  1. amazing just how many of the 1/60v.II decals actually work so very well with this teeny thing...
  2. ah, thanks!!
  3. extras from my 1/60v.IIs, mostly. the stand, that was culled from the old 1982/'83 original issue ARII 1/100 1S Focker FAST PACK VARIABLE TYPE model kit...
  4. AWESOME stuff there, wish i had one of those myself. want to part with it?
  5. and stalled itself right into a dip in the Indian Ocean... MAVERICK!!-i mean-BANDAI!!!!
  6. which one? 200? CM's GUTTO KURU 1/8 figure, or 1997 TAKARA/YELLOW SUB. 1/6 doll?
  7. MASAMUNE SHIROW never was my personal bag either, though he always did seem revered for well over a decade right on up there at the Avant-garde of old-school "Babes-n'-Bazookas" Western Anime fandom. for my personal part, however, the Maids and Frilly-Fru-Fru couldn't have come quickly enough. the 1990's U.S. Anime scene alone presented more "Butch" than i was ever in any real mood for, YMMV...
  8. i was indeed for me as well. smooth as could be expected.was my initial impression. for my personal part, at least, things simply went down very hard and very fast from therein, unfortunately...

    Macross figures

she just came today♥ much larger than expected!!
  10. actually, there is a LOT of good ideas in this tiny model, IMHO, that would have better served the IMAI 1/72 and it's far better overall proportions. for instance, the FIGHTER mode leg mounting lugs, and the separate chest/frontal fuselage half sliding mechanism are both far more rugged than the 1/72's combined design. also, the metal back-pack swing bar is vastly more reassuring than the 1/72's plastic equivalent. counterbalancing those fantastic positives are the plug-in metal landing gear pretty much necessitated at this scale and vintage of design, the lack of forearm rotational joints, making for truly awful arm poseability for GERWALK and BATTROID, and generally awful overall proportions that make the 1/72 look like a Yammie 1/60v.II by direct comparison. alas, this 1982/'83 ARII kit is in that awful mint-toned plastic "Duymon" there mentioned above, and the 1990 BANDAI reissue i got alongside is molded in an odd lavender-gray, so the finished combined kitbash is gonna look mighty goofy since i have no intention of doing a full paint job on a model clearly meant as more of a toy than a pro modellers' display piece. perhaps down the line i'll pick up a pair of BANDAI 15th or 25th reissues to replace this minty mess with, or at least one, so i can slap a kit molded in proper colors into that 1982/'83 ARII box. in the mean, i'll attempt to do my best on this Mint-Choc. Chip VF-1, and post the results for us all to point and laugh at...
  11. try one. you've honestly nothing to lose.... (besides your overall good humor for the day... ) can you honestly blame them for half a millisecond? couldn't have put it any better myself...
  12. oh, i thought i'd go ahead and show off this fairly rare-ish old nugget of 30 years ago, beside today's gold standard in variable VF-1 scale rectifications in 1/100. this kit is just about as old as i am (B. date JAN.1982) and i've desired a copy since i saw it first in a JAN. 1998 issue of HOBBY JAPAN commemorating the 15th anniversary. that HJ issue was my MACROSS "SEARS wish book" for many years before i finally got net access. anyway, i picked the kit up as a set off the BAY, along with a beat-up original edition of the 1990 BANDAI reissue of this same model, for $25shipped. i intend to build it up less the SUPER/STRIKE packs, which requires that i bum the inner leg halves from the 1990 BANDAI, and shave away the forearm SUPER/STRIKE pods. (which i've already just finished) that done, the model will build up nicely as a standard 1S, and will be a nice addition to my growing VF-1 squadron in various scales. i'll keep you posted on progress here on this thread...
  13. i sure as hell did, exactly as instructions dictated. the model should have been amazing, and i had thought that it was going to be. i was determined to do the best job with it i possibly could, detail painting and the whole nine yards. i was not about to screw off with this one. i finished assembly, attempted a transformation, and it was altogether instantly clear that the model was a deeply flawed, unsalvageable mess. seriously, a METRIC TON of issues abound that should have been long addressed to back in the CAD phase; landing gear bay doors with pins so minutely tiny that they cannot even begin to hold the door panels securely in place, FIGHTER mode leg-nacelle securing lugs WAY THE HELL OFF of where they should be, preventing proper interface, shoulder-hinge-linkage assemblies that constantly pop free despite all the extensive implementation of metal shafts, a wonky arm-shoulder rotation point that pops free all the damned time, et-cetera, et cetera, ET-EFFIN'-CETERA. in sum. there is no defending BANDAI, nor this Frankenstein they've marketed, apologies if you cannot bring yourself to agree. only one real remedy exists for this nightmare; BACK TO THE WACOM DRAWING TABLET RIGHT THE HELL NAO, BANDAI, OR I SHOOT YOU ALL DEAD UNTIL YOU DIE OF IT...
  14. you really dislike the 1/60v.II VF-1 that much?!? seriously dude, i cannot stress enough just how much you are honestly missing out on, not owning at least one...
  15. backing you up on that advice 200%
  16. for my bit, i actually liked Jackman as Wolverine in Origins. i'm fairly sure i'll most probably like him here just as well. he did an outstanding job, IMHO, portraying Logan as an all round decent, down-to-earth human being that has suffered a solid hand of rather shitty cards by life, and continues on doing his best for the memory of his lost love, and for the benefit of the future of those he cares for. . perhaps i am merely naive and immature, but i tend to find such a character portrayal rather refreshing in this day and age, YMMV...
  17. well, it's official, i MUST have that new Miku Hatsune Figma hell or high water... EDIT; preordered at AmiAmi.com, $31.00 less shipping EMS TBD, OCT. street release...
  18. anyone with PS3 and PSN, and any warm fond memories of yore needs to DL "DOUBLE DRAGON NEON" right this minute. look it up if you have to. if you're the sort that waxes nostalgic over Chop-Socky films back in the day, old-fashoned "Beat-Em-Up" Video Games, and/or 1980's pop-culture stereotypes in general, you will immediately "get" this sucker and have a total blast. trust me on this...
  19. they sure do look like promotional pins. peculiar subject matter for such a promo item, but whatever...
  20. oh yes; if there is one thing that the almighty 1/60 VF-1ver.II needs a full revision of, like all of YAMATO/ARCADIA's many MACROSS VF products, it is most certainly the box art. ARCADIA marketing staff; please refer to BANDAI 1/100 VF-1 HI-METAL and 2013 1/72 VF-1 PLAMODEL for ideal examples to aim for, IMHO...
  21. i presume you meant Lead Time?
  22. well, if nothing else, i'm getting some rather unintentional point-n-laugh comedy out of Tales of Graces. i was really looking forward to this entry in the Tales series, but it simply seems that the writers here either had no clue what the hell they were trying to convey, just simply didn't care what they were trying to say, or perhaps both at once. as a result, Graces' entire storyline is just plain Stupid. often hilariously so. god, i pray NAMCO/BANDAI doesn't shaft me yet again with the upcoming Tales of Xillia...
