  1. There are a few photos floating around online, but I don't have any decent shots.
  2. No, not really, the orirginal DVDs and BD discs from Japan end up in otaku shops here in Canada and the US, and people like me buy them. There are online versions with subtitles, but most fans will buy the originals. Crappy movies like Transformers, I will not buy, nor will I watch in theatre. If I watch those at all, they will be streamed or downloaded, haha! Anyway, I think Taksraven hit the mark 100% when he said: I think "Robocrap" Live-action will come out looking exactly the same as Bayformers. I say go ahead, make it, it's not Macross, so what do I care? It'll probably come out like an abomination of Dragonball Live-Action crossed with Transformers. It will suck (in my mind), but it will make a $hit-ton of money. And about Uchu Senkan Yamato live-action.......you're right, it could have been better, but it's a start. it was definitely better than anything I would have expected from Hollywood. Rumours were that they were planning on using a completely different battleship and name. But who knows, maybe in the future a better film could be made. If film history has shown us, remakes are always done. Films about IJN Yamato have been getting better and better, with the last one back in 2005. It was alright for it's time, but could have been a lot better. BUt that being said, it was light years ahead of any previous films about IJN Yamato. Akira, don't even get me started, might as well title it "Ted" if they still plan to use the cast and location of the story that they had planned a while ago. Anyway, I'm not really fussed about this Robotech movie being made one way or another. It would be nice to see photo-realistic live-action VF-1s in action, but I can wait for it to be properly done....haha, maybe by another Pachinko company in 5 years or so.
  3. Haha, I'm sure they will hate it or just won't care. Surprisingly though....... I was wondering when you were going to chime in, haha! Not all of us who gave support to the South American "fan" film will be disappointed though because some of us may not even watch it.....if it ever gets off the ground. The solution is simple to satisfy all: get Macross made into live-action in Japan, just like Yamato. We don't care if it's for Japanese distribution only, it will eventually end up here somehow anyways, and some fans out there will sub it.
  4. Nah, he just hates me and anything I post, haha! Probably still pissed at me from another thread. The pic's from some artist from Deviantart, just someone's imagination that deserves to be trampled on, that's all. It's not official or anything, but I kind of like the design. I would never want to see it replace Uchu Senkan Yamato that we all know and love in the Yamato universe, but I don't find it unpleasing to look at.
  5. Man, I hope you're right. Assuming that the X-wings will even be in the next film, I hope they don't get redesigned too much, if at all. I didn't mind the lens flare actually. In fact, I pretty much liked everything about JJ's Star Trek film except the positon of the hull.
  6. Yeah, you're right. I don't clearly recall, but is there that metal-on-metal sound when Wolverine's claws come out?
  7. Lucas already wrote out all 9 episodes back in the 70's right? Episode 7,8,9 is supposed to follow Han and Leia's kids, so it won't take place too long after ROTJ right? Man, if Abrams is doing it, I hope the X-wing and the Falcon don't get the same treatment the Enterprise did.
  8. Right?? How is this not the coolest aircraft the world has ever seen (that and the VF-1 of course):
  9. Oh man, another pet peeve of mine is the metal-on-metal grinding sound every time a sword is drawn. I'm not sure about real steel European swords, but a katana being drawn from a saya is metal on wood and there should be little or no sound. Our particular school of iai teaches absolute silence when the katana is drawn or replaced. Our school isn't paricularly flashy either so if it doesn't look boring, we're probably not doing it right, haha! When I studied wiushu, the practice swords were all metal sword on wood sheath as well, no metal on metal, so when we took our swords out, no grinding sound. I got one of those Paul Chen practical broad swords just for $hits and giggles and the same thing, steel sword, wood sheath and little or no sound when drawn or replaced. I have no idea why Hollywood always has to insert that grinding sound.....maybe they'll get it right one day.

  11. Try a little less weed in yours
  12. Hey, no one's stopping you! You of all people could probably pull that off too, so just make sure you post lots of pictures for us
  13. When I was in in Japan November, I saw him on a day-time variety show, talking about Wolverine and Les Miserables. If he's holding a sword, I just hope that he got a decent trainer. At least Tom Cruise looked like he got some sort of rudimentary training in Japanese style sword play. My pet peeve is seeing seeing a katana being used like a jian or dao (or vice-versa).
  14. Fan-wank, haha, that pretty much applies to the majority of thoughts of sci-fi/anime fans, no? "In this scene, wouldn't it have been cool if, or it should have happened this way, what if this happened instead of that?" The biggest apeal to the world of nerd/otaku/fandonm is imagination - which is limitless. You've got fans that are happy the way things are delivered to us, exactlly the way they are (even Robotech Fans), and you've got fans that wish they could have re-written an entire series. That's why we're all here right? I mean, if we were all content with our favourite anime/sci-fi series with exactly the way they were, there would be nothing to really left for us to discuss here except "I liked it, it was perfect". Wouldn't that be a bit boring if everyone came here and said the same thing? Saying that my statement, what I thought would be cool, was actually just "spewing ignorant BS" is merely name-calling, and a little childish. Just because I didn't say something you would have liked to hear, you call it ignorant B.S. You should have heard my "fan-wank" when I first saw M7 "What if Basara was killed right in the beginning, how great the series would have been". Just because my ideas differ from yours, doesn't mean it's ignorant BS, it's just a different perspective. I don't say that you're wrong for wishing that Vader be a peace-loving, pot smoking hippie that preferrs to sing his enemies to death, it's your perspective. I don't put a label on your opionion and say it's ignorant or it's B.S. Vader's supposed to be evil right and I didn't really get that from episode I-III, nor do I have hopes that I will with any new films out under the Disney banner. It would be nice to see Vader portrayed as truly evil, but I doubt it's going to happen. But if this is your cup of tea...... .....then great, power to you man.....flower power, like, groovy man.
  15. Woah, how long have we been waiting for a thread like this? 10 years or so? Mike, you scratch built the 1/24 scale VF-1 in fighter mode, any change to you can do a strike version, and also one in Battroid mode please? Not too much to ask, right, haha!
  16. Sweet custom, had to do a double-take there because I thought you posted pics of a Club M! Do you happen to have the Club-M as well? Is it possible to ask you to take some new pictures with it side-by-side with the Club-M? Also, haha, guess you don't happen to have the new Hasegawa 1/48 built and picture-ready do you? I'm not sure WM-Cheng does commission jobbies, but you might want to contact Kurt.
  17. Hey, thanks for posting! Some pretty cool images.
  18. I suppose they could have used the Musashi wreckage....but not sure if she's still intact or all seprated like Yamato. I always thought it would be cool if Musashi got rebuilt and they had a scene in the show of the two sister ships side-by-side. Maybe throw in a Shinano for good measure. There's a picture of Space Battleship Musashi floating around out there, but it looks kind of weird. Don't think it's official or anything either, might be fan-made. But just real quickly back to Musashi, does anyone here know what her current status is? Has she been found? Photographed? I heard a silly rumor that there were talks of raising her, but the Phillipine government was putting restrictions on that idea?
  19. Apologies for the late reply, I've been busy............had to see a man about a horse.....or was it a pony? Haha! Which part of my post was ignorant? The comment of Goofy being under the Vader helmet? Because that was a joke. Or was it that Vader should be portrayed in a violent, R-rated horror movie that displays his true evil? Up until the release of the un-holy prequel trilogy, all we've had to go on is our imagination on how or why Vader is evil. So now we know that he slaughtered a village of sand people and sliced up a couple of Younglings, but those scenes were way too brief. I dunno, maybe I'm just desensitized, but from the three films, all I got from them was that he came across as a whiny fop that couldn't stop moaning about Padamame, or Panda bear or whatever the hell her name was. I guess I just need to be shocked or horrified with his actions to believe he's evil. That being said, I don't think that will ever happen.
  20. Crap, if that's the case, I owe antibiotictab an apology for accusing him of being a dillusional right wing nut job.
  21. To the OP, can you clarify this? Are these fans being backed by the industry or is this as you say a wholly fan-made film? If HG has their dirty little fingers in this in any way, I'm done here.
  22. That is a sweet cover. Even though it's just a tiny bit of the ship, the details are giving me a nerdgasm.
  23. MOD EDIT WTF is this thread all about????? My Little Pony??? What are you, a bunch of flaming nancy-boys? This is a joke right, you guys don't seriously like My LIttle Pony do you? What am I missing? When I was a kid, the boys played with GI Joes, Transformers, MASK, GoBots, and Robocrap (there was no inkling that Macross existed back then). The girls played with Barbie, Cabage Patch Dolls and My Little Pony. Has My Little Pony changed to attract boys now? Are there war-horses or transforming mechs, massive battles in this cartoon or is it just some hentai tentacle-rape/anime beastiality thing going on? Yeah, Agent One is definitely right on the Rainbow thing MOD EDIT I never in my life thought I would see a thread like this pop up on this forum. First Macross 7, and now this........the Mayans were right, the world did end and I'm in hell.
  24. I wonder how they're going to tackle some of the characters in the next film. Beorn is suppsed to be some sort of man/bear and his servants are creatures of the woods....are they going to have horses, ponies and sheep waiting on them during dinner or will they skip over that part? I noticed that the Eagles, Wargs, and Shelob don't talk, but in the book they sort of do. Makes me wonder if the giant Spiders in Mirkwood will talk. Will Smaug talK? I think he's gotta be able to talk.
