Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread
Shaorin replied to JCSaves's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
i'll go ahead and chip this in for fun... -
here we are, i think... my personal impressions? the BanHiMet comes off as an engineering throwback. it's too blocky and too chunky. it's overall lines much too inelegant. and what is worse, is that it is NOT-repeat-NOT a "Perfect Transformation" not even close. for me, all the "HI-METAL" in the world couldn't possibly make up for this shortcoming. still, different strokes for different folks... nonetheless, i strongly reiterate that this is a variable form fighter aircraft we're talking about here, not A robotic "Ryu the STREET FIGHTER"
-
it's no longer a "Floating Head" if you press it down into the cavity properly; to me, the 1/60 v.2 is the most perfect rendition of the VF-1 ever cast into three dimensions. it is elegantly balanced and designed, and EXACTLY what i had envisioned and dreamed of in a VF-1 replica in my mind's eye fifteen years ago, when all you had were the crummy TAKA/BANDAI 1/55 and HCMs... let's be appreciative and give YAMATO a fair shake, eh? they've taken our fabled VF-1 to places one could only dream of once upon a time...
-
actually, it isn't the same at all. too chunky and unrealistic. much too "Toyish"
-
it sure is hell ain't no Yammie 1/60. doesn't even compare... what can i say? i'm a Spoiled Bwat. still, it IS a nice, pocketable scale and all. a good "PortaValkyrie"

1/48+fp's, 1/60, And 1/72 Picture Gallery Pt 4

I HAVE GOT TO GET ME ONE OF THOSE!!!! anyway, tongue back into mouth, here's my contribution... -
GREAT price, and they'd be a blast to build, to boot! i think i'll pull the trigger on one as soon as i can...

well, i wouldn't exactly call this professional, but i like it... (taken with a NIKON D5000 DSLR) oh, and MAJOR FOCKER; that drop ship and APC set is AWESOME...

i don't get it. what's the deal? i've had my 1/60 1J Hikaru for well over a year now, with countless transformations and absolutely ZERO signs of damage in the shoulders... in fact, this model has long since proven itself to be head and shoulders above any other VF-1 scale replica i've ever had, and i've had them all, save for the 1/72 HCM. despite their repeated engineering gaffes in the past, YAMATO has been nothing short a total divine blessing for MACROSS fans. i fully intend to be adding the 1S Fokker to my collection, with the VF-11B, YF-19 and YF-21 thereafter...

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.

funny, i've had my VF-1J Hikaru T.V. for over a year now, with MANY transformations, and i have encountered no shoulder-joint problems. in fact, IMO, the VF-1 1/60 v.2 is the very best looking and most durable rendition of the VF-1 to date. have i just been lucky, or did YAMATO just get it all right with this variant?

and here she is!! plus, as you can see here, i added padded feet from an old AKAI integrated amp that was part of a rack system;

huh. all this time, and i've had no "back-heavy" issues with my ZETA. perhaps if i tried to display it in some wild-ass poses, but, perhaps barring that, the PG ZETA has so far proven itself to me in earnest that i did not waste the $200 that it cost me... oh, and NU GUNDAM II; is that UNICORN GUNDAM that you do not want complete? how much for the shipping?
-
hey all!! just thought i'd mention that i've had that PG ZETA for over a month now, with over a dozen transformations put into it, with exactly ZERO leg-stability issues whatsoever, and all joints are still as tight as new. so, what's the problem? how come so many GUNPLA enthusiasts seem to despise this awesome model? i mean, this is easily the best GUNPLA i've ever built by far... BTW; i've seen the MG ZETA Ver. II, and to my eye, it's NO WHERE NEAR as nice as this PG. the PG looks FAR more realistic to me in it's overall design, for instance. this PG is built like a total tank, with perfect, locking supports for everything in both modes. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but i'd be willing to bet that the MG v.2 is no where as solid and stable as this MACK truck of a model kit is. (the MG v.1 ZETA i built ten years ago most certainly wasn't, that's for sure. Ugh...) all this, and yet nearly everyone i've discussed this with has repeatedly recommended the MG V.2 ZETA to me over this PG. why, exactly? so far, this PG has done nothing but satisfy me, to be perfectly honest... different strokes for different folks, i guess. anyway, Peace...

nah, more like a NEWTYPE...

it was MANGA VIDEO...

MACROSS II was the very first of the MACROSS series i had ever seen, outside of ROBOTECH. it was back around christmas of 1995/96, and it left a powerful impression upon me. anyway, i know that i'm likely to be stoned to death, but i've always thought MACROSS II to be quite good, actually. indeed, i have always liked everything about it, save for the "METAL SIREN" Valkyrie, that is. Ugh... like DYRL, it possesses an overriding message that Love is what binds the universe together. it may sound corny to many, but it really is absolutely true. No matter how amazing our technological prowess, the human race is nothing without LOVE...

i don't know. i've seen the GOLDs on EBAY, where i got this console, and they seem identical, at least outwardly. perhaps this Japanese-Market edition of mine is the same thing as the U.S. "GOLD SYSTEM" ? i know i've also heard of a SILVER version, but i know nothing about it... oh, and perhaps you and my sweet-sixteen year old little sister should go out together. she LOVES MAGICIAN LORD every bit as much as you seem to, NO JOKE...

while i will always be, first and foremost, a SEGA GENESIS fan, i have also wanted to own a NEO GEO for sometime now. when vintage electronics collecting bit me, i started wanting a NEO even more... i mean, after all, what other vintage video game system has a media cartridge THAT BIG?!?! then, there is also the fact that, as it just so happened, the place where i had seen the SNK NEO GEO the first time, was also the place where i had seen what eventually became my favorite stereo receiver, the one that those carts above are placed on, the 1990 PIONEER VSX-D1S. anyway, it all started with this contest ad here;

this is a classic video game system, SNK's very first, directly based off of SNK's wildly successful MVS cartridge-based arcade system. it was first released back in 1990, with a street price of around $600.00. games were running around $150/200 and up. naturally, with prices like that, the system did not gain much mainstream acceptance. as such, while just about everyone has seen or played SNK games on an MVS cabinet at one point or another, relatively few have seen or played them on an AES home system. me and my little sixteen year old sister have become SNK fans overnight on account of the SNK ARCADE CLASSICS collection for the PS2. she likes the 1990 launch title "MAGICIAN LORD" while i like the 1993 title "SAMURAI SPIRITS/SHODOWN" (but only because of my little Nakoruru-Chan's♥ presence there. aside from that, i'm not really much of a fighting game fan) so, as such, those are our first two AES titles, and the only ones we possess at present: (YES, SAMURAI SPIRITS' cartridge case is ever so slightly shorter in height than MAGICIAN LORD's. don't ask me why...) even today, the system and it's games aren't exactly cheap, though an excellent bargain compared to their original prices; i got my AES (the exact one in that pic up top) for $300 total, shipped from japan. those two games were about $30 each. one was domestic (MAGICIAN LORD, brand-new, unsold old stock) and the other, used, is the JAPANESE-MARKET version of "SAMURAI SHODOWN" and, of course, came from japan. a plus about the NEO-GEO AES is that there are NO REGIONAL LOCKOUTS. any NTSC game, U.S. or japanese, will work on any NTSC AES, U.S. or japanese. i also happen to have GATCHAPON of my two favorite SNK Girls; Miss Nakoruru♥ and Miss Akari Ichijou from "THE LAST BLADE"

funny, this "UNICORN GUNDAM" is the first non-ZETA GUNDAM GUNPLA in a LONG TIME, to have actually impressed itself upon me. i think i just might bite on the 1/100 MG one of these crazy days... surprising, since when it comes to MECHA, especially GUNDAM, if it doesn't have a complex, 1980's transformation system (like the Z-GUNDAM) then i'm usually NOT interested. and yet, i seem to find something inexplicably attractive in this particular MS...
