So just found out about this there is going to be a new Highlander movie, Highlander the Source http://highlander-thesource.com/news-updates.html . So I think it has the potential to be good, or at least worth a laugh. But I'm betting half the people on this board won't give it a chance and will just say, "But the first movie is the only good part of the series. 111OneOneOne" "Conor's the last immortal said so in the first movie, Duncan didn't kill him" and so on... But I'll give it a chance and see what happens. BTW Manga has the rights to the Highlander anime.

Actually the story is getting better, there's a least an attempt to develop some of the characters and some actual STORY going on... not saying it's good... just better then I'm used to.

I know people who say the same about Macross, you know? Anyway Pokemon is cute, and it's also a really good time killer. When I use to work graveyard shifts basically just watching the store cause hardly anyone came in... I'd read books, when I didn't have a good book to read or wanted something a little less intellectual I'd play gameboy advance games. Pokemon was one of them (there arn't to many GBA or DS games that I actually own). Plus I can keep my little cousin entertained around the holidays. Anyway gameplay wise they added alot; alot of community features as well. But storywise, it's the same kind of weak plots Pokemon as always had. I alway wondered why these criminal organizations let everything be decided by cockfighting little monsters. Why don't they just blow away the meddelling kids with machine guns or something?

Pretty good I think he did a good job of creating mecha designs that fit the era, if you look at old WWII comics and such that's kind of what they thought giant nazi bots would look like when they imagined them. I wish I was as good at computer animation as this guy.

Classics ImaginAsian should choose?
lord_breetai replied to Area88's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wasn't Space Adventure Cobra released over here on VHS long ago? Anyway I have to go with BeruBara and Ace o Nerae... A couple other good shows I'd like to see (re)released over here. The Jungle Book Shounen Mowgli Bushbaby Tales from the Green forrest -
As I understand it it was the back up sequal if Lucas didn't have enough money to produce Empire... but it would even then just be filler till Empire came out, That's also why didn't have Han Lucas wasn't sure he'd be able to get Harrison Ford back. There are a couple EU others I like beyond Zand... but I havn't read Star Wars books in a long time. As for Games... Tie Fighter is awesome for sure but I also like the Arcade game "Star Wars Tirology Arcade" by Sega... not that deep... basically just move the cursor and shoot but I find it fun... when it doesn't glitch... which is often.

Actually there is an earlier version of one of the title scrolls that states Darth Vader as being one of many Sith Lords in the Emperors Employ for the original movie, obviously that was changed but I think you can find a lot of earlier mentions of the sith. Yeah, I wouldn't play Star Wars Galaxies... maybe some day they'll make a new Star Wars MMO and do it right.

It seems to me the way Revan and Malak operated there was One Sith Lord then the apprentice, but there was room for as many force adepts and fallen jedi as they could get their hands on. There was also sith and then there were sith lords... But Revan lead a lot of the Jedi away from the council (as we see in force visions in KOTOR II)... and not all of them became sith. BTW what is with the "True Sith" that live outside the galaxy BS from Kotor... I wonder if we will ever find out about that.
-
Yeah but I thought the Tales of the Jedi comic covered that. I thought it ranged from about 40 years prior to Kotor all throughout the history of the sith and Jedi... but I never read that far so I'm not sure.
-
Didn't the rule of two come to be in the Tales of Jedi comics? Which are in the same time frame as KOTOR... but also stretched over a long period of time. I could be wrong but I thought it was there. BTW Tales of the Jedi is referenced in KOTOR many times you kind of have to take it, if you take KOTOR. Actually since Lucas helped write the history for Tales... you kind of have to take it period. (yes there was a time when Jedi could be trained at any age, and could marry damn it!) And YES Kotor has dark jedi... or did you miss all the enemies that when you target them "Dark Jedi" appears in the target information? http://www.uwcsa.com/uwcsa/channels/video_...or/kotor_03.jpg <--- these guys? Did you miss items that have names like "dark jedi robes"? And it lacked Force Hocus-Pocus? Freya's trying to "kill the force" sounds like the plot to a Square RPG. I loved KOTOR but KOTOR II was a little off the wall with the force stuff.

"No one could have survived that fall!" "Unless maybe, he was a Jedi" "I said, no one could survive that fall soldier" Heck I'd say even the sith witch counts... as Dooku said when she introduced herself as Sith, he laughed and then said coldy, "you are not sith." But they still made use of her services. And as far as I'm aware the Clone Wars is not quite EU. I think Dark Jedi was originally a gaming term, used in the CCG and stuff that got incorporated into later comics and novels. Certainly KOTOR uses it, and in connection with members of the KOTOR-era sith empire. And IIRC both Kotor and tales of the Jedi are considered cannon... they also happened 4,000 years ago.

I might now a thing or two about military history but I'm not a buff... Actually for that I happened to have watched pop up video a couple times when I was bored... one of those times, In the Navy was being played. From Wiki: "In the Navy" is a 1979 hit song by Village People. The music video for the song was shot with the help of the United States Navy. The Navy actually intended to use the song in promotional advertising until protests erupted over using taxpayer money for a music video of a dubious group.

When one stops to consider the US Navy had planned to use "In the Navy" as an official recruitment peice originally, how does this seem any worse?

My point is that Hitler really abused and manipulated the system and so did Palpatine wether it was "technically" legal or not. But as for their being Jedi to survive, I prefer that there are still a few Jedi out there... It seams really rediculous to think that the Empire could succed in wiping all of them out except for two. Especially when Obi-wan set up that warning beacon to tell the other Jedi to go into hiding. Of course Vader, and the other Dark Jedi employed by the empire hunted down lots of the survivors but if they missed Obi-wan and Yoda then they might have missed others... And even Yoda would not have known about them for sure or not. Luke wasn't insignificant because he was the one who helped his father finally achieve the prophecy and destroy the sith. But again I don't think ALL of them could have been wiped out.
-
SAC is okay... but I like Hikaru No Go, it's kind of silly but if your actually a go player, I am, it's kind of fun to watch.
-
Which is you know like saying that Hitler achieved power legally... he won the vote, and then got rid of voting but hey. I remember in the comics that Luke finds a clone trooper who was lost on some world, they explain the situation to the clone and he joins the rebellion. So it would be weird if some imperial could just walk up to the clone and say "Order 66" and he'd switch sides again. But then the comics don't matter for much...

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
lord_breetai replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
They did... Gunbuster was the prototype... the mass production type was the Sizzlers. You know they took out the stuff that wasn't neccesary. It's the anime logic of prototypes... they're always better. Also a full class Gunbuster shows up in the Next Generation manga. -
Sakura Taisen OVA 5 New York
lord_breetai replied to lord_breetai's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Funny none of the girls I ever dated (Japanese, Japanese-speaking, or none of the above) have minded me playing Sakura Taisen. It's not like they'd get jealous of a video game. -

lord_breetai replied to Save's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ah shows you, I've never watched more then a couple eps of New Gen. I've only seen it as MOSPEADA I think the Regent called one of them "Enforcer" in Sentinels... And yeah I got the name from the old rpgs. -

Nope Invid Inforcers ae the small power armour dudes... I liked them in Sentinels when they had those sled things (was that original or unused MOSPEADA?) -
Aoshima Variable 1/48 Legioss for 2007
lord_breetai replied to Save's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I dunno I like the Sparta/Hovertank and the Bioroid, and the hovercycle of course. I think Southren Cross did have some neat designs especially in the different suits of armour. I'd buy a PVC model of Jennane/Dana. honestly out of MOSPEADA, I'd rather see some Inbit mecha rather then more MOSPEADAs and LEGIOSS's. Like a decent Grab would be nice or the Enforcer guys (whatever they were called in MOSPEADA, I just watched the show and I don't think they called them by name). -
IIRC many years back there was going to be a live action macross but it was cancelled.
