Shaorin replied to ae_productions's topic in Toys
ah, ROBOTECH TOYS.COM!! one of the first fansites i happened across during my first explorations of the internet ten years back! brings back the memories!! -
several, actually. but, when it comes down to it, i suppose "Mamotte Shugogetten" as it is the series that features my very first fantasy girl crush, Miss "Shaorin Shichiri"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chobits Are we there yet? not quite, but a hell of a lot closer than i had ever figured back in 2001 that we might be by now !! - VIDEOS - http://www.cnjianqing.com/index.php?key=hrp4c - ARTICLES - http://www.cleveland.com/world/index.ssf/2009/03/walking_talking_female_robot_t.html http://www.xyberlog.com/2009/03/16/high-tech-talking-robot-girl-in-japan/ http://robotionary.com/robotics/womanoid-catwalk-model-robot.php and here's yet another take on the concept!! http://www.metro.co.uk/news/440494-no-time-for-a-real-woman-date-a-robot-instead So, after humanity perfects the Android Girlfriend for all us Ronery Otaku, what do you suppose'll be next? Robots to fight our wars? Transformable ones, perhaps? Or will humanity be so happy with their Robo-Girlfriends/Boyfriends that no one will care, and warfare will cease to exist?!?!

thanks! i had thought so... damn... i can remember, as if it was just yesterday, ten+ years ago, when the very concept of a fringe popularity VF-1 variant such as this ever seeing a mass production model release was considered a lofty fan dream at best. hell, we were even paying downright obscene sums of money for the best 1/55 chunkies back then, the choices for a fan were so limited!! My God, everyone should remember this whenever ire is leveled at YAMATO and their customary foul ups; no one, but NO ONE has ever done more for MACROSS fans than YAMATO have, and, much like SONY and PHILIPS with their new Compact Disc format back in 1982, YAMATO were (and still are) trail blazers, going where no one has gone before (forgive the cliche') in defining cutting edge engineering of high precision scale models of subjects whose past efforts in three dimensional rendition had taken so many compromises in design by way of perceived "necessity" that they could only be seen by discriminating eyes as child's toys. naturally, when exploring undiscovered country, as YAMATO have been doing for a decade now, there are bound to be some stumbles along the way. (the earliest Compact Disc players, for instance, are notorious for their distinctly bad sound quality when compared to examples only a couple/three years newer) still, in hind sight, with trophies of masterful bleeding-edge engineering, such as the 1/60v.II VF-1 in hand, i, for one can deeply appreciate all that YAMATO has done for MACROSS fans, and, while i emphasize with those that have been burned with defective products, don't you all feel it was money nevertheless very well spent in support of a company that has managed to bend over backwards to achieve MACROSS fan's loftiest dreams, and promises to take said fans places they never dared even imagine in the days ahead? i cannot say how everyone else feels, but for me, my 1/60v.II VF-1J Hik. T.V. is a most beautiful reality check on a daily basis. with a tear and a salute, i commend YAMATO corp's remarkable efforts...

that same guy has a whole pack of excellent clips!!

plus, no head module!! BOY, would BATTROID look awkward! and i thought the VT-1 and VE-1 had bizarre BATTROIDs... hope the thing MSRP's for $100 or less for all that... OK, i take that back. so, it's a 1A with no head laser? so i take that back as well! Damn It!! @ myself...

more than that, just look at the overall proportions. the 1/60v.II has a far more slender, elegant and well balanced overall look and feel. after living with a 1/48 Focker VF-1S ever since it's initial 2002 release, and pining all that time for exactly what the 1/60v.II turned out to be, and finally getting one in late 2008/early 2009, i KNOW the look and feel of the 1/48s by heart, and can spot them in an instant, no matter the color scheme... anyway, though, beautiful work. a set of T.F. AUTOBOT decals would definitely complete the package, providing you wish to be strictly accurate. for my part, however, i always found the giant logo on the nose to look decidedly grotesque. still, you ARE dealing with someone here that knows and loves their VF-1s first and foremost by canon colors, long after the era of 1984 first wave T.F.s and JETFIRE, so, by all means, please finish your amazingly accurate work, if you so desire to...

here is my very first variable VF-1 toy, a battered TF JETFIRE with a missing arm that i had picked up at a collectors toy shop in my hometown of PORTLAND, OR. along with some other TRANS FORMERS. i had traded the large collection of GI JOEs from my childhood for these items back around 2000/2001. i was totally enthralled with my first "Chunky Monkey" missing arm and all, as i had dreamed throughout the latter half of the 1990's of having one, and by the first times i had surfed the internet, around 1999/2000, i had wasted no time learning all about the 1/55s, 1/100s, 1/72 HCMs and the like, as well as the prices those items were commanding at the time, which flew about as high in the sky as these item's "real world" counterparts did in their T.V. series!! knowing that, you can see why i had felt so elated and grateful to own a POS example as the one i have. anyhow, later in '01, perhaps even in 2002, if i recall, i was staying up at my grandmother's, the only one in my family with an internet connection at the time (Dial Up!! AARRGGHH!!!) and i happen upon Mr. Jerry Tsai's VF-1x.com site, and the JETFIRE spare parts page he had at the time, from which i had found a replacement arm module for my JETFIRE for $20.00! my grandma ordered it for me, and i finally had a complete 1/55, albeit with no accessories. i was happy, but i nevertheless quickly grew unsatisfied with the bastardized non canon TF JETFIRE color scheme, and decided to buck up and attempt to put my decidedly poor painting skills into action... since then, i have went through pretty much all of YAMATO corp's phases regarding the venerable VF-1, from a 1/60v.1 VF-1A Hikaru DYRL, to a 1/48 VF-1S Focker, to my current and all time favorite 1/60v.II VF-1J Hikaru T.V. nevertheless, it all began for me with the train wreck up above there...

just wondering what other MWers have pets. for my part, i have a pair of female Guinea Pigs; "Mikuru" about 6mos. old; and "Aurica" about 4/5 years old now; they're both darlings, the most sweet tempered Guineas i've ever had, and i've had many off and on, since my very first, back around 1987/1988ish. my mother was even a Guinea breeder a couple of times in the last twenty-odd years, once around the late eighties, the other time in the early 2000s. she also bread Fancy Rats in the 1990's, and was a Finch fancier in the late eighties to early nineties, around the same time as her first first Guinea Pig kennel. while all this crap was going on, she was also breeding Pembroke Welsh Corgis. in fact, she was an AKC registered Corgi breeder from the late 1970's through the mid 2000s, when family difficulties forced her to give it all up. it's too bad, too, as her Corgi stock was descended from legendary British roots, one of the finest english bloodlines, if i recall. anyway, as you can see, animals have been a major element in my life. i have absolutely ZERO interest in breeding, despite my being raised around it constantly, but i DO INDEED love rodents, and after having just about every major species of them for pets at some time in my life (HAMSTERS/FANCY RATS/GERBILS/DWARF HAMSTERS/RABBITS/GUINEA PIGS) i have come to the personal conclusion that Guineas are the very best rodent pets on earth. (IMO, anyway.) BTW; Guineas have a delightful little language all their own. it's kind of hard to explain, so I'll let this site do that; http://jackiesguineapiggies.com/guineapigsounds.html

yep, they were just arranged in the home cartridge differently than they were in their arcade cart clones, since the arcade carts were even MORE expensive than their home versions, and SNK did not want arcade operators saving money by purchasing cheaper home carts for their NEO-GEO "MVS" (Multi Video System)arcade cabinet. interestingly, bootleggers actually once made and sold adapters to allow a NEO-GEO arcade cart to be inserted into a NEO "AES" (Advanced Entertainment System" home console, as today, the AES home cartridge versions of NEO GEO games are highly collectible, and tend to sell for FAR more than the MVS arcade cart versions, which are very plain cartridges with generic labels for the specific game, shipped in plain indistinct cardboard boxes. many arcade carts, as ugly as they are however, are sought after by die-hard NEO-GEO gamers, as many NEO games are VERY RARE, and some of the rarest, most popular titles, such as "METAL SLUG" have AES home cart versions which are EXTREMELY RARE in the U.S. and Japan, and command $1500.00+ easily whenever an example shows up. the MVS arcade cabinet versions of these games, however, are far more common, and can be generally be had for $100.00/$500.00, depending on the title. as such, MVS arcade carts are often the only practical way for a NEO-GEO gamer to own and play the rarer, more desirable NEO games... ((now, before anyone freaks out, bear in mind that i have realitively little invested in my tiny NEO-GEO collection; all of the games i own are common titles, so i only have about $100.00-odd into my games, and another $400.00 for the AES console and an extra memory card)) SEGA GENESIS (1989 U.S. 1st edition,NO foreign market game lockout system) SEGA SATURN (with GAME SHARK to load JPN games) SEGA GAME GEAR SEGA NOMAD (hand held GENESIS with LCD screen) NINTENDO NES NINTENDO SNES NINTENDO ULTRA 64 NINTENDO GAME CUBE NINTENDO Wii NINTENDO GAME BOY 1989 version 1 NINTENDO DS (BLACK) SONY Play Station 1 SONY Play Station 2 SONY Play Station 3 (forthcoming) SNK NEO-GEO AES

two years now of moderately heavy transformation with my VF-1J Hikaru T.V. so far, and ZERO shoulder issues! no issues of any sort, actually!! i don't know what i'm doing, but it must be SOMETHING right... ---either that, or i'm just DAMNED lucky...

the only three Figma i have as yet; RIGHT to LEFT; *Kagome Higurashi from INU YASHA: A Feudal Fairy Tale *Mikuru Asahina from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya *Nanoha Takamachii from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha i have kept their packaging so far, but i do not recall their products numbers. technically, however, i have actually bought FOUR Figma; the fourth being a woman from "Ikki Tousen; Great Guardians" that i picked up for the sole purpose of claiming her loose-knee-socked legs for Mikuru. i otherwise do not count her short existence in my collection at all, as i very much disliked her outside of her very specific use for my Mikuru, and have long since disposed of the unused balance of her body... ..feel free to kill me softly now...

yep, and i'm still there; i have most of the popular and historical VG consoles from the last 25 years, starting with the NINTENDO NES, my very first ever VG console, the SEGA GENESIS, bought by my parents during it's initial launch back in X-mas of 1989, and up to the NINTENDO Wii. i plan on a PS3 soon, if nothing else, then for the game i already picked up for it, that looked so cute to me that i couldn't resist;

No Beagle Blow Superior... that blows superior...
Shaorin replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
it became a total waste, however, after the turd broke on me in several places not long after i got it, though... hands disintegrated, that swinging hatch that flips out of the central rear fuselage and onto the left shoulder that you plug that weird sensor/antenna array into, well, that damned thing broke too. hell, even the forearm panel that one of the tail fins tuck into came off and i had to glue that back to place... anybody wants to take the POS off me, don't hesitate to drop me a line... -
try these on for size: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/298103/whats-the-deal-with-pcocc http://www.acoustic-dimension.com/furutech/furutech-PCOCC.htm also, try scraping the battery contacts clean on your remote, using an X-ACTO. also use a Q-TIP soaked in ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL to rub them clean. combining these methods should yield you a functional remote unit...
