  1. I don't really like the protruding dish. One of the things I really liked about the Prime refit was integrated blue dish recessed into the hull. I was only 4 or 5 at the time, but I already knew I liked it better than the protruding gold dish from TOS. I understand that this new Kelvin-timeline is just an alternate time-line, but I'm sorta sad that the Prime-timeline Refit will likely never be revisited on the big screen or small screen again.
  2. Wow, I hadn't been reading up on this film, had no idea Beat Takeshi would be in it, lol!
  3. So, I haven't seen this movie yet, but it's been out long enough to discuss without spoiler tags? Any thoughts on the ships in the film? Haven't seen any pics posted here, but they are out there.
  4. Godzilla anime.....yeah, no kidding, wierd how it hasn't been done before. I was in Japan on opening day and apparently this film is doing well.....sorta wish I went and gave it a chance.
  5. When i was uneployed for a year, that's all I did, watched EVERYTHING Star Trek back to back between looking for work.
  6. You haven't watced it? I don't think it was all that bad. I found it better than Voyager and DS9. Got to really like some of the characters.
  7. I'm trying to remember why it was cancelled again, was it up against American Idol or something?
  8. That really pissed me off when I got to that episode. I'm actually rewatching the whole thing right now and I have to say, it really fukking sucks they cancelled it.
  9. The all-men-are-pigs-because-they-hate-this-movie in this thread is delicious. Movies with women in it are fine, I loved The Force Awakens, with a Rey kicking the crap out of Ren. This is a "they raped my childhood" more than "I hate women". Get over it!
  10. That was pretty cool. Don't recall ever seeing the Death Star from that angle. Felt more real for some reason. Also, was pretty cool to see the Tie fighter rise up and hover there....something else I don't recall seeing, in live action anyway. Happy to see original X-Wings in flight again!
  11. My first NSX....wayyyyyyyyy back in the day. I grew my hair back and I no longer tuck my shirts in my pants, lol! My second one: Then life happened and I had to sell it. No way I could afford the new one. Still miss that car more than any g/f I've ever had. Anyway, back on topic, Gen 1 had a nice mix of cars from many manufacturers....it's too bad Bayformers is restricted to just a few.
  12. Reboots generally mean to discard any continuity from the original in order to recreate its characters, timeline and backstory from the beginning. The characters were Peter, Ray and Egon. Recreate, not wipe them out. If the reboot has absolutely no ties to the original, why even call it a reboot? Reboots always have some connection with the original. Not saying change is bad, but it has to be done in moderation. Yamato 2199 is a reboot where enough was changed that gave it a fresh look, but enough was left the same that it was still Yamato. There are good reboots and there are bad ones, and this one was a bad one (in the eyes of many it appears) because too much was changed. Michael Bay's pushing the boundries on "rebooting" Transformers, and I personally hate all the live action films, but at least he kept the main characters somewhat intact, in name if nothing else.
  13. EXACTLY. A handoff would have been acceptable, but to wipe the original characters out of existence for no particular reason was just stupid. At least in Star Trek they chaulk up drastic changes to alternate timelines because of time travel.
  14. The original charaters were Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler. It would be like doing a Star Trek reboot and rewriting James T Kirk, Sulu, McCoy and Scotty out of the timeline just to make the character females. I find it difficult to believe that Feig could not find male or even a mix of male/females that could have fit the role of these characters. That he was only able to cast these four females (only two of them that actually have any particular talent) for these roles? No, he made it a point to cast females only in these roles to back his agenda. I’m not sexist, I’m just not particularly thrilled when they make drastic changes like wiping out original charactersI’m not sexist, I’m just not particularly thrilled when they make drastic changes like wiping out original characters. I used a Star Trek Analogy, but it could easily be applied to Macross. Macross the First was a good reboot of SDF Macross.......can you imagine the $hitstorm if they wrote out Hikaru, Roy, Max and Kakizaki and replaced them with completely with the cast of Sailor Moon?
  15. So if heros are heros and gender didn't matter, did he have to make it a point to make them all female? What a twat. Paul Feig can go eat a bag of dicks.
  16. Lol, who knows..... Also, I think I asked this before, and I think someone may have even answered before, but does anyone know what ever happened to this display? http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/giantyamatomodel/ Was it dismantled and destroyed or preserved in a museum or private collection? Never noticed the guns on the back of the tower: They almost look like Phalanx CIWS guns
  17. Those first two pics re: Musashi. Not exactly what I'd imagined, but still cool nonetheless to see Yamato's sister ship depicted somehow in the universe (I'd always imagined that it it were to ever be done, Musashi would look nearly identical to Yamato, with very sublte differences, just like the last days of IJN Yamato and IJN Musashi). Would be cool to see Shinano done as well.
  18. Some cool random images of Yamato related stuff just to bump the thread:
  19. They getting him mixed up with Ratchet? Or did Hound and Ratchet merge? Yeah, I agree, it all looks like $hit. I haven't paid for an MB Transformer film since the first one, and I didn't even bother downloading the last two.
