  1. There's no possible way with Disney calling the shots. It will be a children's show and when Vader is having a lightsaber duel with Donald and at the end, when they come to a draw, he takes off his mask, it will reveal Goofy grinning back at you. The evil of Darth Vader should have been portrayed in an R-rated horror movie, but it's just not going to happen.
  2. I guess they can't call it just Macross because even in the Macross segments of Robopoo, the story is different and the character names are different. In the ugly words of antibiotictab, Robotech really is "just using the other guy's properties", there's no two ways about it. Or if you want to get technical, not so much properties but someone else's creation, ie Macross. You my friend, are taking this thing way too seriously. Here at Macrossworld.com, we have had the debate about Robotech/Harmony Gold and Macross for more than 10 years. I've hated Robotech for even longer than that and I personally thing it's a butchered copy of the Japanese originals, but that is my opinion, probably shared by many people here. There was even a time when we had internet battles (as ghey as that sounds) with the people at Robotech.com in the early days. Trust me, there are a great many people who do not like Robotech and ithe people responsible for it. It's just that over the last 10 years, most people don't care about it anymore, or perhaps the flame wars got so out of control that the moderators just don't let them start anymore, but don't think for a moment that hating Robotech is a new idea here. You've only been a member here since last year, but members used to be a lot more vocal about it. I guess a lot of us are just getting old, getting over it, or just don't care anymore. Nobody's quarelling with you about "what can you do" That wasn't my point. If Japanese fans created something like this, we would absolutely love to watch it, but nobody is doing it. The best thing we've had recently is the Pachinko cut-scenes and beleive me, I wish there were more. I think everyone here wishes there were more. We would love for there to be new material from Japan, but all we can do right now is wait and hope. These guys from South America are doing their best, at least It think they are. I really don't think they are professionals, I think they are really just a bunch of fans because it definitely is not up to the same standards as the professionally made Pachinko cut-scenes. But let's not trash them for trying right? At least they put in an effort. Yes, they are using the Robotech name, but they're just fans, they're not making any money from it. If Harmony Gold was responsible for this film (which it is not), I would NEVER watch it. But it's a fan-film, so I look past the "Robotech" thing. I still hate Robotech, but I don't expect the whole world to understand why I hate it, including these guys.
  3. Yes, but think about this. This film is made by fans, not Hollywood or any professional film comapny. Are Japanese fans doing anything like this?I saw some pretty good Pachinko cut-scenes in live-action that looked okay (which were professionally made), but that's about it.
  4. Haha, other than that little gripe, the rest looks pretty damn good. Nice rendition of a zentradi.
  5. Hmmm.....the disc on the left says the first half, and the second disc says the last half, there is no third. That makes no sense unless they've compressed the entire series onto two discs. Kensihin looks a bit more serious on the cover, almost pissed off. Might be a new OVA for the 15h anniversary. Edit: Just did a bit of searching, found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XEmhU81uCI
  6. Were they every going to complete the 1:1? I remember seeing some concept drawings of the exhibit and I thought it was supposed to be the complete Valk?
  7. Oh man, just watched a clip of that movie....old-school bullet train...talk about nostalgic. John Lone's Japanese makes me feel cold.
  8. Yeah, I heard the Kenshin character was developed based loosely on a historical figure, this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawakami_Gensai Shinsengumi Chronicles, another movie I've heard of for the first time today. I'll have to watch that as well.
  9. Well, there's once scene (there are probably more) that sort of bothers me and that's how Bilbo comes across the ring. In the book, he's sort of stumbling around in the dark and sort of just feels it in his hands as he's crawling around in the dark. In LOTR Fellowship, they sort of depict that. But then in The Hobbit film, it's different. Just a little lack of continuity that sort of irks me, but meh, nothing's ever perfect. Still loved the movie and I'm planning on seeing it again, this time minus the HFR.
  10. Ah, you're in Japan I see, that's why you're posting at 1 in the morning (for me), haha! I was there just a few weeks ago Anyway, it sort of makes sense now that you say it. I didn't find Yamato Hukkatsu-hen very entertaining. It had some moments, but there were some really, really moring moments for me. The current series Yamato 2199 is far better and I'm enjoying it very, much.
  11. They're not the same class of film. Kenshin is an anime adaptation to live-action. It's live action, but character designs and their abilities are from anime-world. For someone who studies Japanese culture, history and Japanese sword arts, one might appreciate Hidden Blade and Twilight Samurai more. For someone who prefers anime, cosplay, otaku-life, they may prefer Kenshin live action. Personally, I liked Hidden Blade and Twilight Samurai more (just watched Kenshin today), but that's not to say I didn't like Kenshin. It was a good adaptation from the anime (tv series), but I found that even the parts of the movie that were taken from the OVA were a bit chambara. I preferred the OVA over the TV series, but the series had it's moments. As for the sword fights in the live-action Kenshin....well, let's just say I've seen better. You want to see some good sword work, maybe watch Mibu Gishi Den (When The Last Sword is Drawn), Ame Agaru (After the Rain) or uggghhhh.....Gohatto (Taboo). Yes, even Gohatto had some memorable sword fights. Don't let it stop you from watching the movie though. Despite my personal opinion on the shortcomings of the sword work (one more gripe, there's metal on metal grinding noise when swords are re-sheathed.....%$@! this does not *ucking happen when you re-sheath a kanata into a wooden saya!!!), the movie was still entertaining and paid huge tribute to the TV show and some bits of the OVA. I guess you can look at it like the sword fights were a good adaptation of the TV series sword fights. I've never watched Sword of Desperation or Samurai Loved, never even heard of them until now so I'm going to see if I can get a copy and watch them. As for the Yamada films, the action sequences may not have been very intense (which is fine, because sword fights generally weren't long, drawn out affairs with a lot of sword-on-sword, metal bashing), but the movies as a whole seemed to be a more realistic depiction of life during that time.
  12. WTF???? Really? I guess I just looked at it as not particularly entertaining which a really crappy music score.
  13. Thanks for the review. Nice fig, looks like Kenshin from the OVA? I guess it's out of production and pretty pricey to aquire now.
  14. Haha, was just google imaging Club M 1/48 and spotted this dusty old thread. Does anyone happen to have all three 1/48s of our beloved VF-1? It would be nice to see some nice quality shots of the Club M, Yamato and the Hasegawa 1/48 side-by-side. I realise that Hasegawa never put out a Strike version (though they damn well should), but still, it'd be nice to compare the details.
  15. Is it still showing the 9 min preview? I'm thinking about going to watch it again, but this time in just regular 2d or imax 3d. Definitely not the HFR version.
  16. Haha, even his posture, the way he has his hands under his chin reminds me of Spock, I noticed that too. The rest of her looks fine, but when they did the first close-up pan, I didn't even clue it it was her until they got to the panties and bra,
  17. Yeah, it's not looking too good in Battroid, but hopefully, they'll iron out some of the problems before production.
  18. Back from the dead! Haven't seen any updates since 2010, hope all is well and it's still on his to-do list.
  19. Thanks for posting. I love the ship to ship battesl so far, but how come the baddies are so fragile? They seem to spontaenously combust with every hit.....is it because every shot seems to be a direct hit to the power unit or magazine, or is it because the ships are just armored with tin plate? The earth ships had a lot of trouble in the beginning of the series, but that's probably due to insufficient fire power, but I was kind of hoping for seeing battle damage, or crippled ships smoldering once in a while. Yamato seems to get the odd hit but no explosion, with visible battle damage which is cool, but why not some of the baddies? Yeah, yeah, I know, Yamato's the hero ship, but I don't think every ship should go down like the Hood, especially when there are scenes of fleet battles. Depsite my grumblings, Is still ove the show so far....gotta love the blue chick's choice of bra and panties when she comes out of the MRI/CT scanner.
  20. It's already been done by fans like these guys: It's just a matter of time before home-made shorts like this will rival the big screen, just have to wait for technology to catch up. 5-10 years or so and I'm willing to bet fans will come up with a decent flick.
  21. That's kewl.
  22. Gotta love Pachinko. A decent remake is definitely possible. I think thoughts of Yamato getting remade probably spawned from the awesome little animated clips in the Pachinko games. That lead to a live-action movie getting made now we have Yamto 2199 which is an effin' awesome remake. SDF Macross could see similar treatment, and I am certainly one for it. I think there's enough interest, just look at Macross the First. It wouldn't exist if there was no interest in the original designs.
  23. I beleive there is hope for a re-boot, but perhaps not in the near future, not as long as Hasbro is so firmly latched onto Bay. He makes money, there's no doubt about it. G1 fans want to see Prime his original form, not as a pile of metal shards. If Space Battleship Yamato can be made more or less faithfull to the original animation, it's possible for Transformers G1 to get the same treatment one day.
  24. YES! I saw the fat chick too! Haha, just at the moment I was thinking what would happen if there was a chick that didn't quite fit into those lovely form-fitting outfits, she popped out of no-where. I heard that Singapore Airlines has one size for their uniforms and if you don't fit in it, you won't get hired.
