  1. Setting military tactics aside for a moment (don't get me started on why a Valkyrie needs a mouth and speakers in space), when was the last time you saw an regular camera, video camera, webcam, dashcam, cellcam, security cam, newscam, nannycam, or trail cam, emit a bright green light? Yeah, I know it's just a toy, and I have the freedom to not install batteries or not buy the toy at all. I think it would have been better if they illuminated the actual flight lights instead, or even the flame effects.....
  2. I don't know much about Gundam or what is supposed to be in their head units, but when it comes to Valks.....ahem, sorry, Veritechs, it is clearly a camera/sensor module. In the case of Robotech, besides being all glowy and looking cool, lighting up the visor on the head unit serves no tactical purpose. I do recall the lights behind the head being used as spotlights, but a search and rescue scenario would be considered overt rather than covert. Anyway, if only those were illuminated (plus all the other normal aircraft lights), I probably wouldn't get so pissy about it, lol!
  3. Pretty sure the whole movie is available on youtube in HD.
  4. Did you check to see if your Veritech was made in Japan? Kind of weird that they were able to produce a toy with so many similarities with the chunky monkey and not get any flak for it. Also, was wondering if anybody knows whether they made any Inbit toys in Japan? It sort of boggles my mind thinking that they made Robotech Invid toys in Japan, but no bad guy Mospeada toys were ever produced for the local market over there.
  5. Still irks me when I see the heads illuminated. Yeah, I know Bandai did it with the DX prototype, but Robocrap has been the biggest offender when it comes to illuminated valk heads. The head unit is essentially a camera unit. When was the last time you saw the camera unit on a fighter plane or drone with an illuminated camera pod? When do you see any cameras (news, film, film etc) illuminated period? On NODS/NVG, you might get a little green light leaking and spilling out from the view screens, but not enough to give away your position. They always exaggerate that $hit on TV and movies, but if you cranked up the brightness that high in real life, you'd be screwed for a good long time after taking them off. Exaggerated green light spill: No military in the world: Robotech: Let's light up our Veritech head to give away our position and make sure the enemy knows where to shoot.
  6. I think the actress must be doing a decent job for us to hate her character that much
  7. If I bought as many valks and accessories as some others here, Miller or Coors lite would be the only thing I could afford to drink.
  8. Curious, where is it made? My Robotech In bit toys were actually made in Japan, lol!
  9. Yeah, I think most folks are of the opinion that they'll release a Roy, me included, haha!
  10. So....all said and done, this thing will work out to about ¥200,000? Plus who knows how much the Strike Pack will be. Damn......Sucks to be poor, lol!
  11. Yeah, it looks like it was supposed to transform. They went as far as cloning the chunky's leg swing bars. I saw a few customs floating around out there, not sure if anyone ever completed one that was 3 mode capable., Childhood memories right? I think I have two or three Inbit, maybe a Regult.
  12. Christ, that thing is gnarly, lol! Even at 10 years old, I knew that thing was all kinds of strange. The 1J head with the 1S lasers, the swing bar from the chunkies (but the inability to fully transform, wtf?!), the incorrectly mounted gunpod, the super pack with missing arm and leg armor, the funky missiles and the weird proportions overall, hahahahahaha! I'm not going to lie, I threw some money at some Robotech toys back then, but I knew this thing was not something I wanted because it was just so off, lol!
  13. I have a few friends from class that actually met Ray Park at a few wushu events (before he did Star Wars). He was good (the actor), there's no doubt about it. And for anyone reading my post, I didn't mean to come across as ragging on wushu. I really did enjoy it when I studied it. I was never good enough to compete, but some of my classmates definitely did at the international level (hence seeing Ray Park at those events), but it was fun at the time. Not for the old though....it will fuk up your knees and your back, and a big problem with some of the weapons is disproportionate muscle developement, especially when it comes to the one-handed weapons like dao or jian.
  14. I still have it....it's in rough shape, yellowed where the window would have been, box is long gone (cut it up and posted the pictures into a scrap book). Still have the foam, but it's also in rough shape. The toy itself is in one piece, nothing broken and still transforms perfectly, but it just looks rough. The yellow paint covering the red was done with a paint brush, freehand, so it looks as good as a 10 year old can manage, lol! As bad looking as it is though, I don't think I could bring myself to sell it. It was a birthday present from my dad and I remember it was a big deal for my parents to shell out that kind of coin (even back then) for a toy. Happy memories, despite me completely destroying it, lol!
  15. I fukking hate the twirls. Having studied Wushu for 15 years, I accepted the Maul fight in Phantom Menace was fun to watch when it first came out, a nice change compared to anything we'd seen before. By the time it got to Revenge of the Sith, I felt like they went a little overboard. That last fight between Obi Wan and Anikin was just silly. There seemed to be more twirling than actually attempting to strike the opponent. I liked wushu, I enjoyed it at the time, and still appreciate it for being excellent exercise and difficult to perform to the standards set by China. But after studying Iaido for nearly the same amount of time (with maybe 5 years overlapping), I was of the opinion that Wushu is gymnastics with weapons....and not very realistic weapons. The sword forms were just a sword dance, with the floppy swords, with which the primary goal was to make as much noise as possible and be as flashy as can be. Actual combat techniques using many of the weapons used in Wushu died with the cultural revolution. I felt that the Japanese sword arts on the other hand, specifically Kenjutsu and Iaijutsu, preserved the fundamentals better. There was more focus on the effectiveness of the cuts, rather than focus on making the biggest noise and looking good. Before I left wushu completely, I tried some of the forms with some of live blades from Hanwei/Paul Chen. If you didn't cut yourself trying to do some of the forms, you developed tennis elbow very quickly because live blades are A LOT heavier than the toys we trained with. The Star Wars Rebels fight between older Obi Wan and Maul was done exceptionally well. There are a few good reviews of that fight, but it was done very well and it helped bridge the HUGE gap between Clone Wars era Obi Wan and ANH Obi Wan.
  16. I'd be totally fine if Poe and Finn got separate stories...yeah, I see them as pals, but the existing bromance and anything potentially beyond all seems forced to me. It'd be cool to see Rey off to do her own films, maybe Poe and Zorii Bliss, there's definitely some potential there. As for the conflict/antagonist, well, I really hope they don't feel the need to one up the fleet of Death Star powered Star Destroyers.
  17. I repainted my Hikaru 1/55 Strike to a Roy by hand when I was 10 years old.....regretted it ever since, lol! With the Bandai DX series, I think I'll wait, haha!
  18. Binge watched the entire 2nd season the other day, liked it, want more. I like this series, maybe I'm easily amused but I didn't find myself bothered a lot of things that seem to irk others here. Maybe it's old age, maybe it's the sleep deprivation (have two screaming kids, the 1.5 year old doesn't want to sleep until 3am every night), but I was able to binge watch it without getting bored. The only thing that irked me was how quick the last episode came and because I wasn't paying attention to how many episodes there were in the season, it was a total surprise that I got to the end so quickly. Going off topic a little here, but I never watched the original TV series, ,l but I really liked the 1998 film. I found it really cool that Dick Tufield, the original voice actor for the Robot reprised his role for the the 1998 film. I was reading some of the plot for the original series and was pretty surprised how close the 1998 film followed the original story. This series is quite different in many respects, but is still enjoyable. Toby Stephens as John Robinson....hard to imagine he was Gustav Graves in Die Another Day. He was also pretty awesome in 13 hours. I'm not good with faces, so this whole time, I thought he was John C McGinley (one of the Bobs) from Office Space, lol!
