  1. that reminds me of something i've been meaning to discuss; that little girl is supposed to be Mylene Jenius of MACROSS 7 fame, right? if so, then how in the world does her hair change from the green tone of her early childhood to the bubblegum pink of her late teenage years? perhaps somewhere in puberty she decided that those leafy green tresses are like SO NOT HAPPENING, and started using pink hair coloring kits on her hair and eyebrows for the hot-n'-Kawaii look?
  2. excellent work, though i find the whole VF-1 reentry concept unrealistic, at least in it's original form. the extended canopy shield in FIGHTER mode is my problem, which, according to modern logical VF-1 design concepts, SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SLIDE INTO PLACE OVER THE CANOPY IN FIGHTER MODE. far too much Anime Magic is required for that concept to work, IMHO. while one could conceivably contend that the shield is mounted on an armature system that allows it to extend out of the main fuselage and latch to place over the canopy while still in FIGHTER mode, the YAMATO 1/60ver.II as well as the 1/48 both establish that the existing canopy shield that tucks into it's nominal stowage position inside the main fuselage is NOT OF THE PROPER SIZE NOR SHAPE TO FIT OVER THE ENTIRE CANOPY IN FIGHTER MODE. sorry for being so anal, i just despise Anime Magic in mecha design. that quibble aside, good work there, logan...
  3. my 1987/1990 PIONEER PD-91 was made well before the dawn of CD-R - (though several consumer recordable CD formats were under development during 1987/1990, such as the TAIYO-YUDEN CD-R, and the TANDY/RADIO SHACK developed "THOR-CD" which was claimed at the time to be ready for consumer consumption by the early 1990s, but never did surface) - so the PD-91 requires adjustment of the FOCUS and TRACKING GAIN Variable Potentiometers before it'll read most any NERO-created, 8X Rec.ed CD-R without fail. the FOCUS and TRACKING GAIN were conservatively set at the factory to be JUST adequate to read factory discs, and all one is doing when turning those Vari-Pots is increasing the values enough to enable the laser to read the less reflective CD-R as well as it does the standard CD. on less conservatively adjusted vintage CD players, most notably the 1985/1987 DENON DCD-1500, (NOT the 1987/1988 DCD-1500II, which MAY or MAY NOT be the same, i've never owned one) the player has no problem reading most CD-Rs with NO ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED. of course, the DENON DCD-1500 looks and sounds nowhere near as good as the PIONEER PD-91, so the minor one-time inconvenience of adjustment is, of course, WELL worth the trouble...
  4. AMEN to that, Bro... http://www.brucelee.com/site/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Lee http://www.bruceleefoundation.com/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000045/ http://www.bruceleedivinewind.com/ http://www.maniacworld.com/Bruce_Lee.htm http://www.google.com/images?q=BRUCE+LEE&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=qMN&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=s&prmd=ivnsbo&source=lnms&tbs=isch:1&ei=FYBlTd-lHYaasAOwvO3nBA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CCcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1360&bih=564 i've seen all his films, -got all on DVD- and every last one was PHENOMENAL. save for those two that came after his death, which were cheesy as all hell, but still pretty entertaining cinema regardless. one thing was for certain, however, those movies left me wanting for MORE. it was truly a great loss to the world, Lee's untimely departure, as he would surely have graced the 1980's, 1990s, and probably even the 2000s with many, many more incredible films...
  5. sorry about that. what version was it?
  6. SONY SCD-1 that's sweet!! you still own/use it? anyway, thanks. it was PIONEER's very first "ELITE" series audiophile-grade CD player, their 1987/1990 PD-91. it weighs about 26lbs. and listed at $1300.00USD back in it's day. it has a magnificent sound quality, and has been claimed to meet/exceed most any sub-$1k.USD CD player made today. mine is unique, AFIK however, as it possesses the solid aluminum top panel and solid steel outboard power transformer support foot that was included on the japanese market-only PD-3000 variant, of which the U.S. stock PD-91 subtitutes a sheet metal top bonnet and hollow polycarbonate transformer foot. it also possesses the PD-3000's heavy resin-filled main isolator feet, which were provided empty/hollow on the PD-91 model. these upgrades were made from a dead/irreparable PD-3000 i acquired from a fellow audiophile/collector, which i assume had bought it in japan long ago, or picked it up via RINKYA on the net...
  7. where might i find "Synthesizer Fantasy"? can you point me in the right direction? also; here's everything i have so far. not much, but far better than nothing; i sure do need to shore up my MACROSS CD collection though; i'm well prepared with one of the best CD players ever made, the 1987/1990 PIONEER PD-91, and "MACROSS; THE COMPLETE" pretty much takes care of SDF/DYRL related MACROSS music for me, i just need to work on a couple of the essential MAC. PLUS albums, and perhaps some of the rarer discs out there, such as the aforementioned "DIGITAL TRIP; MACROSS SYNTHESIZER FANTASY"
  8. gotta get around to getting me one of those!! the D.N. variant, to be sure! some poses that just popped into the head. the Yammie 1/60v.II VF-1s are actually remarkably versatile in their flexibility; even a GUNDAM-esque pilot-egress pose!! don't go expecting much out of Ol' Gramps here, though; these tired old bones are a wee bit on the anemic side for any of that crazy Dirty Dancing that you young'uns are into these days. why, back in my day...
  9. hey there, all! i never did get a chance to see any of the HARRY POTTER films made in the last nine-ish years or so, nor have i ever read any of the books. me and the family, however, just rented the first six or so movies in the series from the local library, and we've been through the first two so far. i must admit, that while i was fully expecting to be underwhelmed going in, i have found myself rather impressed instead. this is pretty damned good stuff, IMO,pretty much in the same vein of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's heydays. i can see why the series had/has garnered such acclaim in the last decade. i'm looking forward to the balance of the series, and hoping that they kept the quality standards up. BTW; i found out that Anime/Manga artist "Koge-Donbo" was/is a big HP fan, and she has done some rather fetching HP fanart, providing one fancies the "Moe" art style, that is; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/11-1.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/03.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/07.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/10-1.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/08.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/ginny.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/cho.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/riddle.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/draco.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/lupin.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/Anime/snape.jpg
  10. actually... what exactly is up with those "Canopy Teeth" anyway? what purpose would they actually serve?
  11. the way that photo was shot makes that room appear to be packed full of chain smokers. guess that's what the stress and turmoil of RT fandom'll do to you...
  12. OKAY, my total bad there; USN. i wasn't thinking, and i was in a big hurry when posting that. it was an idea that had JUST popped into my mind. also, perhaps maybe the promotional effect had bled over to the USAF as well? i know that. i also know that HG was still attempting to heavily market RT in 1986. hell, according to HG at the time, we had both the movie AND the SENTINELS sequel T.V. series to look forward to some time in 1986, even if it all ended up vaporware in the end...
  13. a removable nosecone is nothing but trouble, unless they figured out a MUCH better way of tightly fitting it to the fuselage. back when i had only my 1/48 1S Focker, that removable nosecone was always getting knocked off in transformation, so i ended up gluing it in place. same goes for the fall-off wing ailerons and the flop-open in BATTROID mode chest-mounted air-brake. there was a very good reason YAMATO decided to leave the movable control surface/opening air-brake/removable nosecone feature set to the obsolete 1/48s; the features sound awesome enough on paper, but in practice, they prove themselves to be a real cast-iron B*&^ch. at least when applied to a fully transformable scale replica...
  14. y'know, i heard that 1986's "TOP GUN" was considered the greatest and most successful USN/USAF recruiting video of all time. in all honesty, i find it no small miracle that HG didn't attempt to claim the very same of ROBOTECH back then. hell, i was only about 5yrs old at the time, so for all know, they very well might have done just that...
  15. NyanNyan = MeowMeow NyanNyan/MeowMeow = Cat Girl Cat Girl = ♥Cute♥
  16. my mother's BF/hubby has the same issue. he got his machine via the OREGON HEALTH PLAN. it would have surely been way beyond his means otherwise. at any rate, another couple of days and i'll have that "SPYCATCHER" finished. then it'll be on to "MOSCOW RULES" by Daniel Silva...
  17. none other than the "Original" Moe Cupcake of SDF MAC.; followed up by Ishtar of MAC. II; and Ranka Lee of MAC. F; then there's miss Mylene Jenius of MAC.7; and finally, Mao Nome of MAC.0; (now, ideally, i would've PREFERRED to ring in with ONLY my No.1 choice, BUT, since the OP REQUIRES you make a selection from EACH of the given series, well...)
  18. this is how i always hold my VF-1Jv.II when manipulating either arm during transformation. i keep pressure on the shoulder assembly of the arm unit i'm rotating, with my thumb applying the pressure. i feel that this lessens/eliminates any flexure-induced stress normally imparted upon the mechanism's joints from the action of the required 180 degree rotation;
  19. a classic Shakespearean spin on a MACROSS toy, by all due courtesy of Babblefish... (DAMN, i NEED a YF-19D.Nuts... )
  20. ah! i'm looking forward to it!!
  21. "SPYCATCHER" by PETER WRIGHT (1988) almost finished with it...
  22. an unpainted one, with fairly ugly proportions, yes. each of the three releases includes a figure; *Chara Figure (unpainted); Hikaru Ichijo in flight suit (No.17; VF-1S) Lynn Minmay in DYRL pink and white stage dress (No.20; VF-1J) Misa Hayase in uniform (No.21; VF-1A)
  23. and the entire canopy/nosecone module along with it. the underline of the 1/60v.II has a very gentle, subtle curvature, which, IMO, is perfection itself, and far preferable the 1/48's radically exaggerated one...
  24. pretty much the story of my life (providing you swap out "Dad has always been into collecting all manner of things" with"Mom has always been into collecting all manner of things"
  25. here's my crappy little collection; * VF-1J YAMATO 1/60v.II * VF-1J BANDAI 1/72 High Complete Model * VF-1S YAMATO 1/48 Roy Focker Ver. * VF-1S TAKATOKU/BANDAI 1/55 (TRANS FORMERS "JETFIRE" Ver. x2 (one custom painted, one original) * VF-1S IMAI/BANDAI 1/72 VARIABLE TYPE Model Kit (ROBOTECH "VEXAR" Repackage) * VF-1A IMAI 1/72 VARIABLE TYPE Model Kit -PLANNED ADDITIONS- * VF-1J IMAI 1/72 VARIABLE TYPE Model Kit (UNBUILT) * VF-11C YAMATO 1/60 * YF-19 YAMATO 1/60 "Double Nuts" Ver.
