An Excercise in the Hypothetical (A "What If?")
lord_breetai replied to SpacyAce2012's topic in Movies and TV Series
Except, she had already been noticed by a media scout, remember she had the audition letter she went back for. So her star was already rising, it got delayed but amplified by the space war. -
Smiley face records, so yep a bootleg... dosn't mean there isn't a real version but that deffinitly isn't it.

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid
lord_breetai replied to terry the lone wolf's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yep in Prelude to Shadow Chron (I've got the whole series signed by the artist as well as a weird sketch I got him to do of Sakura from Street Fighter in a UNS uniform), it is revealed that Dana takes command of Skull Squad. WooT Dana for the win. -
An Excercise in the Hypothetical (A "What If?")
lord_breetai replied to SpacyAce2012's topic in Movies and TV Series
Welcome to the Robotech novels of Jack McKinney he's the only one I think who even began to explore this angle in regaurds to the first Robotech War, and I'm not aware of any Macross influences. But McKinney talks about cults who think the Visitor is a test from God, he talks about religion changing in the face of Aliens showing up... both changes to the church as a norm and also cults that erupt. the only Macross reference I see is the Catholic Church after Kamjumin's attack, and minmay siliently praying for Hikaru's return on Christmas Eve. And this is treated in a way which shows that the preist and the many people outside deffinitly don't approach their faith very differently then before. (BTW Silent Night still has a christian meaning translated into Japanese even though animeigo using the english lyrics was not correct, since they are quite a bit different. Better to use the original german if they arn't going to translate the Japanese.) Anyway in terms of most scifi I've seen faith adapats, and I think that would be true too... Christianity has certainly adapted and elvoed past the expectations of Jesus's first followers... and I'd say the same is true of any religion they've all faced challanges to their claims and overcome them. -
Bah... I mock your Alpha on the PS1... Alpha for Dreamcast pwnz Alpha on PS1. but yeah... I loved Apha for Dreamcast one of my favorite games, and while I like SRW I'm not a super big fan. I really wanna Play Alpha 3.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
lord_breetai replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'd laugh if all that came out was a drama cd series then all the english speaking fans would be screwed over, and only those of us who know Japanese could enjoy it. Seriously let's recap the "wishlist" I've seen in this thread. --A Remake Seriously we have two versions of the original story already, the TV series and DYRL, and I don't think an Alternate Universe story would go over well with Macross Fans, there's no precendent for it (and no Macross II dosn't count, as it wasn't originally ment to be another universe). Macross Dosn't have Gundam's fanbase and even Gundam is devided into the die hard "UC" onlys and the ones who actually like the AUs. I think this isn't very likely. And I don't think any Macross fans want to see, "It's Macross except this time Hikaru is named Hiro and Breetai is named Zechs, and there are 5 space ships instead of one..." --A Sidestory As far as a Space War 1 side story goes, I don't really see where you'd take it. If there was a lot of different ships out there or if Earth had been more involved in the action sure why not, as it stands if it was set during the original series the bulk of it would have to be after the battle with boldolza's fleet, ala Robotech Battlecry. Cause there's simply no breathing room in the confines of space war 1. Again this is another thing that you have to realize is different in Gundam. In gundam you've got all these different space colonies and earth to set stories, so you can do "The war in South America", and also you can tell the story from both Zeon and Federation sides. Where as a story from the Zentradie point of view would lack a lot of hummanity, and if your stuck telling the story on the Macross... well it goes where it went and did what it did. We know all the major battles in the war, and showing them from a different cockpit of a differeint pilot worrying about a different girl, isn't going to make it any more exciting. A space war 1 side story is even less likely then a Space War 1, remake. Some story in the Macross 7/Plus timeframe, is deffinitly possible though. It dosn't have to be a side story but could have a couple of nods. --A Video Game A video game has a lot of potential especially if it has multiplayer online... and it's a lot more easy to do a SW1 sidestory in, cause people don't mine replaying they're favorite battles. But why can't there be an animation and a game? If this is a major project I don't think, just another Macross game is going to ammount to much. --The Ulitmate conclusion of the Macross Saga It would be interesting, I would love to see the Megaroad return, or the Supervision Army which we hear so much of but never see... I'm not saying it's totally impossible but me thinks we won't see some ultimate "grande finale". My guess is if we see an animation it will be something different, though a new TV series or OVA that continues things would be great. -
there's an arcade in the city that brings in lots of Japanese games, it had the one Macross arcade game (the one based on the original series). It had the Initial D game with the saveable cards... and it had Gundam DX... so I could see them getting it... but can you play the card game without the machine? and how language intensive are the cards?

fantastic four : rise of the silversurfer
lord_breetai replied to Aegis!'s topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yes you had to tell the Fantastic Four's origin no problem with that, and telling Doom's origin is not the problem. It's just that it's not Doom's origin. That's what makes it suffer, not that they have an origin, but that it's nothing like Dooms. Have you seen the Roger Corman movie(why I said moore in my last post I have no idea)? It's a horrible film but here's what it did right... in it you've got Doom and Reed working together to try and harness the power from this comet, doom is impatient and won't let Reed double check his figures, and their device blows up and burns him... then some Latverians take him back home to rule... Fast foward a few years and we have the FF go up again to the comet then they get dusted with cosmic radiation, and become the 4. There you have it, an origin... is it exactly faithful to the comics? No... it changes the nature of the expirment it dosn't touch on him trying to save his mother's soul from hades, or that he has magical powers... but it gets a couple things right he's a scientist and he rules a country he's not some weird electro/green goblin hybrid. So... until they can do doom properly I'm not very interested in seeing anything with him in it. Part 1 of the Roger Corman movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7mdpSsqNsM...ed&search=/- 97 replies

fantastic four : rise of the silversurfer
lord_breetai replied to Aegis!'s topic in Anime or Science Fiction
See my problem is that I hate the fantastic four... the only thing I ever liked about it was the supporting characters and badguys. I love Doctor Doom and Galactus and the Silver Surfer but the Fantastic Four on their own is just plain boring. I can't stand any member of the 4 except for She-hulk and I doubt she'll show up in any of the FF movies so whatever. Bottom line the last FF movie sucked, sucked worse then the canned Roger Moore one, I saw a bootleg of that at least doom's character was right. I don't care is Stan Lee apporved the changes for the movie version... Doom was great because he was entirely self made... he didn't get powers from an accident he earned them through cunning and hard work. He was a master of science and technology, a rags to riches/dictatorship character. Too take that all away and make him a spoiled richy rich who got in an accident and got greedy, was unforgivable... I mean he's not the Green Goblin. By destroying my favorite part of FF lore in the first movie, they ruined any faith I have for future installments, no matter how cool the Sufer looks (and admitedly it is pretty cool..) I dont' have faith that he will be treated in a respectful way. Maybe I'll watch this on DVD. Maybe.- 97 replies

This is kinda macrossy, and kewl?
lord_breetai replied to Mechwarrior's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
First thing it made me think of was the Gunbuster Video game, second thing it made me think of was Harry Potter. And why can't he use Kewl? it's like totally wicked Kewl as they used to say in the early 90s. ^___^. -
Right of the back of the action figure... couldn't they have picked an original line for the contest?
-
Well would a transformer sized gun be that bad? or how about a Galvatron style cannon? And the Transformers Universe actually has ridiculous phsyics threories on how they shrink and grow. They could just throw those in... I kinda liked the fact that even though Megatron did not trust Starscream, he was always putting himself in Star Scream's hands... litteraly.

First off the most recent Godzilla movie Gojira Wars Final is probably the most awesome film in the Gojira franchise! I mean he tosts the american Gojira in about 30 seconds that alone made it worth watching, that and the movie had a really decent plot that didn't totally focus around Gojira. The Chopper scene was awesome but something about the air force guy saying, "we will kill you" sounded corny you think they would say, "open fire" or something. I kinda like how the holodisguise for the pilot started to fail. I dunno... "Kill you" just sounds weird in that context. Dunno if it was Megatron... but why would he even notice one tiny little flesh creature? Why would he care? Humans lives are meaningless either way, and certainly one tiny girl is not worth waisting any energy on. Maybe that's just the way it's cut... and maybe the leaked script has been changed... hopefully quite a bit.

Well... It's more the over all tone not just the joke itself. I'm going to be stearing way clear of this movie...

Except that much like the fact that Duncan was much cooler then Conor and the TV series was much more memorable many people feel that way about the other incarnations of TMNT... don't get me wrong I love the black and white comics... and I like the Highlander movie but I found them after the fact so they just don't hold the same charm as the orginal. I'd enjoy a more serious story, slightly dark not neccesiarly bloody but more mature anyway... My main problems with this. A) The whole... Turtles have gone they're seperate ways and are drawn back together by major threat... is kinda cliche, the whole renunion thing sucks. B) The dialouge sucks, "It looked like your mom," "but that would also make it your mom" I mean they're Teens not 4th graders. C) Once in three hundred years the stars converg and an army of monsters is unleashed on the earth... so how come they didn't win last time when there were no turtles and no high tech weapons, and how come we don't know about it? This whole plot is like something out of a bad power rangers ep.

Love Triangles Over Done In Macross?
lord_breetai replied to SpacyAce2012's topic in Movies and TV Series
But this already is a very present theme in macross... "I love you, you love me. But he's in love with his plane instead of me." I feel Hikaru would have ended up with Minmnay (and I personally think she is the better girl although she had a lot of growing up to do thorugh the series) had their worlds not clashed so much... In the very end of the series when Misa asks if Hikaru was going to go after her, Hikaru says Minmay couldn't be a with a person like him. And Minmay pretty much said several times it was the army or her, (funny considering she was the one who was trying to convince him to sign up earlier)... you really get this sense that Minmay was his great love, but he knew that their careers would keep them apart and that Minmay couldn't take waiting to see if he'd come back safely, where as Misa was in the same situation and understood loss a lot better. And I would say it shows up in the other Macrosses as well particulary plus... It's not something I get tired of really. -

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
lord_breetai replied to Ishimaru's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I prefer to think of them as different time periods with different incarnations of Link and Zelda and this is pretty much supported by the instruction manual for "Link to Past" mind you i havn't played since the GBC game... but yeah. Chronologically, Link to the Past and Links Awakening (which happen to the same Link) happen some several hundred years or something before Zelda and The Adventure of Link on the NES. if you were to think about it as that with different time periods perhaps villages could have been relocated one was the original village and one was a resettlement. But yeah, just enjoy the game. -
How about one with Mylene? could we get a mylene wallpaper?
-
There have been the occasional good gundam game. Gundam DX, Zeonic Front, I havn't played MS Legend or Saga or whatever its' called but it looks cute... hmm I kinda like Girin's Greed too, and the G Generation games.

We all laugh, but remember Tetsuwan Atom had a machine gun up his but.

I live in Canada don't have Cartoon Network but Teletoon is the same crap Aquateen Hunger Force, and all the other original CN programming plus we get crappy original Canadian programming too... and the teletoon people HATE anime. But I have to agree that a cartoon channel should not show live action shows... Teletoon shows the Batman and Beetlejuice movies and such, I don't mind Space Jam, Tiny Toons Back in Action and Osmos Jones (all of which they show way too often though), but Batman? Yeah he's based on a comic, but it's not a cartoon.

Well, I remember a feek weeks ago Wanner Bros asked Youtube to take down all Powerpuff girls eps, but they were back up inside a week. And this seems big and co-ordinated, I think it's more serious.

you and me both... Exo-squad was a classic. I had a friend who had all the starcom toys but I never even knew there was a cartoon. he just had all these cool toys taht could do a wide variety of things with magnets. I'd kill for Captain Power DVDs and some form of continuation to the story...
