  1. Nice! I see they updated the book a bit with color. I bought an older edition years ago, all black and white, but TONS of detail. Nice buy!
  2. Haha, yeah, the hairdos from 80's anime would not work for me today either. Mac Zero sort of addressed that with more realistic military haircuts...at least more than the original series. And as far as a PG rating goes, I would be totally fine with an R rated Macross. The story is in the middle of a war, and could accept that. It would be absolutely fantastic if they did a side story set in the period of SDFM, doesn't even need to include the original characters. Maybe a story about another squadron. If they animated Macross the First, I think I would enjoy it, but I doubt that will ever happen. I think it would have to be a fan project if VF-1 era stuff was ever revisited on the screen. And that probably goes the same for G1 stuff. Guess that's why Yamato 2199 has so much appeal for me.
  3. I'll agree to an extent. For me, there hasn't been a really good animation to live action adaptation that stands out in my mind. As far as nostalgia is concerned (and this is not the perfect example because it's animation to animation) Yamato 2199 was an excellent series that captured enough essence of the original series, and injected just enough new stuff to capture new fans and not piss of old fans. Yamato live action was a nice try, but there were a lot of things that felt off about it. Yes, this is a Transformers thread, but can you imagine if Michael Bay got his hands on Macross? It will probably still be a huge box-office success, but wouldn't you be a little upset if Valkyries looked like my earlier post? Or if the characters were doing things and saying things that were drastically different than what you remember? Can you imagine if Roy was a total cuck who disliked drinking alcohol?

  5. Lol, I'm sure he knows that, he's just expressing his opinion. I stopped downloading TF movies after the second one, but I guess part of me still hangs on to a little hope that each new one won't be $hit. Every new TF movie thread on here seems to get worse than the previous one, and this one by far seems to be the worst, with even Bayformers fans not being happy with the latest installment.
  6. Wow, those are some impressive looking chunkies, awesome work man!
  7. I never saw the animated series, but heard that most if not all the original actors did the voices? I bet in 15-20 years, tech will be advanced enough to redo the entire series in live action, with CGI stand-ins for the actors and dubbing their original voices and dialogue into it. Back on topic though, I'll bet Discovery won't do well. The designs are already pissing off old fans, and it doesn't seem like many want to pay to see it. I've always thought that I loved all things Star Strek, watched all the series (except the animated series), all the films, and even sort of liked the JJ films, but I won't sign up to watch this, and may not eve bother to d/l or stream it.
  8. Sounds like life got in the way, but I hope this project is still in the works!
  9. I've had similar thoughts as well. Just have the mains pop in and out, almost like cameos. Thought this could work for a new SDF Macross TV show set in the same period, just about different people.
  10. Meh, let them keep trying until they get it right.
  11. I would be happy if they animated Macross the First. It would almost be like Macross got the Yamato 2199 treatment.
  12. Agree 100%. 2199 made previous iterations including Resurrection suck balls.
  13. Wow, looks pretty awesome so far.....hope you have the funds and inspiration to complete the rest of the valk
