  1. DX = DELUXE (common sub-descriptor for premium Japanese toy lines, especially in the "golden age" of the 70's/80's. BANDAI was hardly the only company to use the tag-line, BTW...)
  2. don't worry too much about it. if this new 19 is anything at all like the Yammie 19k/F/S/P series, then everything is all basically already taken care of, and we're all pretty much guaranteed the closest to overall perfection as any 19 series variable toy or model is likely to ever get. or, to put in simpler terms; Have Faith in Mr. K...
  3. say, anyone here have one of the sticker sheets from this kit that they haven't, nor plan on using? i could use one, as many of them (UN SPACY labels, RESCUE insignia, etc,) are actually just about perfect for the 1/100(ish) BANDAI HI-METAL VF-1...
  4. i used to myself, they folded like three-odd years back. they'd buy it from you? or you're being facetious?
  5. no matter how advanced the F-22 may be, it'll always look like ass, IMHO. AFAIAC, the damned thing was at least partly responsible for killing off the venerable ol' F-14, and that alone is enough to condemn it straight to hell. you kids today and your ugly-ass fancy bleeding-edge jet plane designs...

    never would sell...
  7. sorry, plain-jane transparent parts with this kit...
  8. $0.99 actually, now that i look at the price label on the box side again. my local VALUE VILLAGE, which can actually manage to live up to their name, on the odd occasion. definitely complete outside that missing manual. someone hit some minimal areas of it with a quick primer spray or something. like they gave a few of the frames a real quick and spotty hit, threw it all right back in the box, and proceeded to get distracted elsewhere, never to return to it...
  9. so, in sum, i've personally theorized this model to be the ultimate product of least one of two possible thought processes; 1. BANDAI's very expensive (for them) thumbing of their collective GUNDAM-addled nose at both YAMATO/ARCADIA and stalwart MACROSS fans in general, 2. a product designed by clueless committee, so flawed that they themselves could clearly see it, but brass decided to kick it on out the door anyhow, as they'd at least break even on sales to the gullible/naive/devoted/desperate out there the world over...
  10. a Plastic Model-building Wife?!? WOW!!!!

    - Nippon-Yasan says she should be shipping out by the 31st... can't wait!!
  12. see why i bit for two (2) of the Yammie VF-19S at clearance now? i have a primary and a spare of that masterpiece for what just one (1) of these new YF-19s will most likely MSRP for, shipping factored in. and since MAC+ is vastly more popular than MAC7 is in the world MACROSS/ROBOTECH market outside Japan, this new 19 will likely sell hotcakes and never see an opportunity to be clearanced down to a far more reasonable (but still expensive-ass) price, shipping included... trust me Dave... get yourself a 19S; it's worth every penny, and it's the cheapest 1/60 VF-19 variant around to boot. there's just no way to lose...
  13. where does one get an older 70's/80's era USN/USAF flight helmet/o2 mask like that? how much they generally run?
  14. oh hell, i finally just pitched mine straight into the trash. i paid $60shipped from HLJ for a very pretty, very expensive model box. i gave the model the best skills i know. i even fully dismantled then re-assembled the whole works, gluing assemblies all the way through this time. you know what? the thing was STILL a floppy mess, and the backpack hinge up and broke on me, to add tasteful insult. HONESTLY, BANDAI; what good do all those metal pins do when the model's still full of absurdly loose and fragile vital jointwork?!?!
  15. when finished and photographed like that, the model looks a solid WINNER without doubt. it isn't until one gets hands-on experience with an example that the reality truly comes slamming down...
  16. IT'S AGGRAVATING. this turd should've been a QUANTUM LEAP beyond it's early-1980's predecessor. indeed, while it conveys the vague initial impression of being just that, the obtusely Beta nature of the product sets right in first thing after assembly is complete. truly, this is the most crassly Beta Beta-product i've ever had the personal misfortune of getting to know, and a roundly thorough tragedy. really, Duymon, i myself would honestly like to give my copy a good solid finishing job at least, but last time i looked at the gangly mess to do so, the first thought immediately to mind was "WHAT. THE HELL. IS THE POINT..."
  17. thanks, i'll have those pilots out to you today (7-13-13)
  18. that's really far more work than this kit deserves. honestly, i really wanted to love this kit, but it was SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. like a very promising close girlfriend that up and dumps you after telling you she's been lying to you all the while. F@$k you, BANDAI, F@$k you very much indeed...
  19. see, those ankle panels would not have even been necessary had the entire leg nacelle been properly engineered to begin with. YAMATO managed virtual perfection with a far simpler design...
  20. they can, but that isn't the issue. it seems the hips can telescope, so the entire leg nacelle can pivot outwards just enough so the arms can deploy out without fully disengaging the legs' intake section from the main fuselage. also, that issue with the head/neck, i've found you can tilt the entire head panel plate at an up-angle when in BATTROID position, that facilitates rotating the head/neck while allowing the neck-base to clear any obstructions. this thing is quite thoroughly engineered for it's diminutive size, though still far outclassed by the far larger (and originally somewhat higher priced) Yammie 1/60v.II IMHO...
  21. AFAIK, he would be sending me his original copy. i keep all instructions/paperwork for every model i build, along with all the paperwork for my Valks and other mecha toys... yeah, one of these days soon. i'm close to finishing the REVELL 1/48 AH-64 which i've most recently been working at, and now that i've shitcanned the BANDAI 1/72 VF-1 (after desiring to give it a half-honest detailing effort, it just ain't worth the hassle. IMO) i can finish up that APACHE (very nice kit) and start with this HASE...
