  1. yessir, a "MODAT-5 Mobile Computer Interface Terminal" referred to as the "BAHAMODE" stolen from the HARMONY GOLD series "MEGAAREA 32" i've got a real nice toy of the thing, made by TOYNAMI, and even comes complete with MARK LANDRY and EVE action figures!!
  2. i dunno. i prefer the all-white look myself. this IS the Ichijo TV version we are discussing, correct? 1/60v.II? i don't see, however, why you would have to dismantle the head unit in order to paint the visor section. all one would really need is a bottle of TAMIYA COLOR XF-63 "GERMAN GREY" a fine brush, and a steady hand...
  3. good stuff. much better than i was expecting. best Anime i've seen in a while now, in fact. the worst thing i can say about the series, however, which IS a PRETTY DAMNED BIG worst, for me, at least, is that Miku-chan♥ IS, sadly, INDEED a WUSS, more often than not. i cannot disagree with that, much as i'd love to. i found it, at different times, amusing, endearing and sadly pathetic. i cannot and will not let that affect my love of Mikuru, however, she is my Eternal Sweetie♥ regardless. i can very much understand where all the Yuki Nagato love comes from; she is most sweet, earnest and endearing, as i might imagine many reserved, bookwormish women out there can be. Haruhi? i was expecting to loathe her the whole way through, but found her to be quite fun and charming, despite her eccentricities. i guess she really would be a blast to be around, providing she was in a good mood. anybody ever feel that she might be something of a closet Lesbie though? the majority of the series both me and my little sister thoroughly enjoyed, though the island mansion episode we both could have done without, as we both agreed that it smacked too much of a SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY, and certainly didn't do anything to help poor Mikuru's case, either. last ep had a big fat block of filler material that was most annoying, three to five minutes worth, that felt more like fifteen. come ON, KyoAni, couldn't you have thought of anything better than that? on the whole, a worthy addition to my Anime collection. i look forward to the second season and movie...

  5. i'd be perfectly happy just to finally get one!!
  6. no, that's not my figure. i've no interest in owning such a turd...
  7. placing a swatch of electricians tape around the top half of the ball tends to tighten up a ball joint very nicely. for instance the ankle ball joints on my 1/35 PLUM AS-5E3 LEYNOS kit tended to be a bit sloppy, making the mecha slowly start to lean forward at the ankles if left standing alone. i performed the mod on it's ankle joints, and now no more lean... man, believe it or not, i'm actually REALLY beginning to desire this VF-19. but $300.00 is so far out of reason that it is ridiculous...
  8. in other words; classic ARII...
  9. the NAPALM is the most powerful weapon in the game, however. yeah, i've heard of that one. i believe i heard that it is priced higher because it's a DENGEKI exclusive limited release, but i could be mistaken. i'm happy with the SPACE type that i got. if PLUM eventually release a VALKEN, then i'll most likely pick one of those up to complement the LEYNOS i already have...
  10. it comes moulded in BUFF, LIGHT GRAY and DARK GRAY, with a single CLEAR part (the camera/sensor lens) i have left mine in it's moulded colors, with detail painting where necessary. there was no decals included, which meant that i had to use masking tape to get that red stripe painted on the right shoulder cylinder there...
  11. i'll be starting Haruhi Suzumiya for the first time as soon as i get the 1st series complete collection in the mail. i've had apprehensions about the series since i first heard of it, but i also instantly fell in love with one of the series' characters, and after all this time i've finally broken down and decided to give the show a shot...
  12. finished, for the most part. still have some touch up and detail work yet, mostly on the pilot. regardless, both are essentially complete;
  13. progress on this model is shown here; http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35120&st=35
  14. just started playing the U.S. CYBERNATOR port of AS VALKEN a few days ago, and, what can i say? PURE AWESOME. my GOD, where has this game BEEN all my life? i GET INTO this game, in the very same way that i have always gotten into LEYNOS. it isn't perfect, and neither is LEYNOS. but i'll be damned if both of them aren't CLOSE ENOUGH to perfection for me!! they just don't make 'em like this anymore. a RARE GEM, even in it's day. i have made it to the final boss so far, and have almost managed to defeat it before running dry of credits. i use the NAPALM weapon cheat every time i play through, otherwise the game would be next to impossible. i have a SUPER FAMICOM copy of AS VALKEN coming soon, and a pass-through converter to play it on my SUPER NINTENDO. i already know the CYBERNATOR version like the back of my hand, so i'll be able to spot all the differences between the two versions instantly...
  15. perhaps, but what of all the material out there, most especially Anime, that was released during the Great U.S. Anime Boom, that has not as yet, and is all but guaranteed to never see another video release, on BR or whatever format happens to supersede it in the future? there are plenty of reasons to keep a top-flight DVD player around, what i outlined above chief among them. to be honest, i actually HAVE a BR player. watching my first BRD on it, believe it or not, did NOT instantly make me want to yank my S-VHS VCR, DVD player and LD player out of my system and kick 'em to the curb. why? because i have RESPECT for all of these Video formats. i understand and can accept their weaknesses alongside their strengths. each and every one of them were a revelation in their day, and the best examples of their respective media, played back on the best examples of their respective playback devices, are STILL impressive for what they are, even to this very day. one day, sooner, rather than later, even Blu-Ray will be kicked to the curb as an "Unwatchably Outdated" Video format. and i'll be there defending IT, as well...
  16. 'cause EVERYONE wants to know that happened to !!!!RICK HUNTER!!!! i sleep with my highly accurate replica figure of him every night, dreaming of the day when he will come back to take us all to a better world... This, Dear Friends, is the Face of a SAVIOR...
  17. the DV-525 listed at $425.00 in it's day. basically an entry-level model for it's time. the DV-09 was PIONEER's very first ELITE series DVD player, listed at $2000.00, and was their TOTL reference player for three years.(1998/2000) any way you slice it, there's a colossal difference there. the general performance characteristics between two models of DVD player are bound to be quite disparate, when one is an entry level, and the other a TOTL reference, with the best engineers and highest design budget allotment that PIONEER had to offer at the time. in sum, although the DV-09 HAS been outmoded since, it IS still considered by many to be a FINE DVDP, hard to beat in performance in the price range it sells for in today's used market, and IMPOSSIBLE to beat in terms of craftsmanship. anyway, pissing contest aside, so long as i pick up the 2nd season and the upcoming movie, i'll be fine?
  18. it may be ancient (1998/2000) but it's built like almost nothing is anymore, reliable as all get out, and with a Dual-Mono configuration, CLASS-A analog L/R audio output stage, i can guarantee it sounds galaxies better than any PS3 ever could. the video output is nothing to sneeze at either. anyway, i assume the DVD sets have the series' eps in proper chronological order, rather than the weird, jumbled-up order that the T.V. broadcast was infamous for?
  19. Truly? thank goodness! what in the world is up with the K-ON! style 2nd season cover art then? oh. bummer. i don't mind the K-ON! style, i just prefer the season 1 style best. further, like i said before, it was a bad decision on KyoAni's part, IMO. any Anime series should have consistent visual design, start to finish, IMHO, and the only time a noticeably different visual style is excusable in a series is when you have ten or twenty years between installments. in sum, i think KyoAni's obvious pandering to the Anime Chara flavor of the month syndrome within the span of a successive installment in a single, continuing series storyline was very poor decision making indeed. i'll be getting the 2nd season regardless i'm sure, i just hope this little gripe doesn't dampen the experience for me... i'll be seeing it on a 32" CRT monitor fed by a once $2000.00 TOTL DVD player, so i think i'll be just fine in that regard, at least...
  20. i was planning to do just that. too bad they switched to the K-ON art style for the 2nd season though; it's cute and all, but being so integral a part of the series master tapestry, it would have served so much better for it to match the 1st season's visual style...
  21. well, fellow Valk Jocks, i finally bit the proverbial bullet and picked myself up the first series complete collection; that is the version of the set i should get, if the seller is accurate about their stock photos. it should arrive in a week or so. i've had my rather considerable trepidations in regards to this series for a very long time now, despite it's visually fetching nature. and yet; i just can't seem resist it any longer; it just doesn't seem right to have never owned nor seen the series that my personal Favorite Anime Chara of All Time happens to hail from. let's hope that this thing doesn't end up becoming one big-a$$ed Ta-Ta to what remains of my personal sanity. i also picked up this rather beautiful 130 page Artbook as a companion piece; -hell or high water, good or bad, i'll finally get to see what all the hub-bub that surrounded this series for years was all about. more than a bit late, perhaps, but better late than never, i suppose. i just really hope that there isn't a demon beneath this series' pretty facade, like i have always suspected since 2007. the prettiest flowers tend to have the sharpest thorns, after all... well, cross my heart, and hope not to lose my mind...
  22. the current 1/60 VF-1 series is referred to as the 1/60ver.II, and is the third generation of YAMATO's VF-1 design; *2001 - 1/60ver.I *2002 - 1/48 *2008 - 1/60ver.II if YAMATO were to ever release an updated 1/48 VF-1, like several fellow MW members continue to pine for, then that would end up being a 1/48ver.II, and YAMATO's 4th generation VF-1. that however, is most unlikely, especially in today's flooded MACROSS market. if there is ever to be a 4th generation YAMATO VF-1, it will be all but guaranteed to be a "1/60ver.III" but even that is rather unlikely, all things considered...
  23. the only Figma that i happen to own;
  24. yeah, i've had METAL WARRIORS for over a decade now. it truly is difficult. i just picked up copies of both VALKEN and CYBERNATOR off EBAY for peanuts a few days back. this will be my first time experiencing the game... oh, and and i'm nearly finished with my paint work on the AS-5E3. pics will come soon as i'm done...
