What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Shaorin replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
sorry... it isn't mine. found the photo in a GOOGLE search. Miss Miku♥ there most certainly is, however... -
why? isn't that what one might accurately consider to be storyline? after all, it is well known that Kojima-san's ultimate goal always was to develop a true "Interactive Movie" experience in a VG, which he has been rather adroitly accomplishing, time and again, since MGS1 way back in 1998. perhaps it's just due to the fact that i have never been an FPS fan, and, as such, have never really played anything besides the MGS series that bears any semblance to the genre, but there is a lot i appreciate about the MGS games, and how they are designed. to be precise, there has never been one so far that has not gotten my blood pumping and mind racing just like the best techno-action edge-of-your-seat thrillers i have ever seen in my 30 years of life. further, most every one has some truly terrific, insightful food for thought to balance out the hairpin action. so, in sum, for me, these games really truly have it all,in very much the same way as the best motion pictures out there do. truly, the closest, IMHO, the industry has ever come to the true, quintessential "Interactive Movie"

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Shaorin replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
just finished this three-hour motion picture up with my little sister recently. great stuff, with breathtaking Animation to die for (at least by today's standards) yet, somehow, the whole thing was ultimately unsatisfying to me. probably because of the fact that this is but a small part of the entire Suzumiya tapestry, which spans, like nearly, or over 10 novels by now. also probably due to the fact that Mikuru Asahina is my favorite chara in the series, and one of my most favorite Anime Girl Charas of all time, and yet it seems like she is constantly irritatingly given the boot to the head in the series as the useless/weak-willed character that has feelings for the main protagonist, yet is forever doomed to distancing herself from him. it just ain't amusing to me anymore, guys, and it never really ever was to begin with... perhaps i am old-fashioned. perhaps, i'm looking for the wrong things in this series, but i rather feel that this VERY LONG Anime movie could have been better executed as the entirety of the of the complete Suzumiya saga, skillfully condensed down into an amazing three-hour motion picture, and not feel at all like the content of several half-hour episodes, lavishly Animated, and strung together into a movie-length feature. Again, i'm most likely looking for all the wrong things here. perhaps i'd rather the Suzumiya series be just another tired old romantic drama, rather than some Anime X-FILES for brainiac conspiracy theorists. this sweet little Angel♥ deserves far better, AFAIC... -
well, i'm a bit over halfway in MGS4, and it has, so far proven the best PS3 game i've played to date, by far! truly is, like all the MGS entries before it, a true EXPERIENCE, rather than a mere simple "Video Game" i REALLY enjoyed all the small details, such as the wild Guinea Pig herds in the South American portion of the game. way to go, Director Kojima!! and the Z.O.M.G. straight out of the wildest wet dreams i had, going through MGS1 on the PS1 back in 1998!! WHAT a sendoff to the series, Kojima-san!!!!

can anyone provide a complete ,non-obliterated pic of this particular little golden nugget of Shakespearean poetry?

chalk up one more addition to my humble little collection; -i finally got the TAKARA/HOBBY BASE DYRL Minmay doll i have always wanted, since first seeing her in the Jan. 1998 "MEMORIES OF MACROSS CHILDREN" issue of HOBBY JAPAN that i've had a copy of since a month or three after it's original publishing date. i have replaced her original, TAKARA "JENNY" doll body with a far superior OBITSU, ("NATURAL" skin tone, "SMALL" bust size) and intend further improvements, such as replacing the hard vinyl boots and gloves with handmade, soft vinyl "Pleather" substitutes, as well as a little work on her microphone, to match it up with the look of the one included with my CM's "GUTTO KURU" 1/8 Minmay...

can't argue with that; at least the 1/100 AIRMASTER has a perfect transformation, easy enough to achieve with how simple it's design is, i suppose...

that 1/100 -19S was my very first ever "Variable" VF of any sort. thought it was the total Cat's Ass back around 1997ish, when i picked it up for right around $40.00. played with it until it totally wore out. those infernal tiny nubs that attach the wings to the legs in FIGHTER broke away in no time flat. god, did that model ever suck. way to go BANDAI, you pack of GUNDAM Pimps, you... **** I'LL SECOND THAT!! ****

i've found rubbing alcohol to be quite effective for such things as well. at least the "MADE IN CHINA" is a removable tampo print on unpainted bare plastic, and not molded in on the wing root underside, like on pretty much every other YAMATO Valk in existence. all things being equal, i'm delightfully surprised at how much the old, obsolete 1/60v.1 YF-19 satisfies me, even after all this terrific -19S porno. in fact, i actually tend to PREFER many of the design elements of the old 19 that have been "corrected" on these new 19 variants, and can pretty much safely assume will be remaining as so on a forthcoming YF-19 1/60v.II...

same for me, back in the late 1990's, when i stumbled upon the BEST VIDEO VHS edition of the infamous "SUPERSPACE" TOHO english dub. i remember now; $15.00, for a suck-ass english dub, recorded in suck-ass EP/LP REC. speed mode. as such, the nearly two hours of movie was crammed into a 30min. (in highest quality SP mode) T-30 blank, and a really shitty one, at that. still, it WAS my first exposure to DYRL, and AT LEAST it was the full, unedited movie, regardless of the laughably clueless english language script alterations and VA...

here's my ¥200 to add to the pot. while i actually have three incomplete TF JETFIREs that i've had around since the very early 2000's, (one that i customed into a Focker 1S, one i left as an original JETFIRE, and the last i picked up cheaply for replacement parts for my 1S customization) these days, my 1985 BANDAI 1/72 HCM VF-1J is the only vintage VF-1 toy i really care to own, let alone show off; **** (( while i was merely around four years of age when this baby hit market in it's day, by 1989ish or thereabouts, i received a very poorly painted/finished copy of the REVELL/CEIJI ROBOTECH CHANGERS "VEXAR" version of the original 1983 IMAI 1/72 Focker VF-1S VARIABLE TYPE from a nephew, which was my very first experience with a MACROSS VF, and left an unquestionably potent impression upon me back then. since this HCM is essentially a highly refined, near-perfect transformation variation of the old IMAI model kit, with refinements of some of the better 1/55 design elements thrown in for good measure, i consider this toy-like model to be THE quintessential vintage MACROSS VF toy, and very deeply sentimental on a personal level...)) ****

"Rinne no LAGRANGE": Coming in Jan 2012.
Shaorin replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
pretty much Meh, on all fronts, from here, too... -
Amen, same here. if i still had the 1/60v.I VF-1A Hikaru DYRL that was (blessedly) the lone single entry i ever got from that retched edition, before moving directly to the 1/48's, then i'd say that the 1/60v.I quite handily outperforms the 1/72 VF-11B in terms of sheer Meh-ness, but, thankfully, i have long since unloaded myself of that single piece of 1/60v.I offal, whilst i still have the 11B, so i'd say that the 11B is pretty much the last "modern" MACROSS item i still have around with any degree of personal "Meh-factor" now, in regards to the old BANDAI 1/65 MAC-7 VF-17D and VF-19kai i still have floating about; the less said about those, the better...

Syd Mead is a legend, and pretty much unique. IMO, he stand's in a class of his own, in fact. his work on movies like TRON, ALIEN/ALIENS, BLADE RUNNER, Etc. was and is truly visionary. that said, his contribution to Anime, the "TURN-A GUNDAM" is, while quite unique and imaginative, rather turns traditional Japanese Mecha design sensibilities on their head, and as such, is not overly popular among fans, myself included;

you kidding me? EVERYTHING that FASA corp. pulled out of their asses in the 90's, after they stopped ripping off japanese designs, sucked total ass. it has been proven, time and again, that, on the whole, westerners simply DO NOT know how to design Mecha. serious mecha design requires a certain mindset, and a certain eye for design. a specific design ethic, if you will. that very specific design ethic has been repeatedly demonstrated, many, many times, past and present, to be virtually exclusively Japanese in origin. virtually EVERY time the very few truly competent western Mecha designers out there have ever displayed any true design virtuosity is when they have either learned their craft via paying careful attention to the ways and means of true japanese Mecha design, or are simply aping off existing japanese design work wholesale...

JUST TO UPDATE; i've put far more transformations now, than i can even begin to estimate, on this baby, and still no signs anywhere whatsoever that anything on it is about to Disintegrate/Explode/Crumble/what have you. in fact, i'e dismantled the thing already, and tightened up some of the looser joints through my Elec. tape method, and now this Valk is surprisingly tight, considering it's notoriety for general overall looseness. i'd say, according to what i've heard regarding them, that this old 1st Ed. has got to be at least as nice and tight now as the BoP and DN repaints...
