  1. So I just want to confirm we're officially going for 1/48 scale or what?
  2. Probably someone just thought it sounded cool, I don't think there's another reason.
  3. Misa's my favorite character too... and I agree that I didn't like how Light lost but not because of the forged Death Note but because
  4. hmm... I dunno, there are a few things that would make it diffent then the military angle played out in The Transformers movie. And would an anti-terrorist team with code names be less silly then a fast talking and comically inept Men in Black team?
  5. You mean volume 13, "Death Note: How to Read"... most people consider 12 the ending and 13 just an epilogue even the English release at least made that clear. And I'm going to disagree that the manga goes way downhill after L dies, I think it slowed down a bit before that with the whole Higuchi thing; and picked up again when L dies and after. But that it was necessary from a philosophical stand point for the author to show us what would happen if the Death Note was in the hands of someone with less noble intent then Light, and then to show us what the world created by Light would be like. I actually enjoyed the whole thing with Near and Mello.
  6. Well the original crossover had no support from Larry Hama, and Megatron's appearance towards the end of the original series was forced too. It was Hasbro that wanted to see the two series crossover for marketing purposes, there were appearances by Flint and Cobra Commander in the Transformers cartoon as well. I can understand the decision from Hasbro's perspective they were the two most popular toylines they had at the time... both with an action theme of two armies fighting each other and both in the realm of science fiction to some extent... but while GI Joe do not seem out of place in the Transformers universe a lot of people have a problem with Transformers in the Joe universe. Personally I've liked all the different GI Joe/Transformers crossovers cause it never warped my whole perception of the Joe Universe that Transformers exist in it... (though if one follows the conclusion that GI Joe takes place in the mainstream marvel universe because Spider-man also appeared in the original TF mini-series AND J Jonah Jameson appeared in the GI Joe comics, it gets a little weird). I just took it that, "sure their are aliens in GI Joe... giant mechanical aliens but we're considered with the slightly more realistic adventures of an anti-terrorist task force and won't mention the TFs very much... got ya!" GI Joe and TF has always been connected to some extent... for budget reasons most of the BGM between the two cartoons was shared for example. I can understand why Devils Due ignored Megatron at the end of the series and made their own crossovers an alternate universe but I would not have a problem with a in-continuity crossover either... infact I'd like to see the G2 Transformers with the Autobot/Decepticon alliance that was formed at the end... that would be interesting. I wonder how a TF/GI Joe movie would be received?
  7. I certainly consider them Cannon and why not? they continue off of the original storyline, and they're good. the only problem I have is that they ret-con Megatron out of the final issues of the original run. OH and the Lady Jaye thing sucked yeah... but the whole Red Shadows story-arc was horrible imho.
  8. I want to enter the Slusho contest commercial... remember Slusho is not scary or bad, or related to anything scary or bad.
  9. Same number that's on the distrobution page of slusho.jp... interesting.
  10. Doujin or Doujinshi is a self-published comic, often it's also a fan-work. Really big in the Japanese otaku community, where they have big festivals where they are sold... often but not always it is pornographic.
  11. Well I don't know how contrived it is, when they say in the dialouge "These are the same standard the military uses". Honestly I find Alto's boarding of a Valkyrie to be less realistic then Hikaru. Alto WANTS to be a Valkyrie pilot and is already in a flight school and performing arial stunts for a living (Hikaur of course was a pilot but wasn't learning to be a Valk pilot. Hikaru's groggly launching in the middle of a battle is crazy... cause why? Cause he was too afraid to tell Misa he was a civillian who was just being shown the Valk by Roy, remember Hikaru was anti-war at this point too and didn't want to be fighting in a war machine, where as Alto gets into the Valk out of neccesity the scene is more like Amuro getting into the Gundam then Hikaru launching in the Valk... but unlike Amuro, Alto's been training for this, and we know from SDF Macross... so I have no problem with it.
  12. Lurk More! There's already a thread on the first on the first of the rebuild theatrical movies... its not on DVD yet in Japan which is why there's no fansub of it. And yes Asuka will show up in the second episode. Anno remade it cause he wants too, and thinks there are things he can aprove.
  13. To appeal to Loli-cons, most likely. Anyway if that's our love triangle, it'd be very interesting... in Macross, Macross II and Macross 7 the love triangle was a choice between a carer military person and a singer (Misa or Minmay, Silvie or Ishtar, Gamlin or Basara), in Macross Plus the love triangle was Myung the singer's choice between two pilots... here the pilot will get a choice of two singers; one of whom may be working with the military to some extent? Anyway I just noticed according to Shinsen subs Sheyral mentions Jet-lag as well as fold sickness... now I don't know the Japanese word for Jet lag (never came up before, I'll have to look it up). But if she really has Jetlag, is that caused by the fact that different colonies have different "time zones"? Or is it due to time dilation caused by the fold, (which should be relativly minor but we do know from SDF it does happen)? If it's the former, that's interesting. I wonder how the different colonies "set their clock", but either way it gives more of a feeling of each colony being a different country. Really it feels like Human kind is a lot more segregated then it was in Macross 7 (and not because of this). Which makes me wonder the Protoculture test-weapon found on Earth in Macross Zero asked if 1) Humans had reached the stars and 2) if they were still warring with each other, before it went all crazy on everyone. If Humanity has grown vast and poweful enough that no longer facing the threat of extinction from the next big wave of Zentraedi to come along they are again at war with each other... it could be that our mysterious space aliens are there to elminate all warring parties. But we have no evidence that humanity in general or the Frontier in specific was involved in any large scale armed conflict since the end of the Protodevelin war; it's just a thought.
  14. If you beat the Gunbuster game with Jung as your partner... Noriko and Jung spend the time before they reach earth playing Chess on the Gunbuster's computer... if it would help I'll replay to the end of the game and tell you how many chess matches they played ;p. IIRC it was a lot, and Noriko lost every one.
  15. yes that's right! lol I always screw that name up. Thanks.
  16. Every time I see SMS, I think Short Message Service... which is the system that cellphone networks use to update phones also what text messages come from. But Japan dosn't have text messages anymore, so it probably dosn't bug anyone there like it bugs me... *my job, and one of my hobbies is working with cellphones*
  17. Who sings the the version of Ai Oboeteimasuka? Do You Remember Love? in Macross Generation? I know Megumi Ogata sung Runner and she's usually credited with that version of DYRL but it dosn't sound like her... Could someone let me know?
  18. Well there was the rumors that the 3rd Season of Exosquad was linked to Robotech because of the Exosquad Robotech toyline, and that the Invid would show up in it.
  19. But isn't isn't it subbed into Japanese in DYRL? I'll have to double check. I would say it's what you said though... and now it's been adapted by this Meltran youth to be "Unbelievably cool!"
  20. In Macross DYRL we see it being an expression of shock or surprise for Zentraedi. I think it's sorta an all purpose word like the Norwegian Uffda!
  21. Have you ever read the Outsiders manga? almost all the spaceships in that are Zentraedi rip offs and the artist admits it.
  22. I prefer watching things raw it's better for my own Japanese practice but I checked out Shinsen and it seems okay to me. The thing I thought was funny is silly notes like "Fold Sickness reffers to when one get's ill due to the effects of a hyperspace fold, kinda like sea sickness" or however they phrased it... thanks Shinsen, could never have figured that out on my own.
  23. I think I found it sometime after I found robotech.simplenet.com ... I'm not really sure it was years and years ago, I don't have an epic story I'm just here.
  24. well they were "attractions" but the purpose of the Batteloid festival was to find suitable war machines City 7 could make use of, and we did see the Monster in action (true we see that it should NOT be used for civil defense). Basically my understanding was that they found that a Valkyrie batteloid was just as well suited to ground ops as a destroid so they scrapped destroids (except things like the Variable monster of course)
  25. No... I'm pretty sure it's a sign that rock stars and pop-idols are now considered important military assits, at least ones who generate a lot of song energy. Wether you like Macross 7 or not, it established that Song Energy is something that has uses outside of battling the protodevelin. Max was working on project M, to create sound force before the Varuta ever showed up; that's why Basara had a top of the line Valkyrie and went unarrested if you recall. So obviously at least some colony fleet commanders view having units like sound force or jamming birds and assit. And even if music dosn't prove effective against the new enemies in some form, singers are still a great weapon against any un-contaminated Zentraedi fleets that are still out there (and if you remember Breetai's statement in Ai Oboeteimasuka, there's probably still quite a few). So even if she is not working with the military at all, which from what we've seen I doubt very much, Sheryal, if she generates a high level of song energy would still be a valuable assit to be protected. Ummm Ai Oboeteimasuka, has a much longer running time then 26 minutes.
