okay now that I've watched the clip you're all judging this on. I'm just going to say that the fights and transformations are are lot better in my opinion in the other episodes... this is the first one and the others arn't as slapstick. I do agree with Noriko that I don't like the new theme song cover (by Wild Sannin Musume)... But yeah actually try watching the show instead of just youtube clips, it's not bad.

This really suprises me, I for one have been enjoying Cutie Honey the Live emmensly, and I'm not what you'd call a very big fan of the Franchise, I like the shoujo version CH Flash and the Anno movie but I think in terms of storytelling and direction this is vastly supperior to Anno's rendition. The Anno movie was just plain silly and overly cartoony... this one reminds me of Ultraman Nexus, it's very dark... so far in the first two Episodes Honey's gotten the crap kicked out of her two times, in Episode 3 and 4 she's failed to save a few people... Panther Claw is very scary and strong in this compared to the movie where they seemed more of a joke. It's a matter that here it actually feels like CH needs to really toughen up, she's barely holding her own against some of the sub-bosseses and the main baddies are kicking her ass, so she's going to have to grow a lot before the end. Edit: I guess what I like most of all is it's not as cartoony yeah there are still some of the anime-esc phsyics in live action from the Anno movie but there's a lot less of it... at times I sometimes forgot I wasn't watching an anime while watching Anno's film because the fights were so over the top... here you get a bit of that like when Honey tries to punch the Panther Claw boss and and he seems to teleport out of the way. but nothing like say when Gold Claw launched her missiles in the movie or was tossing CH around with her hair. I will follow this drama to the end... it's just a bit above my Japanese profficiency level so it's good practice. And while it's got fanservice it dosn't seem too perverted (well except for episode 3). Bottom line, the movie was good... this is much better. Is no one else loving this show?

Actually even the Gen 2 comics, which were written by Furman and were overly religous still managed to bring a distinction between Transformers and Humans on their veiws of death. In issue 2 when Fortress Maximus and the fire truck autobot are killed by Megatron and self-destructing to prevent Cobra from getting ahold of Autobot technology respectivly, the autobot who survives talks with General Hawk about death, "to you death is inevetible for us it is unthinkable, I wonder if that makes it easier or so much harde." Also the fact that an Autobot would have to blow himself up so that Cobra couldn't anaylze him and reverse enginer Autobot technology is something no biological being would ever have to worry about. Though they might kill themselves to prevent being tortured for information. Honestly, the Transformers religion adds a lot of depth to the characters, there's a reason why it was adopted by almost every series since it showed up in the original comics. Though the UK thing about Rodimus fighting an eternal battle to keep Unicron trapped in the Matrix is kind of dull.

Mars is the new Charr? -
How about Predaking? We've already got a giant mechanical scorpian so other robotic animals would probably be okay.

I love how on the page with the Sheng Long article they had their "find the april fools joke hunt" contest info... cause no one would think that the joke was the very article above the info on the scavanger hunt. But then I once saw a movie magazine that had a contest asking how James Bond like's his martinis and if that wasn't enough on almost ever other page of the mag they had an add that said "shaken no stired" on it.

While most TF episodes were mediocre to crap... the ones that were well written were really really good for 80s american animation, I think some fo the best written of the era. But the TF movie wasn't bad I thought, infact it was pretty good. I mean it was dumb for sure but still it was a fun action movie, and that's all I was expecting. As anyone seen the direct to DVD knock off? Transmorphers? And for that matter has anyone seen the exculsive DVD versions in Canada I went to walmart but it didn't seem to be there.

he didn't mean that it was "Myth Busters" just that it was a Japanese show that did similar kinds of things. And everyone in that except the american gun shop owner was speaking Japanese.

I wouldn't call the original Supergirl movie horrible... especially after seeing the European cut (which makes a lot more sense then the american version), it's not a great movie but it's kind of fun and cute. (though I really think Lucy Lane is a lesbian who's in love with Linda/Kara, even though she's going out with Jimmy in that movie).

There's a time when Capcom was saying that only one character from previous Street Fighters would return for number 4, at this same time they also said Ken will only show up in tournaments Ryu is in, (cause you know Ken has a life unlike Ryu). So that would have preculded Ken from showing up in 4 if the stuck to that... I don't know where it was said, a friend who was a huge capcom fanitic and could quote the storylines backwards and forwards told me... if it's not true... which might be the case, meh whatever.

Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone
lord_breetai replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Can't really call those spoilers... nothing new storywise in either clip. Hell the battle with the first angel was movement for movement the same as the TV series, only the designs have been updated. -
That would be cool, I met Omar Dogun of Udon, he rocks... got an original sketch from him of Sakura in a UN Spacy Uniform (since he also did Robotech comics I thought it would be neat)... I want Sakura to come back, (the storyline is she went to college after Alpha but she could be graduated now, and come back... she'd need a new outfit though).

Spoilers for Episode 2... So it looks like they're taking the comic story arc where Kara was sent to kill Baby Kal-el and her true personality was submerged probably in the missing Crystal. that's just my guess though in the actual story-arc it's ambiguous which was her true personality, she comes out as a nice girl at the end though. But still I'm liking the whole Supergirl thing.

as much as I'd like to buy all of them, I don't have that kind of money right now so I'll get walmart cause the animated prequel sounds cool.

Dambusters taking out the Death Star
lord_breetai replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This is true... I guess I didn't think about it cause I didn't see Hidden Frotress till after I saw Phantom and I only watched Phantom once (opening day, though not first showing). But it's very much the case, because it has the Older Jedi escorting the princess across enemy lines trying to lay low, and at the end she gets back to get allies to help her retake her province/world (though this is the end of the movie in hidden fortress)... hmm I'll have to rewatch both Episode IV, episode 1 and Hidden Fortress now. -
Dambusters taking out the Death Star

Uhh... How about a lot of Kurosawa as in a huge chunk of the movie's plot is lifted directly from the Hidden Fortress, as well as the characters of R2D2 and C-3PO? And you don't have to take my word for it watch the DVD introduction to the Hidden Fortress BY Gorge Lucas and marvel as he explains himself everything that he took from that movie. There's also a lot of references to Hidden Fortess in Star Wars itself. "Or given you clairevoyance enough to find the Rebel's Hidden Fort..." *Vader starts chocking him* the main thing that was taken from Hidden fortress is the two characters and the Jedi/Samurai helping a Princess to Escape behind enemy lines. -
LIVE ACTION ROBOTECH (WB gets the rights)

Mari Iijima should get a cameo! She could be Minmay's aunt on the SDF-1 or her mother when she goes back to Yokohama. -
that interveiw clarifies a lot of things for me and makes me really keen to watch this season, Supergirl has always been my favorite DC character and I like how they're doing it like the current incarnation's story where she left at the same time and was supposed to take care of Baby Kal-el but now she's younger then him. The Supergirl story arc of Batman/Superman was one of my favorites.
-
Was just pointing that out because you said "Lex Love Angle" but that's the wrong supergirl... But I don't mind the changes smallville made up until halfway through the last season when I stopped watching (probably less then halfway). You have to let it tell it's own story, it's kind of irksome that he's practically Superman already except for the fact that he can't fly yet... I mean at what point should they just rename the series and break the no costume rule?
-
umm... the Lex/Supergirl love storyline wasn't between Lex and Kara Zor-El... EVER. It was between Lex and the Matrix Supergirl... and the Matrix Supergirl was retconed out of existence so it never happened.

I will watch it for Supergirl the Maid of Might!

Are you sure it was Mazinkaiser and not Mazinger? Mazinkaiser first showed up in Super Robot Wars Alpha for the Playstation and Dreamcast... and the OVA followed shortly after. I know there was a Mazinger Z toy like that many years ago. BTW did nobody get the joke in my first post?
