indeed, great collection! i can't even come close...

within the next few months, i hope to have the opportunity to purchase on of those YAMATO 1/60 v.2 VF-1S kits to custom up as the ROBOTECH DEFENDERS/CHANGERS "VEXAR"
-
heh, yeah, indeed. while the 1/72 VF-1 variables were somewhat complex kits for their day, the 1/60 PG MSZ-006 is in entirely different dimension of complexity altogether. it almost takes an engineering degree to assemble it properly...

my Yammie 1/60v.2 Hikaru T.V. and Ai Oboete Imasu Ka? from SDF MACROSS; DYRL? covered by my goddess, miss Shaorin... inappropriate, inaccurate combination, i know, but that's just me... oh, and that CD player is nearly as old as MACROSS itself. don't laugh though; it is a diehard workhorse that sounds good. REAL good...

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.

i have a 1/60v.2 VF-1J Hikaru T.V. with the crotch area problem. is here any way that i may obtain a replacement 1J Hik T.V. cockpit module so that i could retrofit my existing 1J? if not, can someone tell me if the 1/60v.2 VF-1J Hikaru T.V. with super/strike parts has the new crotch mechanism? -
sure enough, it showed up yesterday! i noticed that the kit was molded in 1984 by IMAI, evidently right before the company went under and was consumed by BANDAI in 1985. IMAI molded the parts in a crisp white, whereas BANDAI had molded their first VF-1S release (which, as you can see, i have) in a light gray, despite the model being depicted quite white in BANDAI's instruction sheet. also take note that for some inexplicable reason, it took CEJI/REVELL a 20 page black and white booklet to explain what IMAI and BANDAI managed to in a four page color sheet...

i should be receiving the VEXAR today. (thanks again, TYPE-R!!) it will be one half of my project to recapture the object of my childhood memories. the other half will be a copy of that YAMATO 1/60v.2 VF-1S unassembled kit. i intend to purchase one, and paint it up in the VEXAR color scheme, using all gloss tones like i remember that VEXAR of my childhood being painted in (albeit very sloppily) it'll be a few months off, as i need to get over to my local HOBBYTOWN USA to pick up the proper colors in TAMIYA COLOUR, and i never get up to our local big city but once a month at best... when finished, the model should nest quite comfortably in the ROBOTECH DEFENDERS box alongside the original unbuilt kit...

funny; i've had my 1/60v.2 for over a year now, and haven't seen even a trace of this "cracking" issue. perhaps it's just a bad run of canopies?
-
i grew up in the glue and paint era, so i'm no stranger to difficult kits. i think i should be able to handle any eventuality...
-
one of these, as soon as i get around to buying it...
-
thank you! that's definitely a far better design. any way that i might be able to get my 1J retrofitted?

just introducing my pet guinea pig to MACROSS in the usual manner... notice the contentment in her eyes. yep, instant rodent valkaholic...

actually, i DO NOT own any multi-system gear, i've just done my homework on it, is all... one thing i need to do, however, is see if i can get my PIONEER DV-09's ROM reprogrammed for all-region DVD playback...

VF-1 Valkyrie (Egg Plane) (HOBBY SHOW Pre-order)
Shaorin replied to eyesonme78's topic in Model kits
very, very nice. still, it's too bad they couldn't have added a cute Minmay to the box art in the style of the girls on the covers of the current real fighter jet eggplane series... ♥My Favorite♥ and the best, in relation to the subject... -
i've got both the 1985 BANDAI reissue of the FOKKER -1S, and the original 1983 IMAI edition of the fodder VF-1A, and now, thanks to "Type R #126" the VEXAR as well!! i traded a collection of lesser TRANS FORMERS for several items, including both of these kits, at a long gone toy collector's shop in PORTLAND,OREGON called "BILLY GALAXY" back around 2001/2002ish. the 1S was completely assembled but unpainted, and the 1A was an unstarted kit. i had to disassemble the 1S' engine/leg units, as the previous owner had the landing gear backwards. i was bored one day, and started and mostly finished the 1A. never got around to placing the decals, though. kind of lost interest after buying a YAMATO 1/60 v.2. the YAMATO 1/60 II will always be king in my book, i despise "PARTS-FORMERS" especially parts-forming Valkyries. but this thread has really got me looking back at these old kits now with wistful nostalgia...

yep, industrial VCRs were usually around $2000/$3000 at the time. don't get me even started on the multi-standard VCRs. $1500/$2000 list for what basically amounted to a $500.00 level VCR that happened to be able to convert PAL,SECAM and MESECAM to NTSC and vice-versa, usually with MONO sound, and occasionally black and white conversion video playback, at that!!!!

hi guys. i decided to do my own personal commemoration of MACROSS and the year 2010 by making an S-VHS recording using my 1988 JVC HR-S8000U S-VHS VCR and a broadcast studio quality S-VHS cassette... ...and using a HK bootleg DVD with english subtitles, played back on a 1998 PIONEER DV-09 DVD player... ...and the resultant recording... ...don't laugh; this is 1987 tech we're talking about here. being a child of the video revolution, i remember full well what joe-everyman video resolution was like, and this, my friends, was VERY GOOD. indeed, IMHO, it even holds up very well to the DVD. still, i shudder when recalling the sums one had to pay to enjoy video resolution of this caliber back in the late eighties...

i just recently happened across that, and it really got the sentimental waterworks flowing!! it was my very first experience with a VF- Valkyrie of any kind! back around 1988/1990, me and my mother used to visit my grandma often, usually for hours at a time. while my mother visited my grandma, i would be down in the finished basement visiting my grandma's husband's teenage son from a previous marriage. he had a number of models that he did an absolutely horrendous job on, among them the "ROBOTECH DEFENDERS VEXAR" seen up above. one day he gave it to me. it did not last me long, as i was a destructive child, and further, since he was such a poor modeler, it was most likely glued in the wrong places and no longer transformable to GERWALK and BATTROID modes. nevertheless, that model left one hell of an impression on me, and definitely ignited the spark of MACROSS fandom in me. if anyone here has an unbuilt copy of this kit that they can sell, i think i'd be interested...

can anyone explain to me what the difference is with the new redesigned 1/60 V.2 crotch area? can someone provide pics of both versions? this is my version;

no remorse here, more like a personal dream of mine coming true. i've had both the 1/60 v.1 and the 1/48 of the VF-1. i've retired them both after getting a 1/60 v.2 VF-1J Hikaru T.V. it is EXACTLY what i have been dreaming of in a Valk replica since i first got onto MACROSS fifteen years ago. it all started for me with the 1/100 ARII GERWALK mode VF-1J Hikaru T.V. my very first Valk. i'd like to say that this 1/60 v.2 will be my last, but i just can't seem to be satisfied without a Fokker VF-1S. and then there are the MACROSS PLUS Valks, as well. always wanted a perfect transformation YF-19... damn. got a LOT of catching up to do...

Strike A Pose! V.4 - The Macross Mech Pose Thread

AMEN to that!! BOY can i ever remember how difficult it was to be a Valkaholic 10/15 years ago... -
i had wanted the 1/60 PG ZETA for what must have been ten years now, and i finally got the chance to get one about six months back; the most incredible model building experience of my life! galaxies above the older variable rectifications of this design. i've built both the 1/144 HG and the 1/100 MG, and this PG solves all their problems and then some! everything locks together into perfect alignment, with absolutely zero floppiness!! jeez, i could NEVER go back to non PG GUNPLA after this one...
