Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
peter replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, the biplane was a bad example, but there were 50 years between the Cheyenne I and II. Look at the advances between WWII aircraft and ones 50 years later. They don't look anything alike. Now, you go from destroids in Mac Zero....to more advance designs like in DYRL and TV show, then back to Mac Zero style Destroids. Why would military equipment go retro in design? -
Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
peter replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I haven't started watching Frontier yet, but I was flipping through the Mecha Manual and noticed something about the destroids.....is it me, or do they look like destroids from Macross Zero? I know it's supposed to be a redesign of the original UN era war destroid, but it seems a little silly to go retro for millitary applications. Cars I can understand...for marketing purposes. When was the last time you saw a modern military aircraft resemble a bi-plane? -
I thought that too, but isn't there some sort of transition period where the it slows down using the thrusters before full transformation? My question about post VF1 Valks is why do all subsequent valks have pointed feet and heels.......almost as if they're wearing.....heels? I suppose the old Frankenstein looking blocked toes had to be changed for a more futuristic design......

I've always wondered about the city in the legs thing. Does the city and civilian population occupy both legs or just one leg. And if there's a city in the legs, that doesn't leave much room for the engines does it? http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&id=66341 What does a cross section of thrusters typically look like? I don't know much about rockets and jet engines, but from what I've seen, they generally take up a good chunk of the nacelle and just about every cubic inch is put to good use.

Anyone seen this? Cat $hit One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr4QBZfjtqs

Well, those clips did it for me, I definitely want to see this new movie.

Amazing. I think the only way Macross Fans will see dreams come true is through other Macross fans. It's my hope to see someone build a huge SDF1, or a larger scale VF1, and someone probably will....eventually.

McDonald's Canada has discontinued their orange drink. For those of you who don't know, it's that orangy, non-carbonated concoction that tasted like sweetened Tang. I posted a little rant on my blog: http://oishizo.blogspot.com/2009/04/mcdonalds.html Did they even have this drink in the states? In Canada, they replaced it with Coke Zero.....just what we need, another Coke.

I guess no one's done it yet.....

Ok, lots of new toys coming out for Mospeada...but I haven't seen any news of new stuff coming out for the baddies......or maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. Are there any???? Also, those old Matchbox Inbit toys...anyone customize one of those with full ball joints etc? You know, there are loads of custom Chunky Monkey VFs out there....I think that old Matchbox toy has some potential. Has anyone seen any or done any?

1/24 scale VF-1 to go with my model car collection....if not, I'll settle for 1/32 scale.

Hey man, stranger things have happened. A few years ago, I found myself standing on the deck of a 1/1 scale IJN Yamato in Onomich, Japan. I'd always dreamed that it would happen, but thought deep down that it would never in a million years happen. Then they decided to make a movie about it, over 60 years after the sinking. Who knows what'll happen in the next few decades. They may just decide to make a half-decent live action Macross one day, and may just have to make a partial 1/1 scale mock up of parts of the SDF-1. If you don't dream about it, it'll never happen. It takes the dreams of fans to make these sort of things happen.
-
Haha, yeah, maybe 1/60 would be a little bit on the big side. I was thinking 1/350 to go with my Tamiya big battleship collection. Yeah, I know....not a chance in hell. Maybe MechTech will build the rest of the SDF-1 to go with the Daedalus he's putting together. I hear he's mass-producing it as an exclusive for MW members.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
peter replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
*puke* TF2 looks like a crappy version of the first movie. Just a bunch of metal shards running around with huge explosions. I grew up watching G1 and yeah, I know it's stupid for a 60 foot robot to turn into a 5 lb gun, but what the hell, they managed to pull off turning a giant metal cube into something that Spike hold hold like a football and run around the city in. The first movie had way too many useless human characters, portrayed by really horrible actors. The cartoon had what, two or three humans as main characters? Bay was very successful in making a nice, patriotic film that helped sell a lot of GM products. I lost $12 on a movie ticket and 143 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. This second one is defintely going to be a download for me. I enjoyed this video more than the first movie: -
Holy $hit. This thing is amazing so far. If they were ever going to make a live-action Macross, they should use your model as one of the minatures. So, you going to mass-produce this thing for Macrossworld members or what?
-
It would be nice to see more photoshop work of this quality.

Are there midichlorians in this movie? I just saw the trailer and reboot or not, one thing really bothers me. Construction of the Enterprise on Earth is utterly retarded. The NX-01 was constructed in space, all of a sudden their building them on the surface? And besides that, the shipyard looks like @$$. I feel insulted that Hollywood/Abrams is trying to pass this off to Star Trek fans as entertainment. I love the one Authorized Personnel sign...what? Really? Authorized personnel only, you don't say? I've seen more security at McDonald's.

What? No Mospeada bag guy toys/figures/models?
-
Bitch? Isn't remotely pretty? I dunno, I wouldn't kick her out of bed.

I can't wait to see this movie. I just hope it's as great as the last one.
