  1. Don't even start..............word gets around that you're a girl, all the little nerds here will be on you like fat kid in a candy store.
  2. Defintely. The last few years have seen a lot of Yamato (IJN and Spacebattleship) stuff being released in Japan. That awesome 1/350 scale model/toy came out around the time the IJN Yamato live-action movie came out, loads of books and magazines were flooding the shelves, even a monthly magazine/model came out...the pachinko game, the new animated movie and now this live-action movie. It's defintely seen years of planning.
  3. EXO's a girl? EXO, all this time I thought you were a dude...........ma'am....sorry.
  4. I'm hoping for a life-size Nitiri Real Doll.....well, one that's 5'6 will do.
  5. Yes, hot naked chicks....er, I mean, tall blue chicks with tails....right.... I think CG in movies is only going to increase, and what film makers are hoping to accomplish one day are effects that you can't tell are CG. That's what pioneers like Cameron are working towards. Compared to say, Tron and STIII, the earliest use of CG, there have been leaps and bounds in advancement. The rate it's going, they may be able to make some pretty cool $hit in the next decade or so. Maybe even bring back dead actors, or at least their likenesses. It was cool to see a younger Arnold's face as Terminator again, sure it didn't look perfect, but in about 5 or ten years, we won't be able to tell the difference. And let me get just a bit off topic, but it is my hope that live-action sequences for SDF Macross and DYRL will be made one day....that Pachinko commercial that came out was pretty cool, imagine what they could do if they dumped a lot of time and money into it? Of course, I hope that Hollywood doesn't get their rat-claws and hand it to a jackass like Michael Bay, like they did with Transformers. Macross CG/live action should be made by the fans though, fans who will do the original designs justice.....and if CGI technology keeps on advancing, it might be done, possibly by members of Macrossworld, in about 10 years or so.
  6. Apology accepted. Exo, can you finish your thing about the giant scorpions, it's so facinating.....haha, kidding. I love movies about giant creatures....giant scorpions, giant spiders, giant women...all cool. While we're on the matter of giant things, what about the giant blue dudes in our favourite anime? Their 60 *ucking feet tall, can shrink in a capsule of bubbly $hit and successfully mate with humanoids from Earth. ......so, what's the problem with a hot 12 foot blue chick with a tail?
  7. A thousand apologies your highness, I will pay closer attention next time. Thank you for your supervision. Why are people going over the plausibility of the science behind the movie with a fine-tooth comb? It's science fiction, not science fact. I suppose Clash of the Titans is going to get a lot of bad press because of the impossibility of giant scorpions and witches with snake hair that are so ugly they turn you to stone. Yeah, I know, Clash of the Titans is a fantasy, not sci-fi, but at the end of the day, they're both just movies, stories - fictitious works of art. They're meant to entertain, not meant for you to dissect and analyze until it's no longer fun. Why even bother going to the movies if it has to be as precise as a science text book? If I want to watch a documentary on alien planets, I'll watch one. Avatar is just a movie....a movie that has now taken 12 hours of my life and about $60 of my hard earned money, but that's okay, I was entertained.
  8. Holy $hit...................can't argue with that.
  9. Once you're at the top of your game, there's only one place to go, and that's down. People expected Cameron to fail, maybe even wanted him to fail, and when he didn't, it just pissed them off further. I didn't read any of the commentaries, predictions, or hate-threads based on the teasers and trailers, nor did I go watch this movie because someone told me to or said it was worth watching. I had no idea what this movie was about and went in a completely blank slate, not knowing what to expect. I figured it couldn't be as crappy as that Final Fantasy movie that came out a few years ago (Spirits within?). I was just bored one night and went to see it. It was just luck that I bought the tickets ahead of time, albeit I had to sit in the very front row, on the very far left seat, but somehow I still found myself liking the movie, even though my view was complete crap and my neck hurt for days after. And as I said in an earlier thread, I'm so glad I didn't read any of that $hit before I went to see the movie. It's too bad for those who hated it, or thought they would hate it didn't enjoy the movie like I did. I'm not going to try and make people like it or make them say it's a good movie....All I can say is, too bad for you that you can't draw the same satisfaction from it as I have. Yeah, I'd say Cameron phucking awesome, but the reality is he can't win 'em all over.
  10. I'm confused, are we talking about Yamato Live action, or Yamato Animated?
  11. Hmmm...maybe it's my age, but Gone with the Wind doesn't really do it for me.......
  12. It's ok, just gave me an excuse to watch it again...MORE! GIVE US MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, the hair and he jacket are spot on.
  13. Haha, found some interesting notes on Wiki today: "Before its release, various film critics and fan communities predicted the film would be a significant disappointment at the box office, much like had been thought of Cameron's previous film Titanic (though it later became the highest-grossing film of all time, unadjusted for inflation)." "After only 18 days of being released, Avatar has come to gross $360,209,452 in the United States and Canada and $673,264,063 in other territories with a worldwide total of $1,033,473,515, making it the fastest film to hit the $1 billion mark.[3][4] This now makes the film the fourth highest grossing of all time.[17]" I think a line from Tina Fey is probably what Cameron is now quietly thinking about his critics... "You can suck it"
  14. Yeah, Connery's look from Hunt for Red October would be pretty close.........except he needs to be 3 feet shorter, 50 lbs heavier, and fluent in Japanese.
  15. Hey fellas, sorry about the trouble....I was looking around for what I thought was a more recent thread about the live-action movie....I ended up digging up something from 2006...
  16. My second time watching it was in 2D in a crappy ghetto theater because the nice 3D Imax theater was sold out.......it still rocked.
  17. Hey Man, they got the hair pretty damn close....look at the mop on Takuya Kimura. The captaiin's perfect...got the scruffy voice, the look....this movie should be good. I have to agree with taksraven, there's not much there that made me think, "what the hell, that's not right" Besides, it's not going to be released until December 2010 so they've got a while to sort their $hit out. Just hope that the CG isn't as bad as Yamato live action (WWII IJN Yamato) - I really liked the movie and I appreciate the effort put into the movie, not to mention the 1/1 scale mock up of the ship, but the CG effects weren't very good. Someone mentioned live action Sailor Moon?
  18. Talk about reviving dead threads...I did a search for that other thread about the live-action Yamato coming out and this is all that came up.....well, now that the teaser trailer is out, any thoughts? Here are my two cents...*UCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! The ship looks pretty much like in that Pachinko commercial except way more gritty. Wish there was more footage available. I love the way they kept a majority of the original designs.....See, it can be done. Transformers live action needs a remake......
  19. Holy *ucking $hit....I didn't know a teaser was released.... Tried to find the live action thread, but it seems to be gone?
  20. I think this thread deserves to be pinned.....anyone else agree?
