  1. You'd have to go pretty far to get branded a geek on an internet message board where we discuss the minutiae of a 20 year old Japanese cartoon. In short - people who live in glass houses.....
  2. Alas, that is impossible with the spindly 1/48 hands.

    VF-0 toys?

Actually, I think the common belief is that the VF-1 is already in production at the point that Mac Zero takes place, but it is mainly being produced for the UN Spacy. The VF-0 is the test bed for the next generation of variable fighters, sort of like project supernova, but 40 years earlier. As to what someone said about the VF-0 being larger than the Mac Plus valks, is there a canon source for that?. I haven't seen any dimensions on the VF-0 yet, but I would strongly doubt that it is larger than the YF-19 or YF-21. Remember that in Mac Plus, we see Isamu's YF-19 holding up a VF-1S like a dummy in front of it, as a shield, and it is quite a bit smaller than the YF-19.
  4. Thus the decline of anime began. Just the cover art makes it look more like one of those DIC cartoons from the 80's like Inspector Gadget etc. Thanks for suffering for us A7. Since you threw yourself on this grenade, others need not suffer.
  5. They would be better off selling patterns.
  6. Yeah, in Japan, an XL is probably a 32 inch waist, and 38 inch chest.

    VF-0 toys?

Yes, we just don't know when. It's a pretty safe bet that it won't be until they have milked the VF-1 line until that cow shoots dust.
  8. Well, he started off pretty strong, Greystoke then Highlander etc, they are, if nothing else, cult classics. But after Highlander, it all just went downhill.
  9. HARO! That's what I want, but no, not the original Haro, but the Gundam SEED Haro. I want like 20 of them floating around chirping at me in Japanese, except for when they say HARO! of course. That way I can swing a bat in any direction, and be guaranteed to smash one of the little phuckers. Except, unlike Lux Kleine, I wouldn't call them Pink Chan, or Green Chan etc, it would have to be more colorful names, like I'd have each one named after one of the seven words you can't say on television.
  10. What A7 said, but with my own personal DIS-favorites added: In the category of "What won't Christopher Lambert do for money?": Fortress Beowulf
  11. My dad has a Norinco M-14 that is a real gem actually. Of course, only the receiver is original, he has had the rest replaced, but it shoots like a dream. And yes, on the issue of Colt. I shelled out big bucks for a Colt Combat Commander .45 ACP a few years ago, and not 200 rounds into it, the spring part between the slide stop and the safety came flying off, and wound up halfway down range. Yay Colt, I traded it off shortly afterwards, and got a Sig P220.
  12. You have to be careful with those too good to be true cheap HK's. A friend of mine bought one at a gun show, the lower receiver was more or less normal, but the upper receiver was made out of this shitty pig iron looking material, it had the outer consistency of poured cement, and I would not have been surprised to find out that it was molded, not stamped.
  13. Well, it used to be that the AK would be your best option due to price. I bought my AK for $ 200 bucks back in the day. Of course, after the Democrats in Maryland passed their infernal "we don't like the way they look" ban, the price skyrocketed, and I sold it for a grand a scant two years later. So, accept the fact that the rifle is going to cost you at least a G for an AK, and probably closer to $1500 or $2K for an M1A, or a G3. Most of those AK's are el cheapo Norinco chinese specials, and not actual Soviet made models so caveat emptor. Then you have to take other things into account. The M1A is a super fine weapon ,but is basically a semi auto version of the M14, so you get a 20 round box mag, a nice long barrel, super bedding in the stock etc etc, making it a fine long distance weapon. Add on another G for a nice Springfield Armory scope, and you're in business. The G3 on the other hand is one of those "evil assault rifles". It's all black and scary and has a pistol grip with a magazine in front of it. Accuracy will be less because the M1A is (at this point) pretty much standard built for national match rifle shooting. The G3 on the other hand is essentially a big bore battle rifle. My personal preference would be the G3. Taking caliber into consideration. The 7.62 X 39MM AK round is cheaper to buy in mass quantities, and shoot. However, most of that ammo is berdan primed, which means you could not reload it and reuse it. Also, ballistically, the 7.62 x 39MM is about the same as your granddad's old .30-.30 Marlin deer rifle. 7.62 x 51mm NATO on the other hand is more expensive, but a larger bullet can be fired because you have a larger case to pack more powder into, hence it is a more powerful cartridge. Add to that that it can be reloaded, and reloaded with a variety of bullets means you have a more versatile platform to begin with.
  14. As a former M60 gunner, I can say that I would prefer a better made, higher caliber weapon like the HK G3. Give me a moderately large rifle that shoots a man's bullet. I don't need light, I can heft whatever you give me, and have done so many times. Nothing like being ordered to advance (which means run), and give suppression fire when you're humping a belt fed machine gun that weighs 28 pounds by itself, and you can only hold it with one arm, because you need the other to properly feed the ammo belt. Now, the FN-FAL is a bit too long for me, but I would take an HK G3 chambered in 7.62 x 51MM NATO over that glorified 22 that is the AR15 any day. I don't have anything against the AR15 design, well, yeah, I actually do... Like the ultra flimsy gas tube, and itty bitty loseable pins that you have to dick with to field strip it. Compared to the AK-47 or 74 which can be completely field stripped by a chimpanzee in about 3 seconds flat, and driven over by a truck, filled with mud, and will still work. Now, that is a whole other issue, the AR-15 is a quality weapon which encounters problems due to it's small parts and design inherent vulnerabilities, whereas the AK is a mass produced stamped metal workhorse. And then there's the issue of military doctrines, better trained US Army with a better weapon vs a conscripted Soviet army with a mass produced weapon. In the end, I will probably never have to fire another shot in anger using one of these rifles, but if the balloon goes up, and it's me vs the local warlord who wants to bugger me or my wife and kids, I'd rather have the big caliber weapon, so I can blow him away further away, or blow parts off of him up close.
  15. Do we need to create an "Agent ONE talking crap about himself thread"? Next thing you know, you'll be referring to yourself in the third person too.
  16. I like EVA, but I do think it's overhyped a bit. Some guy once told me, "dude this is soooo deep, you have to watch it 5 times to get all the nuances". Ok, so how come I understood it all after watching the series just once?. Yeah, the story is deep, but that is common in Anime, I guess, being a Patlabor movie aficionado, I am used to the deeper plotlines, so Eva was no big surprise for me. The last two episodes of the series sucked, not that they were incomprehensible, it's that (as someone mentioned before) they were so drastically different from the rest of the series. You go along, 24 episodes or so with typical one episode plot lines slowly evolving the long term plotline, then BAM, two episodes that are completely different from the rest of the series. I remember watching the whole series, thinking it was really good, and staying very interested, but then the last two episodes came on, and about ten minutes in, I was like "ooh kitty!, come here kitty". Point being that the last two episodes just don't fit with the rest of the series, so any other distraction in the room pulled me away. I am not a fan of organic mecha, but it made sense for the series, so that was cool. The size of the Evas was a bit too overdone though, and not very consistent. In some of the episodes, they would show an Eva standing next to a building, and having it be just about Gundam scale in height compared to the building (typical giant robot stuff). But then they give you EoE, where the Eva's are shown being what could only be described as hundreds of feet tall, with an entire forest being mere ankle depth for them. Don't get the whole Asuka, and Rei thing - but I'm not into kiddie porn, so that makes sense. But Misato was my girl, loved her all the way through, was sorry to see her go out so bad. I don't agree with what some have said about EoE "dumbing down" the ending for some. I just think that EoE FIT better with the rest of the series, and as such (in certain areas) made more sense.
  17. Yeah, they don't call it EscaFLOWne for nothin .
  18. Sorry, but cartoon chicks just aint cuttin it for me. If you find yourself whacking off to anime chicks, you have some serious issues. Anime porn, gimme a break, just keep my robots big, and my storylines convoluted, that's all I need.
  19. You know it just hit me. She outranks you, Danny. I want to tell you something Danny and listen up 'cause I mean this: You're the luckiest man in the world. There is, believe me gentlemen, nothing sexier on earth than a woman you have to salute in the morning. Promote 'em all I say. If you haven't gotten a *radio edit* from a superior officer, you're just letting an opportunity pass you by.
  20. Riight, but there's something more specific in there. Like a bone fragment or tooth? Yeah, a bone can clearly be seen. Creepy! Take it away J A Dare
  21. Riight, but there's something more specific in there.
  22. Yeah, Hikaru is pretty dense. Why he would ever want to date that worthless insipid GIT Minmay is beyond me. She's an absolute moron in the series.
  23. EXACTLY!!! That's waht I was going for. Kinda of a killer clown kind of thing. LOL, Insane Clown Posse valk! I wonder how it will hold up under transformations?.
