  1. True, they didn't have the 20 years of friendship, but the way I looked at it was that Kirk went out of his way to save Spock, despite the fact that Spock sort of made Kirk's life hell in the first film. As this film developed, Spock's appreciation for this fact grew, as did his friendship with Kirk. Also, Spock's conversation with Spock Prime probably shed some more light on depth of their friendship. I would really have liked to know more about what they talked about, but my guess is Spock Prime spilled the beans and told him that he died to save the crew, and when Kirk selflessly took his place to make the ultimate sacrifice, it made him appreciate Kirk as a colleague and a friend.
  2. Are you talking about SDF Macross where he inherited Roy's plane? I don't recall which repaint you're talking about because he rolled with the same colors as Roy did (white, black and yellow), and there was no way he got Roy's plane in DYRL because that blew up along with Roy.
  3. The reason the characters are all very two dimensional is because they waste too much time with the human characters, of which most of them are useless and unecessary.
  4. Just saw it a few days ago, awesome. I'm a fan of everything Star Trek (except the animated series - never got around to watching that) and I think there were a lot of nice nods to everything that came before. They could have held off on re-launching the Enterprise and done a refit version for the next film, but I guess that will have to wait til after the 5 yr mission is done. Yeah, I agree with what someone else said earlier, they should try to figure out a way to prepare for V'Ger, breed a few humpbacks and prepare for the Borg.
  5. Don't be silly, i'd fly to Japan to see it, haha! When they finished filming Otoko tachi no Yamato, I flew to Japan just to stand on the deck of the 1/1 scale Yamato.
  6. I think he's talking about after Kakizaki died and Roy was long gone....Max and Millia were members of Skull Squadron under Hikaru....but then they both had 1Js, so doesn't that signify that they commanded a squad each?
  7. See, that's one thing that sort of baffled me about SDF Macross....why was there only one Skull, if it was Skull Squadron? At least in DYRL, everyone had a Skull, and the colors were really just personal choice. I liked Roy's color theme because it was the Jolly Rogers Colors, didn't know that it was supposed to have direct lineage to the Jolly Rogers Squadron. That's kind of cool. By the way, does anyone know if the VF-1 in Frontier is a 1A or a 1S?
  8. I voted for DYRL. The animation was better, like they took more care to make sure the movements were more fluid. I liked the fight scene in SDF a lot but the fact that Max had the 1S in DYRL really did it for me. My only gripe with it was the fight was too short and they sort of cheaped out in the Meltran ship.
  9. Not really sure...his -1A and his 1J had different paint schemes, and I think both would look good as -1S.
  10. I think the scenes from that Sega Saturn (or whatever console it was) game years ago were the best thing that came after DYRL itself.
  11. When pilots get promoted to squad leaders, do they just upgrade (complete overhaul, optional new paint) their VF-1A to -1S models or is it a complete new bird? It just had me thinking because I read in Wikipedia today: The Mihoshi Academy on board the Macross Frontier has a VF-1 Valkyrie fighter atop the roof. It is not just any VF-1, however - it is Ichijyo's first mount as leader of the Vermilion Squad of Skull Squadron. It looked like a VF-1A, but I can't be sure, so did they just take his original VF-1A (the one that was beaten to $hit during his Minmei rescue) and restore it? Because the VF-1S he had at the end of DYRL looked exactly the same except the head. not sure if it was a completely new plane, or just upgraded parts (other than the head, whatever else there is that comes with the S models). Same goes for Max, because his 1S looks pretty much the same as his 1A. In SDF Macross, I guess they all got new planes because Max's 1A was completely destroyed, Kakizaki died, and Hikaru's 1J was pretty beaten up when he took over Roy's 1S....curious, wonder why Max never got a 1S in SDF Macross....
  12. Well, I can accept alternate universes and mulltiple timelines, but my ponderings were really just why Spock choose to stay in this timeline when in previous movies and TV shows, they would always return to their own timeline or one where Earth wasn't blown up? They saved the Space Whales, why not figure out away to keep Vulcan from blowing up?
  13. Haha, ok, you asked for it. This movie is going to suck the sweat off a dead man's balls either way. Mecha Godzilla would be better than Dinobots they plan for this movie. Just another tornado of metal shards spat out of a blender, woopee-do.
  14. Terminator 2 could have done without a trailer. Can you imagine how mind blowing the film would have been if you didn't know Arnie was going to be a good guy until halfway through the film? Would have been *ucking epic, but the trailer totally spoiled it.
  15. Star Trek IV was once....could have sworn he (old Spock) did a bit of time travel in TOS, but I'm probably wrong. I just get the impression that time travel is pretty normal in the Star Trek Universe when it comes to going back in time to "fix" things, why not this time?
  16. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many times has Spock time travelled? Wonder why he didn't make efforts to "correct" the timeline this time where Vulcan doesn't explode. To complicated? I know, this is more of a question for the first film, but I sort of just thought of it.
  17. haha, what I meant was that they should have built the rest of Yamato in 1/72 scale. They started doing the aft part of the ship, they should finish the rest of the ship, in that detail!
  18. Macross Junkie, nice poses, and effin' nice photos. Thank you for not putting in stupid captions and using your cell phone to take these pictures. Some good quality stuff, please keep it up.
  19. I want to see some cooler poses, or at least know it's capable of some better ones, because so far from the ones they've shown, pretty ug
  20. That's the first time I'd seen that vid, pure awesome man, thanks for posting.
  21. Awesome 1/72....they should have just kept going and built the rest of it.
  22. I had a Bond marathon, watching all the films before watching Skyfall, and I have to say that I'm pretty happy with Craig's Bond. When I was a kid, I grew up on Moore, and as some else said, I snored when my dad watched the Connery films, but as an adult looking back, my views reversed and I now like Connery's Bond over Moore's. The Moore films started getting a bit outrageous and I started to realize I could only like them as a child. Brosnan's Bond was good, and it started out a bit darker and grittier, almost believable, but then stories themselves just got too over the top. I just hope that the Craig films don't start going the same way.
  23. Hey, so what were you saying about the RAM launchers fromt he klingon ship? I tried to google up some images, but didn't have much luck. Do you have one handy by any chance? I'm kind of curious how lazy the special effects guys were on this.
