The Transformers 3 Thread--A Michael Bay Thread
peter replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just read through that lengthy, but good review. Thanks for posting! That bit about product placement is sickening. Hasbro, you suck at making toys, so get your dirty little fingers out of the designs. I was surprised to see non-GM vehicles in this movie though. -
Thanks for sharing, I've been a subscriber to that blog for some time now, nice to spread the word about it!

Sorry, Bayformers only have time to develop useless human characters. Speilberg has lost his integrity for making good films, all he's concerned with is the bottom line - $$. To me, he's soiled his good name with his association to this movie and Michael Bay. The reason Bay is still at the helm is because Bayformers is making money. With all the complaints I read about these movies, it's a miracle they're successful at the box office. Come to think of it, the animated movie was also a cash-grab if I remember correctly. They killed off all the old bots and introduced new characters so they could sell new toys. That was actually said in the extras on the DVD. On the bright side, I started watching a cam version last night and I'm not seeing any of the problems the 3D supposedly has -

Haha, acid, meth, weed, I think I'd have to be really, really baked (while on all three) to like the twins, let alone miss them. -
Nice! Stupid question, will this monster ever see water?
-
Wow, that's a nice build, got any close ups of the cockpit area by any chance?

Weed or acid? -
It's a shame about the WWII Yamato movie, considering they built that huge set (two thirds of the ship was reproduced in 1/1 scale). I agree with your comment on the 60's/70's design of a spaceship for Space Battleship Yamato, it does look dated, but with every new iteration (Resurrection and Live Action 2010), they keep adding details and minor changes to make the appearance acceptable. I think Japanese studios still haven't been able to seemlessly blend live-action with CGI yet. There was a similar scene in WWII version where there's the outside of the ship and the camera zooms into the bridge....same thing with the 2010 film and both didn't look right. Well, like I said, looking forward to the remake in another 10 years!

Looking forward to seeing this film....AVP really messed me up as far as the timeline is concerned I hope this will straighten things out. -
Are you talking about the live action movie about IJN Yamato (WWII) or live action Uchu Senkan Yamato? If you're talking about the latter they're talking about it in this thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18798

I'll watch a cam version....sounds like it might hide some of the flaws. -
Woah, the Rock's on board? As stupid and painful as the first movie was, I may go watch this one just cause the Rock's in it. I just hope that Duane Johnson plays The Rock in the new movie.

I still wish I was in on this action, but I can't wait to see some of the builds! Did Kurt or WM Cheng buy one of these? I'd kill to see one of them build one of these bad boys.

That sounds about right, but I think quoting Shia's "No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-NO!" is about right, haha! It's sort of like the way we remember Vader saying "Luke, I am your father" but really it's "No, I am your father" -

Was Monsieur LaBeouf doing that again in T3? Seems like it's the only line he knows. -

Don't give them any stupid ideas. -
Wow, that Scion's FR-S Concept looks really good. I'm a Honda guy myself so it pains me to say nice things about Toyota, but wow. It would be nice to see the Supra resurrected, but is this thing picking up after the Celica? For the record, when it came to racing (JGTC), the Supra did better with Yamaha's 4 banger than the factory issue 6 cyclinder twin-turbo.

My thoughts exactly, but I didn't say anything at the time because I'd probably get flamed again by all the Michael Bay lovers. That other trailer, titled "Shut up and eat your Awesome" demonstrates that Bay is clearly defensive about how crappy his work is....or at least his fans are defensive about how crappy his work is. It almost seemed like propoganda and it was positively surreal watching people eat it up. -

Thanks Keith, That's why I love coming here.....whenever there is any doubt in my mind about a story, or plot, or whatever, there's always someone who can put me back on track - in fantasy world, where everything makes sense, haha! Just watched episode 18 of season two, hilarious that two members of M*A*S*H (Trapper and Hawkeye) were once clone troopers. =)- 1217 replies

Clone turned farmer? WTF? I thought they couldn't disobey orders? But then again, nobody actually gave an order to return to the army. I wonder if he heard order 66, would he leave his family and try to kill a jedi?- 1217 replies

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
peter replied to capt.actionjackson's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Haha, true, it would be pretty hard to pull off. But then again, there was Yamato Rebirth in 2009. I wish there was more of the ship....I wonder if there are any technical manuals out yet based on the movie ship. I want to see detailed pictures of the live-actionb movie ship and compare the differences between it and the various anime incarnations of Yamato. It looked like this version kept alot of IJN Yamato's hardware intact (in appearance anyway). The main guns looked almost exactly like WW2 version.- 450 replies
