  1. WOW... just, WOW... http://news.3yen.com/2009-10-06/robo-babe-singing-j-pop/ to paraphrase "Kyle Reese" from the 1984 movie "THE TERMINATOR"; "The Miku Hatsunes, THEY'RE COMING!! they can't be bargained with, they can't be reasoned with... they don't eat, they don't sleep, and they WILL NOT STOP!!"
  2. well, oxy-free copper is the best on earth. being oxy-free means, zero possibility of oxidization of the copper, which can effect ultimate sound quality. PC-OCC copper made by the japanese company "OHNO CONTINUOUS CASTING" is a continuously-casted, single-crystal copper of the highest purity available. many companies throughout the years have used PC-OCC in tight tolerance electrical connections in various Hi-Fi products. for instance, PIONEER once used PC-OCC wiring for connection of the REC/PLAYBACK heads on their best cassette decks of the late 1980's, and SIGNET corporation once produced stereo RCA interconnects of total PC-OCC wire. for my case, i use MONSTER CABLE throughout my system, with critical connections, such as my two CD players, handled by MONSTER's TOTL "THX REFERENCE" series stereo RCAs, which ran around $60.00+ (depending on length) at WORST BUY and CIRCUIT CITY (R.I.P.) about five+ years back...
  3. SHITTY CABLES: NOT SO SHITTY CABLES: quality Audio/A/V cables generally have exotic, multi strand, specially braided oxygen-free copper wire throughout, surrounded by layers of electrical shielding to resist RF and EM airwave interference. terminated with high-quality gold-plated connectors and a metal/aluminum/brass/etc. barrel. average low-grade patch cords, however, are just multi-strand copper or metal wire coated with plastic insulation and the lowest possible grade terminations...
  4. because i prefer to. this is the era of Audio/A/V gear i grew up with, and it is also some of the last (and IMO, greatest)products of the legendary Japanese bubble economy of the 1970's/1980's. further, they are all SUPERB two-channel stereo components. while i feel i am doing quite fine without it at present, there is nothing stopping me from eventually getting a good BD player (PIONEER brand of course, BDP-05FD or the TOTL 09FD, whichever i can afford by the time i'm ready for one) and running the HDMI to a good HDTV monitor (TOSHIBA brand if i can help it, PIONEER is no longer in the video monitor market) and the BDP's analog stereo RCA outpus to my Hi-Fi system. i've had surround sound before, and found that i prefer full-range stereo for video programmes as well as music...
  5. me, i just need to get around to picking up one of these beauties, the LEY version, to be precise. the STICK version of the IMAI 1/15 fixed mode RIDE ARMOR was one of my very first mecha models, predating even my ARII 1/100 VF-1J GERWALK Hikaru T.V. if i recall correctly...
  6. haven't you heard? Miku-chan♥ is the foundation program that eventually evolves through thorough reprogramming and revision (geekspeak for growing up) into the "EVE" synthetic super pop songstress custom-engineered to effectively pacify the masses of the world as the U.N. government hurriedly develops variable-form aircraft weapons platforms in total secrecy to combat the forthcoming alien "Dezalg" invaders, due to show up in the SOL system sometime in 2011... (See? if Macek could do it, so could I!!!! )
  7. that's cute♥ for my part, i'm planning to purchase this off a fellow MW member as early in 2011 as i possibly can as a late christmas/early/late birthday present for myself; (my birthday is the 23rd of JAN.) this and my YAMATO 1/60v.II version of the same will be the foundation "bookends" of my small MACROSS collection. i'll be shooting to flesh it out with the YAMATO YF-19 "Double Nuts" VF-11C, and possibly the YF-21 as well, sometime in 2011 if all goes well for me. from there, i'll likely be concentrating on items such as books and posters/calendars,etc. i know i'd love to have a copy of the 1984 SDF MACROSS calendar for it's lovely art. before anything else, howeveer, i feel i must have my "best of the 1980's and best of the 21st century" (to date) iterations of my bar none A-1 favorite VF Valk. it all starts there for me...
  8. is there anyone else here on MW that likes to listen to music/play VGs/watch Video programmes the old fashioned way, through a component Hi-Fi/A/V system? that's the way i like to do things, PC-based entertainment media system be damned... 9. she was part of the TOS "One Coin" figure series. they had series for TOTA (the Abyss) as well. you can probably find them still on EBAY...
  10. VF-1, although the YF-19's is good looking...
  11. as a long time TRON fan, i'm excited about this, yet fully prepared for possible (Probable) disappointment...
  12. got issue#2. very cool. i can see that i'm going to need to get issue#1 though; as this is just too Adorable♥
  13. i think it'd be a terrific starting point for an SDF MACROSS Anime series remake...
  14. just recently got the 2006 MegaHouse doll of Hazuki from the "Tsukuyomi MOON PHASE" Anime T.V. series, and decided that her dress might look cute on Lady Mikuru♥ and the Victorian-era undergarments (Chemise/Camisole and Bloomers) that she wears underneath; and here's Miss Hazuki. i replaced the silly vinyl "boots" MegaHouse provided that are supposed to approximate the ballet style ankle-ribbon slippers that Hazuki wears, with actual slippers;

  17. VF-1 series here. it's design is classic and elegant in the extreme. no other transforming fighter aircraft to date has ever felt more "Realistic" to me then the venerable VF-1. a completely unsurpassed design, IMHO...
  18. been reading through this thread in my spare time, and i'm nearly finished. all i can say is WOW. it does indeed seem like HG and ROBOTECH are holding things back for the MACROSS franchise outside japan. i mean, DYRL is one of the greatest Anime motion pictures ever made, and the first and only opportunity i've ever had to see a proper subbed copy of it is by buying a bootleg DVD-R. thank god it played back great on my 1998 PIONEER DV-09 DVD player. heaven knows, CD-R and DVD-R playback can be rather hit-and-miss on older DVDPs such as my DV-09. anyway, it was a revelation indeed to experience MACROSS; DYRL as it was meant to be seen, especially since the first time i had ever seen the movie was on the godawful BEST Video VHS of the butchered TOHO english dub; (( FOCKER: Hey, Hikaruuu!! HIKARU: A MAN!!!! ME: *Facepalm* )) anyhow, my first exposure to MACROSS/ROBOTECH was in the late 80's, when a nephew of mine, gave me his (POORLY) finished copy of the old 1/72 REVELL/CEJI ROBOTECH DEFENDERS "VEXAR" (1/72 IMAI variable VF-1S Focker Special) i had little clue of what it was, other than a "transformer model" and, being the destructive, immature little brat that i was at the time, i had it quite broken by the time i got it back home. while that model did not last me long, it DID, however make a mark on my brain. i had always remembered it in the back of my head, until sometime around 1993/1994ish, when me and my father stopped at a hobby shop, and i happened across this; the moment i saw that, serious alarm bells went off in my head!! i KNEW i had seen it before! my father bought it for me, and not long after, it dawned on me that it was the very same aircraft that i been given five or so years before!! that single model kit started me down the path towards seeking out the PALLADIUM ROBOTECH RPG book one, and thence to the double-episode FHE ROBOTECH VHS volumes that were available at my local SUNCOAST video for about $15.00 each. i was never able to afford many volumes. neither me nor my parents had much money at the time. the 1990's was something of a financial dark age for us, in fact. as such being a MACROSS/ROBOTECH as well as Anime fan was a long, TOUGH haul for me indeed. still, my parents were fairly poor, yet very generous with me, so while my fandom was forced to expand at a veritable snail's pace, at least it didn't have to stagnate. my very first variable valkyrie toy was the BANDAI 1/65 Basara VF-19 FIRE VALKYRIE KAI. i got it for $49.95 at a comic shop, and yes, it was a BANDAI ORIGINAL. i put that hideous thing, the "CHRISTMAS VALKYRIE" as i like to call it, through so many transformations that i pretty much wore it completely out. a year or so later, i returned to that shop for the VF-17 STEALTH VALKYRIE. it too was $49.95, and a BANDAI ORIGINAL as well. all throughout that time, however, i never forgot the venerable VF-1, and i continuously yearned for the 1/55 "chunky monkey" toy. any variant would have done for me at the time, so long as it was a transformable VF-1. i got my chance finally around 1999/2000, when i took my old collection of GI-JOEs into a collectible toy shop, and made a deal on a trade for a TRANS FORMERS JETFIRE. my first variable VF-1!! even if it wasn't technically a VF-1 at all!!!! i was satisfied, until i was turned on to the YAMATOs... my parents were making a good deal more money by then, so i was able to (foolishly) take part in the infamous 1/60 ver.1 VF-1. fortunately, i only ever had the opportunity to waste money on the first in the series, the DYRL VF-1A Hikaru. a couple years later, i was blessed with the 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru DYRL, and, even better still, the VF-1S Focker. i figured that this was as good as a variable VF-1 replica would ever get, and my trusty VF-1S Focker was my faithful standby throughout the remainder of the first decade of the 21st century... THEN, the impossible happened. i learned of the 1/60 ver.II series. furthermore, i learned of them via finding out about the 1/60 ver.II version of, -you guessed it- the VF-1J HIKARU T.V. OH. MY. GOD. is this FULL CIRCLE or what?!?! the VF-1 that started me down this path in the first place came AFTERBURNing back into my life in a shiny new coat of paint that not only put every prior version of the VF-1 to total shame, IMO, but was also as close to the perfect VF-1 envisioned in my mind's eye as can possibly be rendered in three dimensions. there is now but one task left for me to complete my journey full circle; TO OBTAIN AN 1/72 HCM VF-1J HIKARU T.V. it, and the YAMATO 1/60ver.II will be the beautiful bookends of my twenty year long infatuation with the VF-1 Valkyrie, and i have a fellow MACROSS WORLDer to thank for giving me the opportunity to get a copy of the HCM, which i am aiming to afford in january 2011. it's been a HELL of a ride for me, but BOY was it ever worth it. and who do i have to thank for it all in the end? not HARMONY GOLD, not ROBOTECH, not the man in the moon, only SDF MACROSS.
  19. get this; i don't even have a PS3 yet and i just bought a game for it; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atelier_Rorona:_Alchemist_of_Arland http://escapefromrl.com/2010/08/25/atelier-rorona-demo/ i got the special edition that includes a hard cover artbook in a slipcase;
  20. good idea, i'll see about that...
  21. i love pretty much all of them, but "Do You Remember Love?" and "An Angel's Paints" are my favorites. i have the "MACROSS: THE COMPLETE" three CD set, and it all sounds just transcendent on my PIONEER PD-91 CD player; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PIONEER%20PD-91/PD-91MacG11-26-102.jpg
  22. as i have stated somewhere here on MW in the past, i've never seen the Suzumiya Anime past Ep.1. while i'm heavily considering getting the complete collections, i'm honestly not so sure that the series' alleged "Zaniness" would appeal all that much to me. still, i'm finding myself ever more compelled to give the series a shot, all on the strength of one darling sweet little lady; yes, i ♥Love♥ Miss Mikuru Asahina!! i haven't really seen her series at all, but nevertheless, the moment i had first seen her, back around the series' debut, 2005/2006ish, probably in an issue of NEWTYPE USA (R.I.P.) it was an undeniable Love♥ at first sight. several years on, i finally get an internet connection (*Embarrassing*) and go looking for the Mikuru Figma, and happen instead across the MegaHouse Mikuru doll that i now have. oh, my GOD!! i HAD to have her♥ she was everything i had truly wanted, but had ended up settling on the Figma for, not realizing that a doll of her had even existed! when i got her, i was taken to heaven above. still i had one little problem; her GINORMOUS melons!! i must be the only man on earth that actually DISLIKES "Z" cups on a woman, god save my soul... i found, however, that Mikuru's body was made by OBITSU corp. and that they made stock doll bodies for hobbyists. i was elated to find and order a body with smaller, "M" size breasts in Mikuru's skin tone. the results are shown above. as a long time doll hobbyist, i found that Mikuru's lingerie wasn't quite as "finished" as i thought it should be, so i added lace trim to the bra and panties, as well as made her a pair of frilly socks and a coordinated garter. all of which can also be seen in the above photos. i ♥Love♥ my precious little princess, and i'm planning to make several outfits for her, starting with a japanese elementary schoolgirl uniform (white red and dark royal blue) a wedding dress, and possibly also a copy of Lynn Minmay's concert costume seen at the climax of MACROSS; D.Y.R.L. at any rate, i'll be rather busy...
