That PO left a really bad taste in my mouth. First attempt to stay up and PO and it was a nightmare. I'm choked I'll have to pay probably 10,000 yen more than MSRP when it eventually gets released. Are prices on Kakis slowly creeping up already?

Finally completed - 1/48 Hasegawa VF-1J Super/ Strike
peter replied to vincemoto7's topic in Model kits
Nice job, I hope mine turns out that nice when I eventually get to it. Big fan of gray Valkyries Was it easier to do wheels up on the 1/48 compared to the 1/72? Are you going to mount it to a stand or something? I did wheels up on my 1/72s, but I didn't want to drill any holes in them so I just balanced them on spare hex keys I had laying around. It's really sketchy, lol! -
@Nyankodevice I've never done anything with paper apart from making paper cranes. Is this something someone like me should even bother attempting? Is this something that can be e-mailed and I just print them on my printer, or do I have to take them to a print shop and get it done on different quality paper? Sorry for all the questions, but your build was mind-blowing and quite intimidating.

I was just going to paint mine gray and go over the whole thing with Tamiya panel lining, but after seeing yours, I don't think I can in good conscience be lazy now. Damn you.

Lol, that is so tiny, I can't believe the level of detail in such a small piece, wow!

Hey guys, is ¥ 26,280 the going rate for the Kakizake at most places? I don't need shipping outside Japan, if there are other shops in Japan that have the thing for cheaper, does anyone know?
-
Holy crap, $60 to ship from Ontario to Vancouver?!? Oh well, what the hell, I'll throw in a bid, but I doubt I'll get it, lol!
-
Oh, interesting. I have my in-laws place as a default shipping address for Amazon Japan.
-
Lol!
-
¥26,290 is the cheapest right now

I do, from last June! Hahahahaha!!!

I don't watch STD, but I like this design. This is what the JJPrise should have looked like!

Holy $hi.......

This is awesome, keep up the great work!

One of the K'Tingas is missing parts so what I'll do is work the look into battle damage. I always envisioned Klingon ships to be well worn and a bit beat up from combat. The neck on one of them is missing the fan section so I filed the area a bit and I'll add som greebles inside the hole Also, one of the nacelles was broken and I'll re-attach it but will work some battle damage/repair work into it because it's going to look mangled when I fix it, lol! Held together with nails and glue, lol! I'll probably fab up some repair plates and glue them on like the patchwork done to the refit to cover up those ugly nails.

Man, that site is a wealth of info. @MechTech oh, hardware is coming out for these zombies K'Tingas, lol! Will upload some pics later, hahahaha!

So, I saw this on FB today. https://mobile.twitter.com/frasco5752/status/1216645125142528000?s=20&fbclid=IwAR3aNihtqqtbwAQX-dopishi1Zi8IIoOU75Rts0vN1jB9phugJbAn3iWmW8 I've been so focused on my Star Trek refurbishments recently, I totally forgot I have a pile of old Macross kits I did as a kid that I could refurbish one day. And since most of them are broken and missing parts, they are perfect candidates for "battle damage" builds! Might be a while before I get to them, but I don't want to forget about this idea so I'm just posting my thoughts here.

There's someone here that scanned it and actually scaled it up to 1/1600. It is absolutely massive and a very impressive build. I would love to do one up as well, but even if I had the files, i'm not sure I could build it without looking like a total POS.

Thanks! Back to the Auto-Destruct Ent Refit, I just noticed on the studio model that the impulse appears to be missing: Also, part of the saucer popped open. I guess AMT got something right?

So, I have two K'Tingas, and I'm starting to remember one of them mght have been a garage sale find. I remember having two, but I don't remember building one this badly: Some serious glue chunks I need to clean up. Started sanding here and there. So, I wonder how many Klingons can actually fit in that neck area when going from the bridge to the back of the ship, lol! I guess it would make a smaller target to hit. Anyway, the neck on one of these was broken so I had to figure out how to re-attach the bridge unit to the neck. A chunk of the neck was still stuck in the bridge section so I yanked it out, and glued it back to the neck and reinforced it with a sprue. Will find something to cap the top and stick it back in there. I was going to reinforce it with a steel or brass rod, but I'm just going to refurbish this thing with whatever I have in the house and not go out if I don't have to. I was going to order some Tamiya rattle cans, remembered my plan to put as little additional money into these (apart from the decals) kits as possible. I also have a few cans of Rustoleum OD cam paint sitting on my shelf so hopefully I can dust on that stuff instead of gooping it on and losing all of the detail, lol!
-
Oh wow, that is a really clean build. Awesome! Closing the landing gear doors was a collosal pain in the buttocks for me.
-
I have one of those sitting in my pile, nice work!

After a few days of soaking in pure Simple Green and periodic scrubbing, this was the best I could do. I couldn't get 100% of the paint off, but at least I got most of my grade 8 brush strokes off. I'll accept the remainder as texture. Anyway, Klingon ships shouldn't be too pretty, lol! Started to fill in seam lines. These kits are in rough shape, lol!

That is a lot of detail for such a tiny kit!

And here I was, thinking how clever I was making plates to replicate the repair work on the side of the Enterprise. Still waiting on some decals so not a very exciting update. I heard that on the studio model, those plates were actually decals because they didn't want to permanently damage the model.
