  1. That would be very classy if someone did it. Wouldn't recasting pretty much ruin the original kit? But, I guess if they made enough kits, they would make their initial investment and then some. Time for me to learn how to recast. And win the lotto so I can buy an original kit... MOD MODE ON Remember that Yamato does come to our little corner of the internetz once in a while. I know the kit is ridiculously expensive but please don't openly advocate the outright theft of their work. Thanks. MOD MODE OFF
  2. The pilot figure will be a Hokkaido only exclusive figure. You'll have to drink 10 gallons of melted Hokkaido snow, pee in a bottle, and send it to Yamato for verification. Once verified, you will be entered into a lottery for a chance to win 1 of the 3 pilot figures being made. If you win the lottery, the pilot figure will cost 80,000 yen.
  3. Man....that is almost totally worthless. It might as well be in Klingon. Here's my version... It is ridiculously costing without concern to dollars how much make. Today is the day of the Otaku. If the Otaku dispense with food eating, and payment of rent to land lord and agreeance to work buy light of wax torch and utilize coffee can for poops...can affordable for great justice. Unit is expecting to movement in excess of quantity: 2.
  4. Probably just the pastel, overly rounded, uber cartoonish crap done by Tommy Yune.
  5. *sigh* And I was so looking forward to "What's Wrong with Your Regult" threads.
  6. Since we're just pissing into the wind...sure, I'd love to see one. But until they make one that doesn't look like ass in fighter mode I don't think they should waste their time or our money. The Fire Valk is damn near a totally different design than the standard 19 so lauding the improvements we've seen based upon the WF prototype against prior iterations of the 19 isn't really saying much. You're basically comparing Jetfire from the TV series to the repackaged Bandai 1S that became the Jetfire toy. The basic problem with a 19 that looks good in all modes (especially fighter for me ) is that we're dealing with anime magic and that may not be easily overcome despite Yamato's advancements in engineering. And let's not forget that while they may be making leaps and bounds in "designing" a better toy, they're still sucking wind on "producing" a better toy. I wouldn't want a 19 that looked fantastic and shattered if I tried to transform it.
  7. It's so FLUFFY!
  8. If you look at the first pic that shows the lineart card. You can see in the middle line "60cm" Not sure if that's Cruiser or Storm Attacker mode but either way, that puts 1/3000 scale at damn near 2 feet according to my convertbot. 60cm = 1.968504 ft
  9. Remember him from Otakon last year or the year before. Seemed like a nice guy. R.I.P.
  10. My wife and I watch the show and make jokes about how little they're going to offer people for a given item but I wouldn't exactly call them swindlers. Sure, they lowball people, but that's the name of the game and they make no bones about it. They tell people right up front that they're going to have to do X and Y in order to sell the item in question etc. ALL pawn shops prey on people who are short on cash, these guys are no different. Another thing to keep in mind here is that it's Vegas so probably half of what's in their store was/is obtained from people who've had bad luck at the casinos or people out of money who just don't want the party to end. I watch it to see what's going to come through the door. I'm also wondering if the Old Man will ever open his eyes. If Mike Judge ever wondered what Boomhauer would look like at age 75, all he has to do is catch an episode of Pawn Stars.
  11. Muchas Arigatos dude. Keep your Mods happy folks
  12. I'm in for one, possibly two depending on price.
  13. Custom heat shield?
  14. Hikaru - What should I do with this chick?
  15. Uber limited edition weathered YF-19? http://www.yamato-toys.com/dev/release_072/
  16. Damn dude, I made an off the cuff joke but you totally took it to the next level
  17. Yep, no doubt about it, SD is still as gay as it ever was.
  18. From the pics in the second link it looks like a re-color. Looks like there's no update to the terrible gullet issue
  19. That's what I thought too when I first saw these lights about a year ago. They're sweet but damn, the Detolf only costs what....$59 these days?
  20. Finally got the chance to answer my own question over the weekend. It was HORRIBLE. Utterly horrible. Here's my laundry list. The Bad (A.K.A - Most of the Film) They pronounced the frakking characters NAMES wrong....seriously? Aang = Ong, Sokka = Sewka, Iroh = Eeroh, and my personal favorite was how they kept mis pronouncing the word avatar. Sometimes it was pronounced normally, other times, it was pronounced "ahhhhvatar". Aang, who throughout most of the TV series carried a 12 year old's joie de vivre despite what was going on around him came off as a moody EMO kid in the movie. So, to sum up, they mis-pronounced Aang's name and lobotomized his character. Sokka got robbed, he was little more than a set dressing. Appa was barely seen and when he was he was shown to be little more than transportation. The bending was crap. Despite all the nice looking effects in the trailers, the movie fails to carry off the bending well. First off, everyone in the movie seems to have to do a ton of complicated kata for 10-30 seconds until anything starts to happen. That reduces bending as a martial art to less than worthless since during that time any average guy could just run in and kick the crap out of the bender. Overall, you just didn't get the sense that the people were actually moving or interacting with the CGI elements being bent. The pacing sucked. This is a direct consequence of them trying to pack a year's worth of story into a two hour movie. The Good (About 10 minutes worth of the film) Iroh was the one ray of light in the entire godawful shitty mess. His character was spot on despite them mis pronouncing his name. There is a scene where Aang and The Blue Spirit escape the Fire Nation which is holed up in an old Air Nomad temple. This scene was pretty good in that it at least showed some half decent bending and use of terrain and natural obstacles by Aang. The last scene, the attack on the Northern Water Tribe, was not bad. It's not doing very well so I don't think there will be any more bastardizations of this series coming our way. It makes me appreciate the series much more. It's funny that the irony here is the blatantly racist casting. Everyone was all up in arms that they miscast just about everyone in this film, and don't get me wrong, I'm in total agreement. Speaking as a round-eye, the world of Avatar is deeply rooted and steeped in Asian culture. With VERY FEW noted exceptions, there aren't any white or even brown people in that world. The fact that they only managed to cast one "half" Asian actor in the whole shebang is beyond sad. However, I never would have thought that this would be the least of the sins this movie would have committed. Something tells me that if this movie had been a smaller budget product made by Ang Lee or John Woo it would have been much closer to the spirit of the original show and probably would have been tons better. They had to know that they were facing a monumental task in bringing the world of Avatar - The Last Airbender to life. Elemental martial arts, animals that don't exist in nature as we know it. Not to mention the very spirit of the series itself. Maybe it's just me but given the fact that they knew they were going to have these problems to overcome you'd figure they would leave the easy stuff (like the character's names) alone but hey, I'm not a director so what do I know? What does this equal up to? M. Knight Shamalamadingdong owes me $46.50. I'm coming for you motherfrakker.
  21. Yeah, that weathered version is too neat, looks like good old fashioned panel line pre-shading to me.
  22. Well, it's officially out and though I haven't seen it yet and have mixed feelings about seeing it, I plan to since my kids will kill me if I don't. I LOVED the series and have been anxiously awaiting the film despite it's many obvious shortcomings but when I see reviews like this.... The M/C Review I gotta wonder if I shouldn't wait for it to hit On Demand. Anyone seen it? Thoughts? Discuss!
  23. Alright Neil, running XP I can forgive, but Macross 2? Dude. We need to stage an intervention
  24. Or they could get on board with the Bandai MG models and give us some nice dry transfers. Bandai was doing that 10 years ago...
