  1. That's another thing I was wondering about.....what they were doing in Ancient Greece or Rome, lol!
  2. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm sure there are some examples out there of the completed kit, you must have sold more than a few I would think. I was just curious to see how others have tackled the build. I dig mine out from time to time to look at it, but I don't think I have the confidence or the skill to build it yet (never touched a resin kit before).
  3. I'm not going to lie, at the time this thing came out, I thought this image was done well. Is it traced? Though even at that time, I wondered how the Inbit would have been able to angle it's guns to hit it's target (the woman), given the range.
  4. Those are amazing. Hopefully someone in Canada and the US starts doing stuff like this.
  5. Interesting thing about the wood decks on Yamato. Previous iterations of space battleship Yamato didn't often depict the ship with wood decks, even though you can seek the wood deck pattern, but since 2199, I started to see models with the decks painted wood color, which I thought was pretty neat, and offered a nice contrast in color to the rest of the ship. I also noticed that models of the WWII ship started appearing with gray or dark gray/black colored decks, and I thought I'd only seen this depiction on models of IJN Musashi. So, I mistakenly assumed that Musashi's deck's were painted/stained dark gray or black, while Yamato kept her bright wood decks. Anyway, it's given me something to think about while building Yamato models. I built a 1/500 scale version with "fresh wood" deck sometime last year, first model I've tackled in ages. So I bought a few of those Mecca Colle kits to mess around with - two 2199 kits and three 2202 kits. My plan was to build a 2199 Yamato and a fictional Musashi sister ship to go with it, then do the same for the refit 2202 versions (the 5th kit was just for practice). I had in mind to differentiate the ships with Musashi having a dark gray/black deck, and Yamato with the bright wood decks. So I started to do a little digging and found that I was probably mistaken in my assumption that Musashi only had the darker colored decks. The decks of the original ships appear to have been furnished with Hinoki Cypress and there was some chatter on whether the decks were painted/stained black or dark grey like the models I've been seeing. It seems to be the opinion (http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4707&start=260) of many that the wood may have just weathered to a dark gray over time: Some are saying that it was given a temporary "wash" from a mixture of funnel soot and other stuff. When I was in Onamichi standing on the deck of the movie set, I don't recall the wood decking being particularly fresh, severely weathered like the planks above, or stained/painted black. It just looked like wood that may have been stained with a darker than natural finish. Then again, that was just a movie set. So I guess for my 2202 kits, both ships (Yamato and Musashi) will probably just have some sort of darker colored deck, anything but the fresh wood look. I know, these are space ships and probably would not weather in space, but Yamato did spend some time in atmosphere. I suppose during the refit, she would have gotten fresh wood, but I'm just grasping at straws to help differentiate the kits to show some subtle differences between Yamato and my fictional Musashi, and between the original rebuild from 2199 and the refitted versions of 2202.
  6. Looks good overall. Only a few nitpicks: Ring should be bigger and further away from the body in planet mode. Spikes around the equator are missing No religious or political debates. No graphic or vulgar descriptions/depictions of sex or sexual content.
  7. I have one too, and I am guilty of not building it either....mainly because I suck as a model builder, but also because I've never built a resin kit before, Though recently, I've been finding some courage to start up building models again after a 10+ year hiatus so I'm looking for some inspiration to get this thing started.
  8. I still can't believe this thing has a pulse.
  9. Yeah, I could see it being a hard sell for sure, and without even seeing the original film, I'd agree that there's probably nothing else like it. Apart from the Serbian Film, I don't think I've ever turned anything else off partway because I found it unsettling. I read somewhere that Jim Henson said he wanted to scare kids with it, well I'm guessing mission accomplished. My job sometimes requires me to review very graphic images and my LE pals sometimes send me police/security cam footage of a gang member or other $hit rat getting his head blown off. I can do that all day long and it doesn't even phase me, but there's something very unsettling about Dark Crystal, lol! Is it because the protagonists look like someone made puppets out of dead bodies, or because I associate the protagonists with the innocence of children and I can't stand to watch children suffer the way they do in Dark Crystal? I'm probably overthinking it. When I'm in a better state of mind, I'll probably give it another try.
  10. I have a decent collection of 1:18 cars, will have to find some time and post some pictures. Trying to justify to myself to pick up an R33 Nismo 400R from Otto: At the local hobby shop for about $179 CAD
  11. Wow, that actually looks like a pretty decent kit.
  12. Mike produced more than a few of these things, as no one actually built one?
  13. When I first heard about Dark Fate, I was curious, but the most recent trailers have me thinking it might be a pass. The Sarah Connor Chronicles had it's hooks in me, but when they cancelled the series and Genysis came out, it was a big WTF for me. Even though Cameron is behind this, I'm still not convinced I shouldn't wait until it ends up on Netflix.
  14. I never watched the original film. I think I was 7 when it came out, so maybe I was too young for my parents to take me at the time. Since then, I’ve only read snippets here and there on what it’s about, but I never got around to watching it. So, out of morbid curiosity, I started watching Age of Resistance on Netflix and ended up turning it off partway through episode 2. I’m totally fine with violence, gore and the concept of death, in fact, I may be a bit desensitized to it growing up with Faces of Death, Portal of Evil, now Liveleak, sprinkled with some mil training later in life. No problems with horror movies/TV like Texas Chainsaw, Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, GOT all ok…….drew the line at The Serbian Film. But mix all of that with Sesame Street and the Muppet Show, and end up with I knew going into it that it was probably going to be dark, but I guess I just wasn’t anticipating Muppets getting turned into juice and consumed. The characters were…….unsettling. The dead looking skin, those lifeless eyes, Jesus. The other are visuals are great, but the characters are downright creepy. They are clearly puppets, but I guess in my mind, there’s something very, very wrong with these puppets. Maybe it was timing, my dad just had a heart attack the day before I started to watch it, so maybe that had something to do with it. He’s going to be fine, but maybe my mind was telling me I needed some happy $hit in my life right now, lol! I didn't have any nightmares, but I felt if I continued watching it, I would probably end up with some bad dreams. Maybe I'll give it another chance later on, lol!
  15. Fek....I haven't seen 2202 yet either. Will have to binge watch it one of these days.
  16. Although the thought of Rey turning dark is kind of cool, now that Disney's shown it in the trailer, I don't think it will happen. I'm not sure Disney would throw in such a huge spoiler into the trailer. Something that dumb hasn't really happened since the trailers for T2 came out.
  17. Megs looks good: Still irks me that he's a tank instead of a gun, but I understand the argument that it makes more sense instead of mass-shifting.
  18. Would have been cool if they went with something along the lines of He-Man the Barbarian. \
  19. Wow, looks good....since all of my 1/48s are opened, stickered and played with, I guess I don't need to worry about collector value, maybe I should try to weather them and make them look a bit nicer.
  20. I'm till wondering if they're going to address the non-white landing gears....I mean Bandai must have seen the feedback on that issue by now.
  21. Necrothreading this topic to see if anyone around here's built theirs? It seems like almost all existence of this kit have been wiped from the interwebz....found only two pictures of it
