OK, Mac Plus ideas... Fulcy suggested this image for the back of the box.... it has lots of open space to put the lettering. Mechamaniacal As to the other sides, I was kicking around this idea. On each side we could show the different rivalries A montage of Lucy Guld and Sharon with Isamu on one side And on the other side, Guld and Isamu and the valks with the ghost approaching from a distance. And then maybe the Mac Plus logo on top PHOTOSHOPPERS - I WILL PERSONALLY PAY FOR A CASE OF YOUR CHOICE IF YOUR IMAGE IS SELECTED BY THE MEMBERS. So, this is a paying job, granted, the pay aint much, but at least you get something.

Well, there are good and bad points about both... Original artwork is more classic, and generally truer to the anime. However, it is limited, and for what we are trying to do, we would have to give Paul some really high res versions of the images. He pointed out to me that most of the images on the MW Main site are at 72 DPI, and he would really need about 300 DPI. This means that he would either have to redo them, or that we would have to find someone with art books that could scan them in for us at 300 DPI or better. When you run out of original artwork, but still want more, you have to go to screencaps. Screencaps are great, but it can be hard to find a really good one. IMHO, the scene in Mac Plus where both fighters are gliding sidy by side is the best scene in the series, but the animation on the planes is not that good. I had a hard time using it as a desktop image. Now, Mac Plus will be more forgiving on this issue if we have to to go to screencaps, but SDFM has some truly horrible animation, so we really might want to stick with original artwork, or high quality screencaps from DYRL. CGI looks great, and the resolution is limitless. However, it's not always true to the anime, and unless we found a real master to tweak the CGI images so they would more closely resemble the look of the original artwork, or screencap, it would look out of place. But, we all know that choosing the images and deciding on a final image is going to be the hardest part.

Well, you can look at several factors... 1. - HG Blows, and would want a chunk of any and all future Macross releases, they said as much at AX in 2001. 2. - The existing Mac Zero R1 DVD's do not have any subtitling. 3. - Did I mention that HG blows? If we ever see them, it will most likely be years from now.

OK, Wolf13 got back to me, check his site, and see what you guys think. He said doing one in cruiser mode shouldn't be a problem, and it would help if we could find the starry background we want. Wolf13's Macross Images. Here's one of his images....
-
OK, I PM'd Wolf13 and asked him about the possiblity of getting an image, and the possibility of helping us get some images together. Problem is though, that according to his profile, the last time he posted here was in November of 03. Hopefully he lurks from time to time. One thing though... would it look wierd with Mikimoto's artwork on the sides, and a CGI image on the back?. Do we want to go all hand drawn traditional, or a mix, or all cg?.

Oh, I didnt forget about the monster, I brought it up once before when the 1/48 Mac Plus issue was raised, and I was handed the smacketh down. And yeah, make with the pics!!

Just goes to show you the difference between Yamato and Bandai. When Bandai made the HGUC Dendrobium, they said "SHELF SPACE BE DAMNED!" and made it anyway....
-
Well, to be a MW Exclusive, we need the Macross World logo somewhere....
-
How about this for the long shot of the SDF 1? It lacks the RT logo, and it's a space shot. What would be neat would be a ghost image of the crew superimposed over this.

OK, price update for everyone who wants to know... IF our quantity stays high, currently we have about 50 people interested in the 12 disc SDF case, and about 40 interested in a 3 disc Mac Plus case. Basically, Paul will knock $5.00 off of his normal case price if we do this in quantity. OK, now, on to images!, we need some ideas guys. Cut & paste whatever images you want together, and get a rough draft, post it up here so we all can decide. There seem to be some great ideas already for a Mac Plus case.
-
OK guys, just got tons of info from Paul regarding case design. Here we go... So, going on from here....we need to start deciding on some images. I got the impression that if we get the images, Paul will design the case around the images we pick OR, we can design it ourselves. I also have some preliminary price information. I am not going to post it until we get a little further along, but I think you guys will be VERY HAPPY. So, that being said, please make your image recommendations here. HINT - Big pics cost bandwidth dollars, so if it is huge, shrink it down a bit, or post a link to the full sized image, and I will compile them into viewable images. We're off and running now!

That rocks the house... It smacks strongly of Spacebattles.com http://www.spacebattles.com/ I especially like the battered old looking VF-1's they show. Obviously worn out compared to the nice shiny new VF-11's and YF-19's.

Well, here is how big it would actually be.... Fighter mode: Wingspan: 11.2 meters - 36.75 feet Overall length: 15.51 meters - 50.89 feet Overall height: 3.49 meters - 11.45 feet Battroid mode: Overall height: 12.92 meters - 42.4 feet Converted to 1/48 scale Fighter mode: Wingspan: 9.19 inches Overall length: 12.72 inches Overall height: 2.86 inches Battroid mode: Overall height: 10.6 inches. As much as I would like those to be the stats (as it would put an end to it's too big debate) they don't appear to be right. Here's the stats from the Compendium DIMENSIONS, EXTERNAL: Fighter mode: Wing span: fully extended forward 14.87 m [14.89 m] Length overall: 18.62 m Height overall: 3.94 m OK sorry, I got those dimensions off of MAHQ. I dont normally use the compendium since I find it nebulous and hard to navigate. So, here they are revised. 15.25 Inches in Fighter mode 12 inch wing span 3.23 inches high. Still not all that big IMO.

I sent Paul an e-mail asking him what his specific image requirements were. Once he lets me know, we can start hitting up some photoshoppers for some images. I might put a cross post in the Fan Art forum.
-
Well, we would probably be designing this one, and would be voting on the final image.
-
Really, why not though? I mean, at least give us the VF-11B. It's not much bigger than a VF-1. Fighter mode: Wingspan: 11.2 meters - 36.75 feet Overall length: 15.51 meters - 50.89 feet Overall height: 3.49 meters - 11.45 feet Battroid mode: Overall height: 12.92 meters - 42.4 feet Converted to 1/48 scale Fighter mode: Wingspan: 9.19 inches Overall length: 12.72 inches Overall height: 2.86 inches Battroid mode: Overall height: 10.6 inches. The VF-11B isn't much larger (and actually smaller in battroid mode) than a VF-1, so why not at least make that one. IMHO, that's the best of the Mac Plus valks anyway. Honestly, the 1/48 Y-19 would be great in fighter mode, but given the limitations of the current toy design, the battroid mode would be clunky as hell. I never liked the YF-21 in Battroid either, I guess I just like the Mac Plus valks best in fighter mode all around.

I can't believe I'm doing this, but.... Here are some of the classics... Focker sounding like the Duke on acid. Minmay sounding like she weighs about 350 pounds HIkaru sounding like Corky from Life Goes On. I capped these from VHS, so if anyone with any audio skills can clean em up, feel free.

what happened to the skins?

Duke Togo - Flayer of Macross World!! -
This is for those that want something exclusive to Macross World. Some people here have been trying for years to get Yamato to make an MW Exclusive valk toy etc etc. This is something that is inexpensive, and can be customized not only to our specifications, but for a few dollars more, your specifications. Imagine a nice brushed aluminum DVD keepcase for your animeigo series complete with the Macross World logo, and sporting your "I love myself" avatar somewhere on it. We could even get you a little brass doorknob to put on it somewhere! C'mon, I find it hard to believe that someone as narcissistic as you wouldn't want something like this.
-
Feh, why waste your money on the Hasblow version?. Just buy the Takara, and be done with it.
-
I don't know how many the animeigo set contained. Edit: Paul has informed me that the maximum sizehe can make one case is 12 DVD's. So that would be large enough for the 9 Animeigo, DYRL, FB2012 and the 20th Anniv. I was going to ask about that as well. Would we prefer a box just big enough for the series?, or for the series, plus DYRL, FB2012 and the 20th anniv?. BTW - Here is the Macross case designed by Paul. This is not what ours would look like, this is an existing case. [ If anyone has any ideas for the box design, post em up here.... We can go complete custom on this I think, so we should get some images we all can vote on. Also, if anyone has any Mac Plus box ideas, post em here as well.

I mentioned this before, after watching Mao violate Shin in ep 3. Someone here replied that that is apparently a pretty common prank in Japan.
-
His boxes range from about $25 to $50 dollars depending on how many DVD's they hold etc. As he mentioned in his e-mail, if there is sufficient interest, he will offer us a discount. DA, thanks for the pinnage.
