Haha, I must be losing my grip on reality because I was thinking about actually seeing this film. I actually tried to watch the new Conan movie, and got through about 25 minutes before I turned it off. I scrolled through the rest of the film to see if there was anything worth looking at and found none. Maybe I’ll save my money and wait to see this on Netflix.

Looks interesting. Just had a thought, the Rock would have made a better Conan than that fruitcake Malmoa.

Man, glad he pulled through, good news indeed. Hope he makes a full recovery. Found this little gem, not sure if it's ever been posted:

Despite his personal life weirdness, he's a good actor, no two ways about it. I liked Oblivion, I liked Jack Reacher, I liked Minority Report, the Mission Impossible films, War of the Worlds, and I really liked Collateral to name just a few. Haha, I'm ashamed to say I liked Last Samurai and Top Gun as well, haha!- 180 replies

I hear you man, especially since the original trilogy had all of our favourite characters frozen in time, ageless, alive and well. Ep 7, 8, and 9 will have them older, vulnerable and quite possibly dead or killed off. We see the Falcon, being rebuilt in all her glory, but we don't want to see her smashed into a million pieces. The prequel trilogy dealt with familiar names that we heard for the first time in the cannonical films of ep 4,5, and 6 (Anikin, Obi Wan, and Papaltine). Whatever happened after is up in the air and left to the ponderings of comic books, novels, and whatever was in George Lucas's screwed up mind. The prequel trilogy left a lot of us with a bad taste in our mouths, and it's hard to be optimistic about it. I'll still go see them in theatres, but I too am not all that hyped as I was when the teaser for Episode 1 first came out. Maybe it's because I was so let down with the prequel that I don't have high hopes for this lot, but who knows, maybe that will change when the first teaser comes out.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
peter replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, that's what I noticed, haha! So 80's. It's a nostaligia thing for the wife, she used to watch City Hunter and Ranma 1/2 when she was little. The content would never fly as a children's cartoon here in Canada, haha! -
What ever happened to the original Millenium Falcon set? Did they destroy it or was it kept in storage? What about all those fighters like the X-wings etc? It would have been a shame if they were just dismantled and destroyed.

Nice! Looking forward to your progress! Are you going to find an old tube screen or are you going to use an updated LCD monitor?

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

I'm watching City Hunter for the first time. Season 1, episode 7. Awesome show so far. -
Watched it on Friday, liked it. Nice nods to his predecessors, and when the film delivered those nods, it delivered them well. I went into it knowing that this is a brand new film, with new ideas, and possibly sucking like all the live action Transformer movies, but they kept enough of the original to keep me well and truly satisfied. When I saw his plates lighting up in the smoke and dust, I knew what was coming and I had a pang of nostalgia from my childhood. You ever find yourself saying “It wasn’t as good as I remember”? It’s because as a child, you watch something and it’s awesome because your imagination makes up for the rest. It’s sort of like Macross. Go back and watch SDFM and I’m thinking wtf, the animation is a lot worse than I remember. But then you have things like the Pachinko game, and all the wonderful Hasegawa box art, and for some reason, that’s how I remember Macross, even though that’s not the reality. Well, the same thing goes for this new Godzilla film. My wife grew up in Japan and was never really a big fan of kaiju films, but she commented that Gojira never looked so real. She couldn’t believe how realistic his appearance and movements were. I guess the only comparison she’s ever had was the guys in the suits. Anyway, I liked it. Did they have scenes in the trailers that were cut from the film? I remember seeing the remains of some sort of creature in the trailer that I don’t remember seeing in the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya38wwuoWxY At about 45 seconds.

Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Speculation Thread...
peter replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks like one of the trade federation Asian-turned-surfer-dudes, lol! ....or one of those lame Banking Clan guys....when I first heard of them, I shivered and thought George Lucas's imagination had reverted to that of a 5 year old.- 11 replies

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
peter replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I have to agree, that his fall was horribly written, and poorly acted out. I tried to find info on what happened to Rex as well, but all I got was he left the 501st.....read somewhere that Cody killed him, but there was nothing official on it. The Clones and Order 66 was explained, but what I was wondering was what happens to them after? When Fives lost his $hit and wanted to kill Jedi, he also lost his personality momentarily. If the chip in their head works properly, do they stay in that trance-like state for the rest of their lives, or do they revert and get their individual personalities back? If they stay automatons, then there's no worry, no questions, but if they revert, there's going to be a big WTF from the clones, just like Fives experienced after killing squid-head. Yeah, they're supposed to obey orders without question, but we've seen evidence of that not always being true. The series built up a huge fan base for the Clones themselves, the writers went to the trouble to build them up, give them individual characters, likeable ones too, so to have them all instantly turn into mindless zombies after Order 66 kind of blows. Watching the Jedi Order was like watching a victim in a horror movie going into a dark basement alone where Freddy Kruger is waiting to cut them up. You know it's going to happen, you scream at the television for them not to go there, but they do anyways and get *ucked, haha! I can't believe they wasted two whole episodes on Jar Jar in that last season.- 1217 replies

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
peter replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Digging up old threads....wonder if anyone else just finished putting in their time trying to catch up with what everyone else did months ago? I think they could have gone on longer. What I was asking myself throughout the entire series was if Episode III were animated, would it blend with the series? Where they left off, I would say not quite. Questions that left me hanging: What happened to Rex? What happened to Ashoka? What happened to Maul? Reasons I couldn't tie the series to the films: Could this Anikin slaughter younglings? No. Too much good in him to get deranged enough to flip sides and do that. Could these clones slaughter Jedi without remorse afterwards? Doubtful. Wish Anikin was more messed up before he turned to the dark side in Ep III. Would have been good to see him with more disfigurement, more machine, more psychological issues before he went ape-$hit in the Jedi temple. Would have been awesome if he was full-on black mask Vader by the end of Ep. II or at least middle of Ep III. Anyway, just gripes, and there's nothing that can be done about it now. The Anikin that is “redeemed” by the end of Ep VI looks like the same guy that slaughtered younglings, doesn’t have a face I could trust as redeemed. He should have been thoroughly messed up, both physically and mentally by the time he got to that point in his life. Then when he does get redeemed, his image is of the human we physically recognize as when he was still mostly good. Maybe Star Wars Rebels will fill in some of those gaps, hopefully address what happened to Rex, Ashoka and maybe explore some more stuff about the clone troopers. This series really got me attached to some of those characters, so it really sucks that they all ended up as faceless Stormtroopers/cannon fodder of Ep IV, V and VI.- 1217 replies
