  1. I was thinking I would just try to figure out how to upscale the warning labels.....the no steps, the beware of blasts, the intake warnings etc.....maybe the pilot name and stuff, the skull and Macross kites, but the main color stripes I would mask and paint. I have to do some more research and see where I want to go with it, but at this point, I'm probably leaning towards building it in Roy colors.
  2. Oooooo....I built one of these last year! Didn't do a very good job of it. For mine, I tried to fix the nose, and used a bunch of Hasegawa weapons, decals and pilot leftovers.
  3. Interesting you left the arm red. I finished my 1/72 Bandai Chunky. My two chunkies. Both were total experiments in customizing joints for ease of build. It was a good learning experience, but I don't think I want to build these particular kits ever again, hahaha! Pig in the middle was the one I build when I was a kid. The other two are just pigs with lipstick. It almost has a Millenium Falcon vibe to it, with all the different colors....it's more obvious in person, but some of the panels were painted in different shades of gray. Ok, I totally cheated with the leg armor....just saying the backs were blown off. The chunky's legs are actually too fat for the armor, so I would have had to shave the backs paper thin make them fit and didn't see a point in adding them if nobody looks, lol! VF-1J using the knife-hand to the VF-1A Of course, the knife-hand is always used by the chain of command so when the boss is around, he gets to use the knife hand.
  4. I get the sense that the Max/Milia colors are a lot of masking......
  5. Interesting you left an arm red..... I honestly don't know the background of this mecha, but its looking pretty cool.
  6. I've never experimented with magnets....those things look small....probably too small for my sausage fingers to handle. Great work on that CF. I've built multple 1/72 Super/Strikes.....wonder if I'll built multiple 1/48s when I eventually get to my first one.
  7. That's coming out really sharp. I should start pecking away at my Star Trek queue. I just helped a buddy pick up one of those 1/420 scale Defiants.....it's HUGE, lol!
  8. Man, that thing is so cool. I don't know what anime it's from, but I would probably throw a Macross Kite on there somewhere, hahahaha!
  9. Not a lot to report..... The 1/1000 kit came with a bunch of spare parts, looks like the aircraft hangar or something, no instructions to build it inside our out of the model. I know the Yamato 2199 version had this option, but this one is the 2202 version and there are actually some differences I noticed. The front end is actually wider than the older version. Lighting kit for the engines. What the kit calls for to light it. Sandwiched between the old 1/1000 kit, and older 1/500 Just working on the Yamato while the Pledge dries on my Chunky Valk Once the Pledge cures, decals and weathering.
  10. Geez, sorry to see that you're having decal trouble. I've seen others have that same issue with that particular decal. I only had one that almost fell apart, but I got it onto the panel and somehow managed to save it. Are the other decals on the sheet wrecked as well?
  11. Some color on the chocolate chunky: I'm glad I didn't build either 1/72 chunkies straight out of the box. The decals are more or less intact, so if I ever decide to rebuild my childhood chunky, I can still do that and have a complete set of retro decals. A 1/1000 Yamato also ended up on my work bench. These new Bandai kits are amazing to build. They go together with hardly any effort, the detail is amazing, and the lighting.....its like they were engineered specifically for dummies like me who can barely light a Barbeque, let alone a model.
  12. Nice! Is the new 1/48 snap/press fit like the Battroids?
  13. That is amazing, taking something from a game and making it real??!? I would have no idea how to do that.
  14. I found flight mode for the 1/72s quite difficult. I did it for 4 Valkyries and it never got easier, haha! OK, my Yamato is really distracting me from my mess of a Valkyrie. Attempted some post shading on the upper hull. Also mucked around with that rainbow effect on the engine. It's not awesome, but I think it's an improvement over the straight rattle can finish I left it at a few years ago. Before: After: Some cross genre fun.
  15. Was just painting up a few black parts on the Bandai chunky, and had some black left over in the airbrush so I pulled my Yamato off the shelf for some post shading practice. One of the first models I build after my 17 year hiatus. I was pretty happy with it at the time, rattle cans only, and I may have brush painted the deck, but it always bugged me how factory fresh it looked. I just worked on panels below the waterline tonight, black on red just to add some character. Will do the upper tomorrow.
  16. LOL! Maybe one day, as an interesting method of preshading?? Hahahaha!
  17. A other chocolate Valkyrie
  18. Gear up....was it as much of a PITA as it was with the 1/72s? I never want to do a gear up 1/72 Valkyrie again, lol!
  19. If you see my scribing work, you will feel better about yours
  20. I like the longer one. That is one cool looking mech.
  21. I didn't really get into Mac F and never watched Mac D, but that look awesome. I never really paid much attention to the drones, apart from Mac+. Are they all derived from the original drones seen in SDFM, or are they drastically different?
  22. Not on my workbench, but it is a build. Almost there. Two panels to go. As for what is actually on my workbench.... This mess of parts. Sorry @MechTech I decided to go with the fixed Battroid instead. On closer inspection, the variable version would actually be a lot more work..... For me at least since I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Looking forward to your build and see how you approach it. I might build the variable as a fixed Gerwalk later on, with some spare Hasegawa parts thrown in. I have a complete nose, cockpit and fuselage parts that came with the Super Ostrich and Elintseeker.
  23. Organization is a good feeling. I always find it a struggle to keep it clean and organized.
  24. That is cool! Was that originally a toy or model? I don't think I've ever see one of those.
  25. Now I want to build a prop plane.... This ace, I tell you.... Such a bad influence
