  1. I've always thought casting a live action version would be tough to do right because the cast of characters. Their ethnic/national backgrounds is diverse and complex to a point where my head spins thinking about it. Was South Ataria Island internationally populated, where most people communicate in English, or was it a Japanese island and everyone had to learn Japanese?
  2. I dunno man, that's a pretty good looking turd. I wonder how much effort they put into making it look this good. Usually HJ shows the step-by-steps to any mods they might do to a kit....are there any pics up somewhere?
  3. I would like to envoke the name of my famous ancestor........Ho Lee Fuk!
  4. 6 months after the last post, and this is all we get? A poke about Atlantic Rim? Are there any updates to this thing? Did the Valk...sorry, Veritech finally get any body panels?
  5. Macross Vs Robotech. Ok, serious question here. Given the release of the latest anime to live action films released in Japan (Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Rurouni Kenshin, Gatchaman etc), which movie would be less $hitty, Macross (if they ever decide to make it) or Robotech? Special effets aside, I think it would be pretty hard to find actors in Japan that would capture the proper essence of the characters from SDF Macross and I'm really afraid that any attempt to make a live action Macross would end up looking like a studio version of Power Rangers. Live action Yamato was alright, but some of the acting was downright brutal and made me cringe at times. I'm not saying Robotech would be better, but it would be pretty damn hard to make Macross good.
  6. Honestly, I would have been happy if they didn't use that title. I'd go watch an action.scifi/fantasy popcorn flick anyday. Conan for instance (not the new one with the surfer dude), but calling this 47 ronin is just silly. You want to see 47 ronin? This is the 47 ronin: I dunno, I guess it's just a bit of a shocker for history nuts like me, but I guess it's not the first time something like this has been done. Abe Lincoln, Vampire hunter, or 300 are some examples of history being retold with a bit of fantasy thrown in, but this is probably one of the biggest deviations from actual events. Events I have not seen any evidence of so far in the trailer other than the number 47. I don't mean to trash a film I haven't seen yet, I guess it was just my initial reaction. But being a sword guy, I'll probably still go see it....God help me though if they make that metal-on-metal zinging sound when a forged-steel sword comes out of a wooden saya, haha! Interesting bit of irony, the actor playing Kira has the family name of Asano...
  7. What....the....phuck.....I fail to see the connect between this atrocity and 47 ronin other than the fact that they said the number 47 somwhere in the trailer. Why did they even give it that title? Would have been better if they called it 46 dudes plus Keannu The remake of Karate Kid should have been called Kung Fu Kid ffs.
  8. Welcome to Macrossworld. Nice bulld and glad to see someone finally pose the thing and make it look good!
  9. Large scale vessels are definitely possible....1/10 scale Yamato and other smaller variations of IJN Yamato and Uchuu Senkan Yamato. The problem is there's way more of a following for Yamato than there is for Macross and the SDF1 While I found it nice that someone put the effort into building a 1/1 scale cockpit of the VF-1, I found it sad that it was only the cockpit, when compared to the likes of the half body of the VF-25, and the complete replica of the Gundam in Odaiba. Here's to hoping that a complete Valk might be built someday
  10. They should have just built the rest of the Valk, strike packs and all.
  11. Wow, that's really cool. Thanks for sharing! Keep posting if you decide to detail up!
  12. + 1 on that thought. Bay pretty much names these things whatever he wants....probably just randomly grabs names from a hat. Wasn't Devastator a single entity tank in the first movie? So what was the thing in the second movie?
  13. Nice shots, thanks! As for the darker VF-1S, wasn't there an even darker version from Yammie? It looked really dark.
  14. There is no character development for Bayformers, with the exception of the mains like Prime, Megs, and BB. All the others are pretty much Red Shirts of Bayworld.I can't tell who is who, I see no resemblance of their characters to anything that came before Bay, and they're all expendable. My suggestion to Bay is he cut out some of the budget for the explosions, cut out 90% of the human cast, recast them as extras at the most, and find a real director to develope the story and characters of the Transformers (the whole point of the movie). But of course, why would that happen when people are shelling out tons of money to see his vision? It's been said 1 million times over, this mindless drivvle sells, and as long as people are buying it up, all we can do here is wait for a remake thats done right, which probably won't come for at least another decade or so.
  15. Maybe an idea for some fan to produce, say 10 or so years down the road when photorealistic CGI can be accomplished by your every day joe like you or me
  16. Actually, what you said pretty much applies to everything I said in my original post. The consensus seems to be that when a pilot goes from CF to squad/flight leader, it's not simply a head swap, it's probably a completely new plane, and sometimes, it happens to be painted exactly the same way as their original -1A. It'd be cool if they did some sort of BBC/Discover channel style fictional documentary on Valkyries, and life aboard the Macross as a pilot.
  17. movie=religion=science fiction Too bad it got 12% on Rotten Tomatoes, I was hoping this was going to be a good movie. Guess I'm one of the few who like to watch train wrecks because I'll probably still see this movie....but I'll way for it to come out on Netflicks.
  18. No effin' $hit, talk about confusing, haha! To answer Saruta's question, the VF-1 in Frontier is in the colors from DYRL, so it's either the original "movie" prop, or Hiarku's first VF-1A (the one he mucked up during his Minmei rescue that was presumeably repaired by the time he got back to the Macross) before he got his -1S for the final battle. ....the Frontier Valk is a 1A right? I haven't been able to get a look at the head unit.
  19. Oh yeah, Hikaru started with a 1J, then he got Max and Kakizaki assigned to him after.....did Max get his 1J right after the events of their capture or did he rock a 1A for a while longer? I don't remember, will have to go back and watch it. So, pretty much from what I'm getting here, there are tons of factors of why and when a pilot goes from a 1A to a 1J or 1S. And if they do, it will be a completely new plane (better specs for the 1S models?). In DYRL, it was just Hikaru's preference that his brand new 1S was painted in the scheme as his 1A. It'd be cool to see these 1S: SDFM Max colors SDFM Kakizaki colors CF in 1S SDFM Hikru's first 1J colors with a 1S head. Wish I had the time and money to build models of all of these "fantasy" variants.
  20. I agree. Giving him Robtech is cruel, unusual and undeserved punishment. Feel free to let him watch it if you want him to grow up as warped as I am.
