1. According to Jeremy Clarkson, the Veyron is lightyears above every car ever made, including the McLaren F1, the Enzo, the Merc/McLaren SLR, the Carrera GT, which all are "slow and pointless" compared to the Veyron. Not to mention it's a marvel of engineering... it weighs an arseload but it handles like Lotus Elise, apparently. Every Veyron cost VW like 4 million a car, so they're taking a 3-million dollar hit for every car they sell. Of course, the only thing he didn't like is the fact that he knew he would never own one The idea that a tuner car, even one with 1000 HP could match the Veyron is also laughable. 383885 Don't get me wrong....if I was uber-rich, I'd definetly get one....or more....but alas, last time I checked, I'm quite poor and not in a position to get one...let alone try to tune a lesser car to match the Veyron's numbers.
2. While you eat rotten oranges, i'll save myself 60,000 dollars and eat some brand new apples. Maybe a Mustang won't hold it's own against an NSX but a ZO6 Vette with a proper suspension would, and you still save 30,000 dollars; i can buy a brand new STI/EVO for that kinda money and also beat an NSX around a track with either one of those cars for that matter. Anyone who pays 500,000 for an NSX-R isn't going to drive it, you can be sure that it went straight to a collector who's just going to put it into a garage as a trophy. It's just like the people who paid 100,000 for the GTR R34 Z-Tunes (basically a street legal JGTC race car), you can be sure that the few people that own them (500 made) are probably garaging them or very rarely bringing them out (but for the sake of measure, that car would kill the NSX on a track and in a straight line and still costs the same as a regular NSX and 400,000 less than the NSX-R: Even a stock GTR R34 will destroy an NSX). You should talk to Yellowlightman, he owns one of those himself. Any other plans for the car besides rebuilding the motor? 383769 The reason I said you were comparing apples and oranges is you're comparing a car that's been around for 15 years (way overdue for a replacement) to a car that's been around for a lot less. You can piss on the NSX all day, there are a lot of cars fo cheaper than can outperform the NSX today, but it's not always about money. Some people just like certain cars. You can cry about how overpriced the NSX is until the cows come home, but again, the bottom line is Honda can sell the NSX for 90,000 because there are people are willing to pay. They don't particularly care if you, emajnthis or me Peter, can save 60,000. Someone out there with 90,000 is willing to hand their money over for an NSX....if it was even still in production. Personally, I think 1,200,000 fo a Bugatti is a total waste of money. I would rather modify a GT-R or a 911, or even an NSX to the tits, maximum road legal modiications. I would probably have to dump over 200,000 into any of those vehicles to perform the way the Bugatti does, but certainly not 1,200,000...you think Bugatti cares what I think? But if I was the Sultan of Brunei, I'd probably pick up a few Veyrons without crying over the price tag. And for that matter, I'd have a fleet of NSXs. The funniest thing about this debate is that I doubt either of us are in a position to buy a new NSX, or Z-tune anyways. I don't know about you, but I'm poor as *uck. Already struggling just to get more Macross toys!
3. How about a properly tuned NSX versus a properly tuned Fort Mustang GT? If you're going to modify one, you should modify the other. Otherwise, it's comparing apples and oranges.....expired oranges that is, considering the age of the NSX. Haha, even still, I'd eat my rotten oranges. Speaking from a personal standpoint, I'd rather have a '92 NSX over a '05 Mustang GT. I've driven stangs and they are fun cars, but I guess I just like NSXs better. It's not that great in a straight line, but it can still hold it's own....it isn't the slowest car on the car quartermile. It's specialty is not the quarter mile. The NSXs talents shine on a nice road course. Now, put a professional drive behind the wheel and it can do wonders. An older NSX may not be that bad. Honda built a strong motor, even in the older ones. And like any old car, you're going to have to expect to dump money into it. It's way overdue for a replacement, but still fun to drive. Someone mentioned earlier about it not being worth 90,000 USD. Well, the big questiong here is not whether you or I would spend that kind of money to have one. It's whether or not SOMEONE would spent that kind of cake on one...and there are people out there who would. As long as there are people willng to spend the money, Honda can ask whatever they want. Here's another example of how meaningless our opinion on the NSX price tag is. Honda had 5 limited edition NSX-R GTs that had a few ugly body mods and no hp increase whatsoever. They asked 500,000 each and they were all sold before they were even made. If you wrote to Honda and said that they want to much, I don't think you would hurt their feelings.
4. Roy should have lived, or could have? Roy's death could have been easily prevented in the TV show. It's not like his wound was untreatable. How much time passed between initial injury and death? More than five minutes right? He was slowly bleeding for a long time. Even a minor stomach will kill you in under five minutes. My guess is he was bleeding for at least 45-60 minutes. He died because he was stubborn and too tough to go to the hospital. "meh, minor flesh wound....it'll heal itself". Now, in DYRL, his death might not have been that easy to prevent...however, my personal feeling on the matter is that Roy was extremely neglegent for an ace/veteran Valkrie pilot. If Hikaru could survive with an unarmed Ostrich, Roy should have been able to escape unscathed. Well, maybe it was just bad luck...poo happens to even the best. Now, whether Roy should have been written in the story to have lived to the end, well that would have changed the story completely. I think his character had more appeal because he bit it. It left us as fans wanting more, or wishing for more....and more was delivered in Macross Zero. We got more Roy, just like we asked. Personally, I wanted to see him more in the VF-1S but can't have everything I guess.
5. The super toy thread is winning.
6. Hmmm...I think I've seen custom 1/48s here at Macrossworld that look better than what Yamato is planning on releasing. Yamato should have consulted some people here before making a decision on new color schemes.
7. Hmmm...interesting point. Sometimes I forget Minmay is Chinese.
8. I dunno, looks like he's pinching a loaf to me.
9. I'd like two sets...how does this work, if you make them, we send you a check and you mail them to us? Sorry, never done this before.
10. It took some time to just slap it together actually, never mind taking the time to trim and repaint. If I wasn't so lazy, I would probably would take the time to trim all the nubs from removing it from the sprues, file down some of the rough edges, and re-paint some of the parts where I left nasty cut marks.....but again, I'm too lazy and it looks more or less fine without having to do all that. It's a lot heavier and bigger than I thought it would be. It's got a sick amount of detail. From the pictures, you'd think it's already pretty detailed, but the whole thing comes apart with stuff inside you can't see from my pictures! There is detail on parts where you're never going to look. I just removed the outer panels to show some of the guts of the ship, but there are panels underneath panesl underneath more panels! You can break down the superstructure and it even looks like they attempted to detail the bridge area. I can't even guess what the part count is for this box-toy. All I can say is, it's a lot. If I were to break down the entire toy and laid out the peices, I doubt i'd be able to reassemble it, let alone recognize all the parts. The individual sections of the ship come partially assembled. The guns on the side of the ship are the biggest pain in the ass. It takes a bit of trial and error to fit all the parts together, overall, it stays together. Anyways, worth the 4,000 yen. Worth every yen. By the way, it's not all there. I left the tiny fighters out of the pics...too lazy to take them all off the sprues right now....
11. Trying to post some pics....doesn't seem to be working...hang on.
12. Samurai M offered to Takubin it to me while I was over there (thanks again for the offer) but I found one at a local toy store:
13. Well, had I missed that train, I could always catch the next one,no problem, but I'd be stranded in Tokyo for the night. My ultimate destination was Nagaoka in Niigata-ken. Anyways, here I am now, in Nagaoka! I checked in for Osaka, but walked over to the gate for Narita and they said they had one seat left. I got business class! Anyways, the flight arrived a bit late, but I still had tons of time to catch the Joetsu shinkansen to Nagaoka and here I am now......freezing my ass off in this winter country side. By the way, Samurai M, the local toy store is sold out of the Yamato toy....do you have any left? Haha, can you takubin it to my girlfriend's house before I go back to Canada? Haha, don't worry about it....I'll look around a bit more here.
14. wa wa ,kan de dong ,ji ben dou dui . WAWA ,I am understand all ~Your Chinese is right to the basic~ My English.....T___T ..... Completely can't..Just translate the software to help ... ....... 356985 Haha, ni tai ke qi le. Wo de peng you dou shao wo, shuo wo de guo yu nan ting dao tu shue. translation: Your're too kind. My friends all laugh at me, saying my Mandarin sucks to the point of vomiting blood.
15. I'm crapping myself now. My girlfriend just told me they cancelled the Joetsu shinkansen all day the other day due weather. 4 meters of snow? Holy crap. Oh well, I'm going to the airport in a few hours....can't think about stuff like that now.
16. Well, I hope I can make it....who knows, if I get out early enough, maybe I can catch the train leaving at 1718.....doubt it though. I was supposed to meet that Save Robotech guy in November, but I guess he didn't have the time. I was in Ueno for a couple of hours and he was working in Akihabara? Anyways, I'll be going by there again on my way home this time. So, you live in Osaka? I see you've got an online toy store....do you have a shop as well? This caught my eye: I'll probably be going through Osaka again in March....maybe we can meet up. I'm going to Kure to check out the Yamato Museum and maybe stop in Onomichi to see the 1/1 scale movie set for Yamato the movie.
17. 357594 I'll be on one tomorrow. I was supposed to go to Tokyo direct from Vancouver, but the flight is oversold so I'm catching a flight to KIX and getting a Shink to Tokyo. I'm totally stressed out about it. My schedule is tighter than a gnat's ass. Flight arrives in KIX at 1625. Train to Shin Osaka Eki leaves at 1745 arrives at the station at 1839. From there I catch the shinkansen at 1849 to arrive in Tokyo at 2126 (2hrs 37 minutes). Then I have to catch another shinkansen at 2140 to arrive in Nagaoka at 2328. I hope I don't get delayed in customs.
18. Dana, huan ying ni dao Macrossworld. Zao pian hen hao kan. Dui bu qi, wo de guo yu mei yo ni de ingwen hao. Translated from my butchered Mandarin : Dana, welcome to Macrossworld. Pictures look good. Sorry, my Mandarin isn't as good as your English.

Valkyrie Girl

Wow, that looks pretty good.
20. Suspicious......looks like two different kits to me:
21. Haha, too late guys...I'm headed for the train station in a few minutes and I won't have time to get it. If I change my mind, I can always get my girlfriend to pick it up for me....if it's still there. I can't imagine there are too many Macross fans here in the sticks.
22. I'm here in Japan right now and I just saw a used copy for 4,000 yen (about $40 CAD) It didn't have the poster though...everything else was in pretty damn good shape....almost new. 347929 and?!?! did you buy it?!?! Buy it!!! 347970 +1 Buy it and sell it to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! 348030 I was thinking about buying it but first of all, it's heavy, and I don't have any checked luggage to dump it in. Second, I flipped through it briefly and there are only about two pages worth of images that I want and don't have already. I have to take a 1.5 hr shinkansen station, stew in Ueno for about two hours, hop on a local train for another hour and a bit, and take a 9.5 hr flight back home, all the while carrying all my $hit on my back. All that blood and sweat for a couple of pages? Haha, we'll see....
