Been travelling out of town for work so ive been getting home late. I will be catching up on my posts tonight. Got lots of pictures to post some for this project, some for another project that i got parts in for. So thanks for your patience in advance. Pictures coming tonight.

Masters will be here this week, I have gotten 4 shipping emails, so the parts will start arriving over the course of the next few days. I will post them as they come, and then I will start taking pre-orders. Stay tuned guys. It won't be long!
-
Yes i have seen that too but he has been corrosponding with me regularly and i should have them in 2-3 weeks. We will see. I have heard both good and bad. Guess ill find out in a few weeks.

Okay another quick update while I am waiting for the masters. I have been kicking it around, and I AM going to include decals with this kit. Here is a preview. It will only add 5 bucks to the kit. I will also give the option of not including them. So the price will be $115 with decals, $110 without, plus shipping.

That's pretty much how it starts. You can't find what you like, so you make your own stuff pretty soon your making kits. Send me a PM Chrono, i'll give you my email and I can get you started. I can tell you my experiancees with the different materials out there, heck I'm still playing with new materials myself.

Thanks, Hey we all had to learn from somewhere. In the end It's all about the hobby. I don't do this to make money. Everything I make from these kits goes to the next one, so we all benefit from sharing. Who knows what Chronocidal could come up with if only he had the right tools at his disposal. Ultimately, all this came about because I was unhappy with what was avaliable to Macross fans, and Sci Fi in general. So I made my own stuff, and eventually, people started to notice and the rest is history. I've met a LOT of excellent folks on this Forumn, and I always love to see what comes out of the imaginations of the people on this site. We all have to get inspired from somewhere.

I don't think it's a stupid question, it's more one of those hard ones to answer, like which band is better, or what car is best. You will get different answers from everyone. Personally for me there are several tricks that I use to make my process more cost effective. Hollowing out your solid areas is one of the easiest. As far as cleanup, It depends on the process you use and the printer. Just like cell phones and laptops, the latest greatest high resolution stuff is always pricier. I have seen some 3d prints that are so clean, that you can see the layers. Of course I don't have thousands of dollars to put into the prototype, since I only make small production runs, but for the big companies, its justifiable. Last year I met with Frank Winspur, president of Moebius models and he was a great guy to talk to who was very passionate about what he does. Like most of us, he uses 3d printing to make his prototypes, and it was done on an Objet printer with very good result, but you could still see the layers. He of course has a team of workers who clean them up. I got to see the 1/32 scale cylon prototype, the bat cycle from the new movies and he even had a small scale BSG Colonial one that he had done as a concept. Very cool stuff!. So this is the future. As for materials, do some research, as you have been doing. Many companies will send you samples for free or little cost. Most of the manufacturers of 3d printers will also send you samples. Make some inquiries and see what you can get your hands on. Of course the best printers or detail, is no good unless you can make your models detailed. that takes time, and practice. Please feel free to PM me with any questions, I have no trouble helping out someone who is interested in this.

Well I see a lot of views, and no negative feedback so This model is officially in the print stage. I will start option 2 here most likely after Wonderfest when things have quieted down. Thanks again for all the support guys, That's the reason why MW is the best! Now another thing that everyone has been waiting for. The Price. Price for this kit will be $110, plus shipping I won't start taking any pre-orders till the masters are in hand and money will be collected after the run is complete. And as always if you can't get this right away, let me know, I always can make more. As I said previously, 1/60 is possible, we will have to see how this run goes. I do believe there is a papercraft kit that is downloadable for this aircraft somewhere. If not I may have it.

And Here she is the Mom's kitchen in all her finished glory!. Finally done! I will leave these up for 24 hours before I send them off to be printed. I did some shots of the tailhook and the other details, added the stick and antennaes, more panel lines, etc. So have at it guys, in about 2 weeks she will be a reality!. Oh and I also did a 1:1 printing and took a picture with a 1/72 scale ground crewman from hasegawa just to make sure. It looks good to me, but i always want other opinions. ENJOY!!!

Well i can not knock the captains results. His skills are without question. The biggest thing i can say that is the difference is that so far i have used any material, so any mistakes, and corrections are dealt with before any money is spent. So far all i have is time. The other thing i like is that i can post progress, and get feedback before the master is even produced. I worked my way through college as a manual machinist soi have nothing but respect for the Captains skills. Also this is a very complex model, so it did take a little longer, but all i have to do to convert it to another scale is simple math

Thanks again everyone. I was hoping for an update tonight, compter wasnt cooperating. Definately tomorrow and it will be completely done. I will leave it up for comments till friday and then its off to the printers!
-
Hmmm. I was thinking more along the line of stick vs yoke. This plane seems more to me like an s-3 Viking. Might be interesting to see what others think. I will have the final update tonight as far as the rest of the aircraft goes. Adding a stick would be easiest as well. What do you guys think?
-
One more update. At this point she is pretty much done, I just have to add a couple antennaes and a few more panel lines and it's done. So fire away, because in a few days this baby will be off to the printers! Added some controls and seats to the cockpit, and more detail to the landing bay doors. finished up the landing gear modifications so they will be able to just snap in.
-
Okay and here's another update. Fixed the rear stabilizers, and added some more details on the door. It looks like I will have her ready to go in a couple days. just a few more things to do and this one will be off to the printers. Enjoy!

I feel your pain. I was really looking forward to this year. I will at least be able to go vicariously through our good buddy Thor! -
Soon, been having some issues with some of the electronics. This weekend i should have an update, just finishing up the lighting
-
And here is another quick update. finally got the entryway, the door mechanics, and the ladder added. I had to take a little libery with the door, as there was no way the design in the lineart would have been functional. (whispers.....Anime Magic ) Anyway this design will let the door swing out and the it will slide on track in the door and pivot on posts in the swing arm. I left the bottom cover off so the internals can be seen. Added a little door detail and here we have it! Enjoy, more to come soon!!

Could not ask for higher praise! Thanks guys. should have another update this evening
-
Well let's see what happens. Scaling to 1/60 is very possible. I would like to get this one out of the way first and we will see where it goes.
-
Okay another quick update. Got the hinges on the landing bay doors, and I also added the nose stabilizers. Finally got the middle hump the way I want it, Just a few more details and this baby will be ready to go!. I'm hoping to send it to the printers in 10 days so keep watching!

They are gearing up for Wonderfest. That is one of their biggest shows of the year. You might ask one of our members that is going to see if they can grab you one they may have them for sale at the show
-
Another update. Started on the cockpit, finally got the middle hump just about righ, need to make a small adjustment and it's done. I just need to add seats to the cockpit. I may try to add more details, but there are no reference pics as far as the cockpit controls go, so I may leave it flat like it is, maybe add a few details, and just try decals. This is real close to being done, i'm going to try to finish up the small details this weekend, maybe by saturday night so I can send this thing out for printing soon. oh and don't be too brutal on my stand in pilot. He's just a placeholder.

Thanks, Just thought i'd put it out there. keep me in mind though, I have some cool greebles and other stuff that's not too expensive. Grayson, that is a cool set, I may have to grab one just to check it out.
