really? then you ought to try tackling the 1/60 PG Z-GUNDAM. i'm certain you'd have the time of your life with it; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PGZ-GUNDAM10-23-09.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PGZGUNDAM3-4-102.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/PGZGUNDAM12-11-09.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PerfectGradeZ-Gundam22.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PerfectGradeZ-Gundam21.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PGZ-GUNDAM-FINISHED2.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PerfectGradeZ-Gundam5.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/75680_about4.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/75680_about5.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PERFECT%20GRADE%20ZETA%20GUNDAM/1-60PGZETAGUNDAM3.jpg -Case in Point; Refer to the former Above ... -
ah, i see now. upon closer inspection, the one in the Quipao is definitely not Minmay-chan. i'd kill just to have her DYRL edition there. i know that her face is not the most accurate, but it sure does look adorable from a distance like that photo shows. that said, if i was ever in a position to be able to afford her, i think i'd just go the extra mile and have a custom VOLKS Dollfie head made up for her. with the massive variety of Dollfie facial types available, i'd be guaranteed to be able to make a spot on likeness. this is what YAMATO should have done in the first place, IMHO. in the end, i'd probably want her general look to err on the Moe side, having a head modeled probably off of her MACROSS; THE FIRST iteration...

i'd say ROBOTECH was pretty much my Gateway, as i recall memories of seeing an ep or two, and getting at least one of the BGMs stuck in my head, sometime in my early preteen years, probably around '86, when i was around five years old or so. then, in the late 80's, probably 1989ish, one of my nephews gave me the ROBOTECH CHANGERS "VEXAR" (IMAI 1/72 VF-1S Focker VARIABLE TYPE) that he had built up VERY badly some years beforehand. it being a fragile model, and me, being a young preteen, it didn't last me very long at all. still, it left an impression on me. some years later, around 1993/94 i was first introduced to MACROSS proper, with a copy of the old ARII 1/100 VF-1J Hikaru GERWALK model kit. that model sparked my interest, and led me to discovering ROBOTECH via the PALLADIUM RPG BOOK ONE. that book in turn led me to the 1990's edition, double-episode per volume ROBOTECH VHS editions at my local SUNCOAST VIDEO. not long after, i was steered back to MACROSS, by way of MANGA VIDEO's editions of MACROSS II and MACROSS PLUS; THE MOVIE. from then on, i became a MACROSS fan first and foremost, putting up with ROBOTECH only because it was the only way i had to experience MACROSS, and to a lesser important degree, MOSPEADA. today, i am complete and total MACROSS fan, with nothing more than the mildest interest in ROBOTECH, as nothing more than a sentimental curiosity...

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Shaorin replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
1st Vol. (Ep. 1-4) so far, and, as Mickey D's might say; "I'm Lovin' it" what can i say? it's ♥Adorable♥ -
you're so damned lucky to have both of those VMF-50 Minmay dolls. they're so lovely♥
-
♥Little Miss Shutterbug♥ this lovely little dress, for my sweet Angel Mikuru Asahina♥ was appropriated from a new-old-stock late-1990's TAKARA "Jenny" that i picked up from a Singapore-based BAY seller; -further, i also something i've been looking for for some time now; this perfectly scaled, GLICO brand 27cm-doll size model of a late-1970's/early 80's "F-series" model Nikon brand film type SLR;

i used to have a modest little collection of random Valk toys, centered around the first two YAMATO 1/48 releases (VF-1A Hikaru &VF-1S Focker DYRL) but these days, now that i can be a Chooser rather then a Beggar, in a rather saturated market, no less, i've been offloading my unwanted excess here on MW's buy/sell forum, and have been concentrating on building a permanent collection that contains nothing more or less than what i really want the most; - YAMATO - 1/60v.II; VF-1J Ichijo T.V. 1/60v.II; VF-1S Focker (FUTURE PURCHASE) 1/60v.I YF-19 EXCALIBUR 1/60v.I; VF-11B (Or -11C) (FUTURE PURCHASE) 1/60v.I; YF-21 (FUTURE PURCHASE) - BANDAI - HCM No.20; 1/72 VF-1J Ichijo T.V. HCM No.17; 1/72 VF-1S Ichijo D.Y.R.L. (POSSIBLE FUTURE PURCHASE) - TAKATOKU - 1/55 VF-1J Ichijo T.V. (POSSIBLE FUTURE PURCHASE) 1/55 VF-1S Focker (POSSIBLE FUTURE PURCHASE)

would you consider any of the 1970's-era Japanese products shown in here as "cheap crap" ? http://silverpioneer.netfirms.com/ further, do you possibly think you could find a single chinese product, made in the last 40 years to present, that's even half as well made as these?

and therein lies the problem; LG. "LUCKY-GOLDSTAR" yes, the VERY SAME "GOLD STAR" of the 1980's, that tossed out all those terrible, low-grade products in their bid to try to dominate the low-end of the U.S. CE market. admittedly, SAMSUNG was pretty much playing in the very same field back then, but, judging by the performance of this new LCD of mine, which was a $600.00, 40" "upper-entry-level" model, SAMSUNG is at least trying hard. i might be very mistaken on this, but i have, and have always had, a very strong suspicion that LG has always been third fiddle in everything they do... and even now in the 21st century they haven't changed much at all. make no mistake... i resent BOTH companies; as BOTH have played leading parts in the rapid recession of the great old Japanese giants from much, if not most of the U.S. CE industry... EXACTLY. when me and my mother's BF moved my old 32" TOSHIBA CRT out, which, according to the manual, is slightly over 100lbs. the last bit of love and loyalty i had for CRT video monitor tech evaporated along with the sweat shedded in the effort of moving my particular overweight beast out of the house. indeed, with this new LCD, which is specified to weigh in at around 40lbs. there is now no single element of my AV system that i cannot easily pick up and move on my own, and i like that very much indeed... that's exactly what i have found to be the case. i have ALL SD enhancements OFF on mine, and this provides the best performance, which, to my eyes, is actually BETTER than how it looked on CRT. BETTER, i contend, because, like KEITH here says; exactly that. SD on a quality HD monitor is, simply put, Brutally Honest. whatever looks bad about your SD source looks bad on an HDM, and whatever looks good about it looks just that; good. for my part, i have long since gotten used to the strengths and weaknesses of all my SD sources, and they simply don't bother me. it took a few days to get used to how this new monitor displays everything without apology, but, much like how an audiophile learns to hear "Musical Truth" for what it is, i have come to accept and appreciate seeing all the SD sources i spent my childhood with through a crystal-clear window...

Sandra Bollock as Sheryl Nome... guess that MIGHT have worked, 15/20 years ago, when Sandra was still rather young-n'-Cute...

well, i finally joined the 21st century, about as much as i ever feel i'm about to, anyway; yes, it's an Effin' SAMSUNG, LCD type. it really does the job for me quite handily though; with the proper picture settings, and ALL of the DNR functions OFF, all my SD sources- (S-VHS VCR, LD, vintage Video Games) -look better than ever. after being used to CRT tech my whole life, it took a little getting used to, but as soon as i adjusted to the idiosyncrasies of the technology, i was in heaven. yes, this thing lets all of my SD sources' shine their deficiencies right through, but it also displays all of their strengths in high relief as well. you adjust, and get used to it, and you find that it, on the whole, is a far superior way to roll in SD than CRT tech ever was. now, as far as my DV-09 DVDP is concerned? i can finally use COMPONENT VIDEO connection, and, of course, it has never looked better...

my god, USD $386 and change for all that? lucky stiff. i need an 11B myself, and a spare 1/60v.II -1J Hik wouldn'tve hurted one bit either. and all that other stuff would have been real sweet icing on the cake, too...

tell me about it. it's rather interesting, is it not? things were so much simpler back then, yet there were SO MANY unique and imaginative concepts abound. indeed, the 1980's alone was bursting at the seams with them, the world over. SDF/DYRL era MACROSS itself is an ideal standard bearing example of this. SO much raw creative talent and energy...

there's a number of MOC copies out there at the moment, as well; http://www.ebay.com/...=item4ab17d7768 http://www.ebay.com/sch/Action-Figures-/246/i.html?_nkw=VISIONARIES&_catref=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1538#item4ab17d7768

i find myself in pretty much the same camp. everything about the original 1/60's GERWALK just seems "right" to my eyes... after dismantling the entire thing, and performing my electrician's tape trick to just about every joint, this thing now manages to hold together quite tightly indeed, even in it's infamously floppy GERWALK. hell, i imagine it's gotta be now AT LEAST as tight as i recall hearing the D.N. and BoP variants were, on average...

have a look at this. perhaps this might be just the thing to give you a truly very merry Christmas indeed; http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-complete-set-Visionaries-/190610089016?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c613f2438

oh i'm quite past all that by now; how else do you you think i'd have known about this; regardless, i agree, the was done just beautifully, IMO...

i was too young to have caught the show on T.V. but my mother did pick me up figures of two of the three principles ( guy with blue/silver armor, guy with green/black armor, complete with helmets/backpacks/accessories ) at a flea market sometime back around the late 80's to early 90's. i still have them to this day, though i had somehow managed to break one of the green/black armor guy's legs off at the hip way back when, and have since super glued it back in place...

my two (DYRL -1A Hikaru, -1S Focker) were pretty rough as well, after the better part of ten years of use. regardless, i was able to sell them off here on MW, not long back, for what i consider a very fair price, quite quickly. there seems to be plenty of 1/48 fans out there willing to buy even heavily used 1/48 examples for spare parts/customizations/etc...

i had picked up the VF-17D pack at a local comic shop back in the late '90s. i still have 'em around; they're in just about a perfect 1/60-1/55 scale for Miss Miku-chan, in fact;

look at it this way; i could have bought THREE of these criminally overpriced bastards with how much these two Audio components cost me, about a year ago; http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PIONEER%20PD-91/PD-91JOHN5-29-112.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PIONEER%20PD-91/PD-91CD-RAdjustment10-29-111.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/PIONEER%20PD-91/PD-91MacG11-26-102.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/MacGyver%20System%202011/VSX-D1SJohn9-20-11.jpg http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/MacGyver%20System%202011/VSX-D1S4.jpg -it was more than worth it, though;between the two of them. my music/AV sources have never sounded sweeter, and my overall Hi-Fi / A/V system has never looked better, to my eyes, at least...
