Thanks for the input everyone. Perhaps this will answer some of those questions. My plan is to do the mockup out of PVC and aluminum. I have to hollow out the design to make room for electronics. I wasn't planning on adding airsoft type mechanisms. I would like it to have heft and weight to feel more like a real weapon. I was going to use an led in the barrel to simulate the energy discharge. Since the weapon is modular, I will have to figure out a way to connect some of the electronics, yet still have the pistol operate independently. I don't plan on resin casting anything, but if there is interest in this on a larger scale, I may consider casting some parts, but not all, if anything to keep costs lower. I will be doing some quick layouts this weekend and hope to have pictures soon.

It's not everyone's cup of tea, But I've always thought the design was cool and since I was a kid I've always wanted one. I know I'm not the only one, but I figured it would still be a cool project. I am still debating on whether or not to make this a static prop or add lights and sounds.

Okay the next new project that Thor and I will be attempting will be the Gallant H-90 sidearm from MOSPEADA. I have always thought the weapon was very cool and it turns out Thor does too. So we will be making the Gallant complete with interchangeable parts. (barrel extension, rifle stock etc.) I have attached the preliminary CAD drawing I have done and will be posting my progress as this replica is being made. Thor will be doing some #D renderings so that we can get the parts to fit together right so watch for those too. Any suggestions, comments are also welcomed.

Okay I am all rested up from Wonderfest. I have already sent out some orders for people that requested some stuff before Wonderfest. Now it's time to get ready for next year. Thor and I already have some stuff in mind and each project will have it's own thread. One of the things we are going top attempt is the Gallant H90 sidearm from Mospeada. This kit will not only consist of the pistol, but all the attachments to make it into the rifle as well. We are also considering making my display into a kit since it generated so much intrest. Also look for the SC-27 stargoose the the VC-33 mom's kitchen coming out this year. Thor will be offering his various bombs and accessories. What I would like from the members of this forums is ideas. What would you guys like to see? What is that one item that you have always wanted but could never obtain. I'm open to destroids and valks, but mainly stuff like support equipment, support vehicles, etc. the stuff that you would really like to see but none of the big names will touch. No idea is too small. so let's get crazy and see what we can come up with.

Well Wonderfest Went really well! This idea seems to really be well accepted and I will be back next year with more ideas and more stuff. To all my fellow MWFer's that came in an introduced themselves thanks! always nice to put a face with the name. Thor and I will be collaborating for next year so keep an eye out for his stuff too It's very impressive. There will be more diorama item and kits for next year in addition to the standard panels. Anyone who would like to offer suggestions as to what they would like to see, Please make yourself heard.

Well I have been busy preparing for Wonderfest. I will be there displaying (and of course selling) my panels. Anyone who is coming stop by and see me. I finished my display yesterday but due to the site maintainence, I couldn't post this till now. here are the pictures of my display piece that I will be using to showcase my stuff. It's not quite finished yet, (my one greeble needs reattached) but all i have to do is weather it a bit. So let me know what you think.

Just a quick update. Here are some of the greebles I have been working on. These are available as a set of 3 for $5. If there are any questions please ask. I will be sure to post an update on the Wonderfest display soon, just doing some paint and detail work.

Well it looks like I'm going to be at wonderfest to see how well my panels do. I'm currently building a display that incorporates some new ideas. New supports and I added an explosion door in the floor for ammunition, etc. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Hey all! The material I used was PVC so make sure you buy a paint that will work with that type of plastic. Pretty much any plastic bonding paint should work I haven't run into any problems yet. My preferred paint is the Testor's Model Masters Primer Grey. it really gives that military dull ship feel and you only have to do 1 or 2 coats. Hope this helps.

Very sweet! I may have to send you some stuff Thor.

(sigh) oh yes i know this only too well. but that is why the gods created the eraser. and the catchphrase "back to the old drawing board!" (hey if you doubt me look at a platypus) and then man created the computer and made the eraser, the gods, and the platypus obsolete.

Okay everyone! here are some quick photos of the greebles i did this weekend as well as the 3d hatch that i did for Miriya's custom layout. This design allows for the doors to be displayed in either the open or closed position. the greebles are a little rough, but i'm still cleaning them up.

Got some more material and the grand 3d greeble experiment will commence this afternoon!. I should have some shots of those, plus the rest of Miriya's custom layout for you by Sat

Looking good Blue! I love the repair bays! You have really planned this out.
-
I also have the instructions for that kit. I have the box art too from both the robotech and the original japanese
-
Yep that's exactly what happened. easy fix, but still you would think the QC would be better. Still it's a very nice toy otherwise, I like it a lot! Thanks Batto-man and Exo. I appreciate your input and assuring me that I'm not alone.
-
Okay I got 2 of them and after i took the first one out of the box, the leg came off. It was a simple fix with some superglue but still on a toy fresh out of the box? I was wondering of anyone else has had this happen?
-
Thanks Blue! I got yours all packed up and ready to go. Just send me the word

very cool Thor what machine/service did you use to print? i went the cnc route because the modeling was easier and so was the time and material. That's pretty much the idea I has when I started this thread. Love what you have done. looking forward to more.

Giving your control panel display and lighting
tundrayeti replied to leading edge's topic in The Workshop!
I see a couple people mentioned EL wire. Have you looked into EL sheets? you can cut them to whatever shape you like, i'm not sure how small you can get with them and you will have to use an inverter. Check into it and see. -
those will be done tomorrow. I spent some time doing your 3d door detail. i will send it to you tomorrow for approval.
-
And these photos are for Miriya. Well first off there are your floor panels. I had to divide them up so that the machine had extra room. but as you can see from the pics that when they are put together, you can't even see the seam. Also there are photos of your bay doors. hope you approve and enjoy!!
-
okay here are some more detail shots. Had to do one with a battroid. also some closeups of the cantilevers and some sraight shots of the panels. The idea with the catwalks is that you can add catwalks, pipes or other details. basically it's up to your imagination.
-
They will not come painted, unfortunately. for the photos i used a wash just to make the panel lines pop out. For my own purposes, i used a simple primer gray and then a clear coat with a wash. If you really want them painted though i'm sure we could work something out. Like I said this process is highly customizable so if you have an idea in your head, let's try to bring it to life! Stay posted I will be showing off Miriya's custom design soon!

Thanks Miriya! got your custom order part way done I will post pics soon!
