  1. Woops, missed that one. Thanks! I didn't know Shin was Japanese American.
  2. I watched season 1 and 2 about a month ago, and I just finished watching all three seasons of 30 Rock. Went back to watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles again and I can't take Charley Dixon seriously anymore. Dean Winters as Dennis in 30 Rock is hilarious, complete polar opposite of Charley Dixon....but from now on, he'll always be Dennis.
  3. Got a few questions here, not really sure if they're noob questions, but didn't think it warranted a thread on it's own. Anyways, coudn't find the answers to any of these in the cCompendium, just wondering what everyone else's thoughts are on these subjects regarding the relationship between Hikaru and Roy: - Hikaru is ethnic Japanese, Roy is probably of German decent but born in North America (Canada, US....who knows) so native English speaking. - Did Roy spent most, or some of his life in Japan, and that's why he can speak Japanese, understands Japanese culture, the whole sempai/kohai relationship? - Did he ever teach English in Japan, like every other foreigner in Japan? - How's Hikaru's English? Pretty fluent, or heavily accented? - Is the official language aboard the Macross Japanese? I've never watched the English dubbed version (except for the older Robocrap version), does it take into account accents, or is everyone speaking English at the native level? It'd be interesting if they took those issues into consideration when dubbing, or God forbid they ever make a live action Macross.
  4. It's tolerable if you are under the age of 10, or if you are under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or crack cocaine. Just finished watching Macross Frontier, so I'm pretty much caught up on everything Macross except some Mac 7 related stuff...
  5. I totally agree. Hasegawa isn't going to just stop at the YF-19. They'll put this one out to test the waters, if it's a success, expect to see everything else scaled up including the VF-1.....people will buy it. I know I will. I remember when I first heard about the 1/48 scale Tanmen VF-1S and how expensive it was......$600 USD for an original? Then Yamato's 1/48 came out, almost as much detail but for way cheaper. Just hope Bandai, Hasegawa and Yamato get into a bigger pissing contest and scale up to 1/32 eventually.
  6. I remember a few scenes in SDFM when Hikaru's pilotting Roy's 1S with the fastpacks and the Valk looked grey. When he re-entered Earth's atmosphere, it was white again.
  7. Me too. Although the idea of of a new show based on the original crew would be cool, it's not likely and sort of impossible (Hikaru's voice actor, and some other are no longer with us). I'd kill to see the VF-1 have more screen time....it was nice to see Hikaru's VF-1 in Frontier, as well as a few VF-1s in the airshow special, but it just left me wanting more. The VF-4 does absolutely nothing for me. Just looks hideous compared to the VF-1 All I can hope for is the original show with all the animation redone but keep the original voices, sound effects and music. It'd be nice if they threw in ai, oboete imasu ka? for the fleet battle like in the movie. This will never happen from the studio, one can only hope that in 15 or 20 years, a group of dedicated and skilled fans may get together and just do it. Maybe CGI will progress enough one day to the point where accomplishing this would be a piece of cake for anyone to do. Sorry, straying off topic here. Back to the topic, doubt anything will happen from the studio. What you hope for will only happen by the fans. That was hilarious, I can totally see that happening!
  8. Fills in a couple, makes a few more. Watched the movie again. Starting to understand the need for a reboot, new timeline/alternate universe. More freedom for writers so they don't have to constantly refer to what's canon. As Trek Fans, we pretty much know everything that has happened and is going to happen in the Trek universe. Now, we have no idea what they're going to do. They can now explore new ideas that they couldn't explore before...because of canon. I really loved original Trek, I'm fan of the old school, but I'm also excited to see where they will go from here. This new movie worked for me.
  9. Ah man, that's really crappy. I was really looking forward to seeing some more of this stuff. Yeah, I guess I enjoyed the story about John and Cameron more than Sarah..... I guess this franchise is pretty much dead....the movie's not doing so good either.
  10. I watched it again.....still like it. I really, really hope that they make more of this stuff. I can live with an altered timeline. Stuff that stood out for me this time around: The scene where MCoy and Kirk meet on the shuttlecraft....is that how he gets his nickname Bones? Cool stuff. The tradition of horrible red-shirt death during the space jump scene with Kirk and Sulu. Was it just me, or did some scenes make you guys a little emo too? Bar scene when Pike was talking to Kirk about his dad on the Kelvin "Your father was the captain of a star ship for 12 minutes, he saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours. I dare you to do better"
  11. Just got back from seeing this movie...no review, just a possible spoiler alert.... I thought it was ok, it didn't mess up the time line or story I don't think. I hope this helps out the franchise and Sarah Connor Cronicles. Arnie, or at least the likeness of Arnie is in it, and probably my favorite part. They made him look exactly the way he did in T1....huge, with the longer 80's hair and everything. Couldn't have done it better. He may have been entirely CG, I could be wrong though. GnR music from T2 was nice to hear.

    VF-1 Valkyrie

Looks good, keep up the good work. If fans keep doing things like this, maybe you can all get together and put together a movie or something.
  13. Well, looks like no one else is going to be the pig, so I'm just going to come out and say it. Dana, you are hot. BTW, nice costume and great pics.
  14. I loved the TV show, but I liked the quality of animation of the movie way better. My dream, which I know will never come true is the entire TV series re-animated with at least the same quality as DYRL. I don't want them to change the designs of the characters or mechs, just better animation quality. And I want them to use the original audio....no new dialogue or anything, just new animation. Besides, voice actor for Hikaru passed away quite sometime ago. But I know, never going to happen.
  15. Macross 7 took several hours of my life that I would like back. I would not recommend watching it. It's not required for your existence as a complete Macross fan. There was something else related to Macross 7....Dynamite 7 or something like that. I will not watch it. I should get around to watching Macross Frontier. That looks good. I don't even know if the series is complete yet.
  16. I'm struggling to figure out what you're trying to say.............now my head hurts.
  17. He wasn't around during the 80's...probably has no idea what you're talking about.
  18. Comparing all the movies, I liked the space scenes in this movie the best. All the crap floating around...it seemed....more real? I dunno, I have no idea why, it just did. There was one scene in the beginning when the Kelvin was under attack. All kinds of explosions, noise and hell going on inside of the ship, then the bulkhead in the corridor gives way and someone gets sucked out into....silence. I thought that was kind of nice. I really liked the way the Ent-A looked on screen....it looked good in space, but the Ent-D and Ent-E didn't have the same feel....I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't look right. This movie obviously looks different than the way space and the ships looked like in ST 1- 6, but it looked good....better than the Next Gen movies.
  19. Just watched it....a little of me died inside. Had to go back and listen to the original version....I don't care if it's a little 1980's.....
  20. Just watched the movie the other day. It was great visual eye-candy, some good humor and gags, lots of references to the original Trek, McCoy was really well done and the guy who played Pike was a believable character, overall, I was entertained.....but........my deep inner Trekkie self has a few dark thoughts: What Temporal Prime Directive? And all of Star Trek before this now exists in a parallel universe/alternate time line? I guess if there's a sequel, it will follow this time line? Is this the Macross II of Star Trek? I read some really good comments on the new movie here: http://blogcritics.org/video/article/movie...star-trek-2009/ Especially MC Burton's reply to the article
