Hachette Collection 1/24 VF-1S (subscription collectable)
peter replied to CF18's topic in Model kits
That's what I said! Haha, for that price, it should transform on it's own. -
I'm trying to convince myself as we speak. Thankfully, I don't have any of the DX ones yet......

This is 1/24 scale....it's double the size of the 1/48 -
I honestly don't think the Yammies have aged poorly compared to the DXs. At a quick glance to the untrained eye, one would be hard-pressed to see any major differences. That being said, I'm definitely going to get one of the DXs. Waiting out for a Roy, but I might cave for the Hikaru 1S when it comes out. I don't really want it since I already have the Yamato version, but who knows how I will feel when it comes out. If I come across a 1J for a good price, I may jump on it, but I find them currently absurdly overpriced. Back in February when I was in Japan: Out of principle, I can't justify to myself paying 15,000 JPY over MSRP, though many folks here can.

¥ 24,902 shipped to Canada if any Canucks here want it. I almost clicked on Place Order but I'm waiting out for a Roy.

Fail....doesn't even transform on it's own. -
I really like the idea of this massive scale Valk in fighter mode. Although the Gerwalk looks incredible, it sort of irked me that something so massive and so expensive was so fixed into position in terms of pose-ability (I get it, it would have driven cost up more if it wasn't). At least in fighter, limited moving parts is built into the mode. If I see one of these when I'm over there in November, I might grab it just because shipping would cost more than $300, lol!

Question about the Garthim. Are they supposed to have two furry bipedal legs in addition to the crab/spider legs or was that just the limitation of special effects at the time? vs no leg:

Head laser seems a bit longish.

I think that jacket is a solid pass for me, lol!

Sorry, I had no idea that the 1/48s died with the Yamato name....I'm really out of the loop.

I haven't really been following this thread, is Arcadia done with the 1/48 line now that Bandai is in the game?

Cpl Maximilian Jenius? I never really noticed that before that he was a corporal.....can't think of many Air Force organizations with non-coms as pilots.

Would be pretty crappy if the Battroid ended up being a giant statue like Gerwalk and the arms and legs were fixed in position.

And sold out......

Concur. On average, price seems to be about 5k yen cheaper than Nippon-Yassan at this time. I have an address in Japan, so not a huge deal to order to Amazon, but are there cheaper online retailers that actually sell it for the original MSRP.....that have it regularly in stock?

You'll always be the one who brought us this massive Valk Hope to see pics of your personal Macross related works in the future!

It would be cool if they released optional sets to build it as the "Final Battle" version.

You'll just have to out-do Max-Factory by making a 1/12 scale :)

Sorry it took so long for me to upload pics of the kit. I took a look at it for the first time since I bought it from Mike.....I'm in wayyyyyyy over my head with this one. I think I would probably be brave enough to try and paint the thing, but prepping a resin kit is something I have no experience with...ie, fitting parts, filling, sanding and working on those panel lines (making them deeper/stand out more?), and assembly. Size comparison with a Hasegawa 1/72 on the left.

Apart from the Animeigo DVD box set and a few comics before I knew better, I don't recall giving HG any money since I joined this forum, not that my ongoing 16 year boycott really makes a difference.
