why in God's name would you want that bucket of bolts? Isamu: A valk is a valk. Myung: Whatever you say, Thy will be done. The shuttlecraft whirs to a stop in front of a large hangar with it's doors standing open. Isamu and Myung gaze out the window of the shuttlecraft in time to see a large elevator rising out of the floor of the hangar bearing a gleaming new fighter. On the side of the all too familiar fighter are the freshly painted letters designating it YF-19-A Isamu: My friends.. We've come home.

But a torn shirt, a damn near rape, trying to kill a guy twice, and lying about it makes you a scumbag.
-
Looks like we have another question to add to the all time list of unanswered questions: What happened to Hikaru, Misa, and Minmay? Was Max a traitor in DYRL? How did Max kill that Zentraedi guy in space? What's better, Coke or Pepsi? and finally.. Did Guld actually rape Myung?
-
I also find that a common misconsception. Guld did not rape Myung. He saw himself after he ripped Myung's clothes, and you also see Isamu holding Myung with tattered clothes. There was no rape. There's nothing that says that he stopped when he saw himself in the mirror. They don't show you what happened after that other than Isamu holding Myung in her torn up clothes, so you don't know how much further Guld went before Isamu stopped him.
