Macross Frontier S.M.S - what does it stands for ?
dreamweaver13 replied to vanpang's topic in Movies and TV Series
haha, it actually makes sense. "that chick's an alien", so she would certainly have a super menstrual cycle. well, if it's that time of the month, instead of a gianty panty, count on sheryl writing lyrics on a gigantic tampon. -

exactly! i think perople with a strong objection to Speed! Miracle! Spacy! have to remember that this macross is, ultimately, still a japanese production. and while it may sound weird as "american" english, i think it sounds fine in "japanese" english. if you've been watching a lot of anime (and have heard a lot of anime theme songs), you know what i mean. -

ok. my take on the vf27: so yeah, it could be a NUNS valk. sure looks like the insignia. just found it funny though that NUNS is sure being mysterious about the whole thing, and then VF 27 finally appears, with their frickin logo (if it is) all over the valk. "ok, we still want to be mysterious about this one, it's classified..... but EAT THAT SMS!! we got better shiit than you!" also funny since the series has built up the NUNS as incompetent, and SMS as the ultimate in mecha tech and pilot efficiency, then all a sudden NUNS is back in the equation big time. i'm sure someone has already pointed out that leon was quite excited when the vajra baseship (ok, watching too much BSG here) appear -- as if that's what he was waiting for. finally the fracker appeared, and it's finally time to unlease our VF27. It would seem NUNS was merely using SMS as bait to lure an actual vajra mothership into battle, where the VF27 can finally infiltrate it for some important (and probably obsessive) reason. and the one piloting the VF27 just had to be someone who was somehow involved in the massacred research fleet (or at the very least, related to its sole survivor). Hmmm... leon is starting to look like the head scientist of sharon apple in mac+. why am i suddenly having images of a red target point on the head of President Glass, and Leon on the other end pulling the trigger? -

haha. quite vague, but a term that everyone here seems to understand. the whole series is pretty darn Macrossy. and this ep 7 is indeed Macrossy. but i think as far as being Macrossy goes, ep 4 takes the cake. yup, even more than this one, IMO. -

whoa, aren't you over-reacting a bit? i doubt anyone of us were serious when we posted transexuals, alien protrusions (although i gotta admit, those vajra sure look like they could be related to the aliens in Alien 1. haha), rick hunter and breetai. we were kidding, i thought it was obvious. but if you already saw them for the sarcasm or fun that was intended, and you call that stupid, well then there's nothing left to say, is there? -

OMFG THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! spoiler rule has expired, right? ok! mecha mayhem at its finest!! sugoi sugoi sugoi desu ne!!!!!! everything a mecha fan wants, everything a macross fan wants!! and it's settled. macross quarter is wicked! Quarter pounder indeed! i will no longer complain about the name. it moves like a frickin battroid. wow. bobby margot, you da MAN!! no kidding, he really became a MAN when the quarter pounder turned battroid. my god the anticipation for action was awesome. altough i knew it was coming, it still brought chills up my spine when the shield was prepping for transformation. and to finally hear the captain say: "Trans-for-ma-tion!". wow. here i am giddy just from remembering the episode. sheryl's sudden hesitation was really touching (never mind that it was like minmei refusing to sing in the final episodes of SDFM), ranka's realization that alto and ozma were off fighting was likewise touching. and what about that Konig Monster!! whoo. and ozma doing the eye-tracking. and the new fighter and pilot (is it really labeled as VF 27?). and as for richard bilra... no, he's not admiral rick hunter! hehe. he's vritai!! haha. i'm looking for a friend with the biggest tv screen. and i'm watching this episode on his TV!! never mind if i have to bring buckets of beer and pizza, this episode deserves a bitchin' tv screen!!! -

Are you guys BLIND? that's not Sheryl!! That's an inflatable Sheryl Nome edition sex doll! jeez. Eventually, alto was no longer satisfied with just a frickin earring in his cockpit. -

I resent that! Megan Fox has amazing character development!! From "'I'm a bad girl with a criminal dad who hasn't had the best of lives but is loyal to her friends and doesn't like being treated like a bimbo although if you really push me I am a Bimbo and would gladly sit on your laps for the sake of seat belt safety' kind of way." type of girl to a "I'm a sweet girl who is more than meets the eye with a criminal dad but whose juvi record has been wiped clean who hasn't had the best of lives but is loyal to her friends whether human or cyber-organism and doesn't like being treated like a bimbo although if you really push me I am a Bimbo and would gladly sit on your laps for the sake of seat belt safety' kind of way, and make out on the hood of your cyber-organism/car" type of girl. HEL-LO!! -
Wow. Luckiest.Bastard.Ever. haha. Likewise, I never got the impression of cockiness from Max. SFDMacross Max, mind you. he knows he's good, but he doesn't really step over anyone's toes with his superior skills. For lack of a better word, i'd call it being "giddy about his genius". Like Kronnang pointed out, he knows he's awful good, and he takes that as a fact that he doesn't really have to point out or remind others of. but every now and then, he'd slip up and blurt out something coz he's just innocently happy about how good he is. However, how much of that is an act, or if it's the real thing, we will never really know. on the other hand, who here feels that he is a bit cocky in DYRL? and on another note, even though he knows he's a freakin genius, he's still a bit insecure about other stuff, though. i remember when exedole referred to him as miriya's husband,as opposed to her being his wife, he was pretty miffed. "hey i beat this girl 3 times, and i'm just HER husband?" haha.

Holy crrap, this is fun! haha. frackin brilliant. ok, question 1: if alto's father is kaifun and minmei's lovechild, how did he get out of Megaroad1 before it went MIA? or did she give birth before leaving earth in 2012. that's a small window of opportunity there. i don't know the exact dates, but would that mean she was already pregnant when she was staying at hikaru's apartment? which brings me to question 2: so hikaru was having an extra-marital affair with minmei inside megaroad 1? (haha, why am i not surprised? hikaru, an indecisive fool to the very end!). and before megaroad disappeared, minmei was able to put her 2nd lovechild (minmei, you naughty mynx!) in an escape pod... with a toy guitar of course? Q3: you mean mao and shin's grandchild, right? otherwise, sheryl's pretty old. hehe. Q4: hikaru and misa had another daughter... and left her in a colony?? how harsh. haha. "dear, we'll just be going out for a short trip to the center of the galaxy. it's pretty close already. don't worry, we'll be back in a week or two. promise!" Q5 (well not actually a question): damn it dude, i had to draw myself a family tree diagram just for this! yeah, there's surely some blood there. Glass Jr. would be Misa Hayase's half-brother. which would make Glass Jr, Hayase Jr's half-uncle! thus, Glass Jr impregated his half-niece to give birth to president glass. haha. if ranka was born 2 years before basara any mylene met (the second time, but the only time they were actually sober enough to remember), then that would mean mylene already gave birth to ranka before that "second" meeting, but completely forgot that she had one! ("oh yeah... was that a baby? i thought i just had a nasty case of diarreah") In any case, that would justify basara calling her a HOOOOOOO. hehe. you know what would be even better? a jerry springer appearance by the incestuous uncle and niece. or hikaru, minmei and misa, the final showdown!! (Misa: you screwed my husband and you even screwed my Riber-substitute?? You skank!!!!! ) haha. all in all, so much fun!!

I'd have to agree with Junior on this one. (not necessarily that things will go the way he predicted, but with respect to the significance of Klanklan being with Alto and Sheryl that day). so let's say later on, if alto is suddenly MIA, sheryl would be seen in public crying and hugging a gigantic panty, to everyone's dumbfounded confusion, macronized klan klan would come in an say, "Ah. don't worry. she's remembering alto-kun." On the other hand, if it were micronized KlanKlan, she would just blurt out "Eeeeeecchi!!!!" But i agree with your second reason. just a split-second of staring at those breats, and Mikhail already had a sensory overload, hence turning away immediately. haha. -

haha. thanks for that Duke! that really sounds like something old-school military would use for a cadence song. (granted, SMS is not military, but given Ozma's training, i wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who came up with the song.) cool! so yup, looks like it's Speed! Miracle! Spacy! should have figured it would be something that sounds as crazy. problem solved. -

I remember that scene. yeah, that's a great easter egg alright. a very specific (yet subtle) homage within a general (and still very subtle) homage of having a date with a celebrity (including all that running away from fans). thanks. -

noooo!!! none of that! I have to see more of klan klan!! at least until she fights back-to-back with Mikhail's VF25, ala max and miriya. haha. just curious: where do you guys think klan ranks in terms of piloting skill among all the pilots in the macross F series? -
Animation Quality of Macross Frontier
dreamweaver13 replied to Zinjo's topic in Movies and TV Series
personally, i don't find fault in the animation. My test is that if on first viewing (meaning no screencaps first, ok?) i don't find anything wrong with the animation, then i enjoy it. and on first viewing, i am enjoing the quality of the series so far. but for those who have problems with the animation, so far have there been any complaints regarding the animation quality of mecha action? just wondering. since this is a TV show (and not an OAV) maybe the limited budget forced the producers to be consistent with mecha animation more than the rest of the show? Coz if you don't find anything wrong with the mecha, but find fault in character animation, then maybe that's just the reality of budget constraints. -
