probably the same wannabe macho beefcakes that think the STREET FIGHTER IV chara redesigns are totally hella-awesome...

no way at all that you could afford to replace her with another? after all, she IS your A-1 favorite, right? my advice; get yourself that other one in that listing, hell with the price, and this time, put her in a permanent place where she is GUARANTEED to be safe, little fall or no... ♥She'd be plenty good enough for me♥ it's only natural though, that YAMATO would start to branch out like this; they won't be able to make their daily bread on Kanzen Henkei MACROSS VFs forever, and Moe Musume figures and statues are, and probably have been, for quite a number of years now, the most lucrative "Toy" market in japan, by far...

pretty much finished... outside of cleaning up a few of those fine details, such as the purse strap, and such not quite sure what the whole "Deer caught in Headlights" expression on her face is all about, did i F%$k up on it somehow, or was it just BANDAI's silly sculptor back in the early 80's? i dunno. Anyway; ((( EDIT ))) OKAY... i THINK i MIGHT have figured it out. those AREN'T supposed to be a lower set of teeth, after all. jeez, though; i just had a HELL of a time this morning here, trying to correct that, without making her end up looking like a Vampire that just finished her meal... lol; Dammit, NOW she looks like she just got caught with her hands in the Cookie Jar! S&%t! maybe it's the camera angle, i don't know... OKAY!! this is more like it!! still looks rather weird in the photo, to my eye... but she definitely looks just about right now, in the flesh, so to speak;

no, i suppose not. still, there ARE some beautiful things to be found out there in the Anime world of recent years, once you look beyond all that soulless pandering, anyway...

"Moe" isn't COMPLETELY without merit, just saying. OF COURSE, just as with most anything else in this world, Beauty IS INDEED in the subjective eye of the beholder, and, of course, one DOES INDEED have to wade through A LOT of crap to find every gem or three out there...

indeed, Haruhi alone has contributed many great things to this old-school fan's fandom, most notably, ♥Her♥ http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll310/shaorin-chan/My%20Little%20Mikuru/MikuruWeddingWishes2-23-121.jpg

just got that Minky Momo figure kit around a week back. mostly finished with her, as can be seen; -the hardest part so far? those 30-year old Eye decals. they DID NOT want to leave the backing paper without a fight. THANK GOD i had MICRO SOL, MICRO SET and GLOSSCOTE LACQUER, else i would've been SO screwed...

true, that, to a certain degree, at least. after all, not ALL of those games were all THAT terrible...

Anime isn't what it used to be, actually... i myself was introduced to Anime through ROBOTECH, and suffered through Americanized ROBOTECH products and story. that said, i learned about the -Truth- quite early on, embraced it, and desired pure, unmolested MACROSS pretty much from the start. i just had to take what i could get at the time, (mid-90's) and most of what was available to me was either crappy 1/100 ARII VF-1 models, and/or ROBOTECH oriented. that didn't stop me from catching onto MACROSS II/MAC. PLUS, and Anime in general, however. thanks to the local SUNCOAST VIDEO i used to have, (went defunct around the mid-2000s) and i quickly learned that all the great Anime tropes we're all familiar with were new and exotic to me, yet clicked with me 100% right off. from then on, i drank in all the Anime-related material i could possibly get (not much, considering my family's location and financial state at the time) and by the early 2000's, with DVD and the Anime Boom it brought forth, it was time for the bounty, and boy was i ever ready for it. if there were any questions left about my Anime fandom, (which there really was none) it was the 2000's boom that cinched things with me. sadly, though, while there are still some good ideas to be found in today's Anime, for the most part, i tend to feel that it's best days are behind it, and what is left is largely empty, tasteless and uninspired. for instance, there are LOTS of very talented Moe artists out there, i see them all the time, but, unfortunately, i also see, all the time, most of that talent being wasted on attempts to dress up an otherwise no-talent, cardboard Video Game design, or on H-rated Dating Sims/Erotica that never sees the light outside of Japan. (and for good reason, doubtlessly) it's all sad, IMO, anyway, but it does not change the fact that there are more than three solid decades worth of quality Anime/Manga material out there to enjoy, even if only in hindsight, and, as a most dedicated, loving Anime fan, enjoy it i forever will...

i'm quite certain that you do. regardless, TG is an excellent "Stupid 80's Movie" with several things going for it, chief among them, getting to see all of those late, great F-14's strutting their stuff...

Damn Straight... TOP GUN was an Eighties experience, through and through. it was a product of it's time, and that's what what makes it so damned awesome. awesome period soundtrack+awesome period fighter jets+awesome period actors=awesome period movie. there simply is NO ROOM for a remake or sequel, IMHO. i just don't see how this sort of lightning could possibly ever strike twice, especially today... more like DEFINITELY be CGI. EVERYTHING's CGI rendered these days, and we're all the poorer for it... GOD, EXACTLY how I myself feel. AMEN, Bro...

AWESOME Welcome to the Fold!! (no puns intended)

yeah, the 'ol Yammie 1/60v.II kind of has that effect on people, i think. i mean, in all honesty, the 1/60v.II truly is just about as exacting as you can get with a fully variable VF-1 replica, and that's EXACTLY what most fans want. there are, of course, the minority out there, that are quite dissatisfied with the overall lines required in the 1/60v.II to give it is well balanced and precise fit in all three forms, and would rather have a "Stylized" VF-1 fixed in one of it's three modes, and optimized for the best possible "Look" for whatever mode the model is fixed in. for those realitive few, thse HASE's are surely a dream come true. for anyone else however, nothing less than a highly accurate, fully finished, well-balanced fully variable toy-like replica will do for them, and, to be honest, i can hardly blame them. plastic modeling skill, even to standards of earl YAMATO offerings, is NOT an easy skill to learn, let alone master, and very few these days have the time, patience or even the natural skill to accomplish much to be proud about on a $50.00+ unassembled model kit. in sum, today, plastic modelling is very much a niche market. and with the high quality and highly realistic finished toy/replica offerings by YAMATO, MACROSS plastic modelling is a small Niche within an already tiny Niche fanbase. just my POV, pay no mind...

yeah, i was a BIG SPIDER MAN head back in the mid 90's, though my nascent Anime Fandom was already beginning to creep in. IIRC, the only LIEFIELD drawn comic book i had had in my collection was an issue of YOUNGBLOOD. i got a TON of misc. from these $5/$10 20 and 50 pack comic assortments that TOYS R' US was stocking in the mid/late 90's there. i built up a tidy collection of mostly crap, and, around a year ago, i hauled it in to my local comic shop- ("INFINITE FRONTIERS" Kennewick, Wash.) -and got $80 in store credit for the lot. a good deal, to me, as that collection was, in my eye, one of the foolish mistakes of my adolescence, that sat around taking up space and reminding me of a lesser period of my life...

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Shaorin replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i've really been thinking about giving MAHOROMATIC a shot one of these odd days, and your claim that it possesses a "Satisfying" ending is encouraging. as an aside, i had always wished someone would have made an 11' doll of Mahoro-chan♥ or, at the very least, a halfway decent 1/8 scale figure... -
as a guy who spent his teens in the 90's, going through a U.S. Comics phase, i happened to have found this positively HILARIOUS; http://www.progressi...robliefeld.html feel free to share thoughts...

it's great to have an SLR. they really kick A$$, eh? myself, i stepped up to my first, a NIKON D5000, back in mid-2009. couldn't be happier with it!!

Don't like the rainbow coating on the V2 1/60 VF-1 canopy?
Shaorin replied to Kyp Durron's topic in The Workshop!
UPDATE - it's taking multiple applications, but i think it's working... -

Don't like the rainbow coating on the V2 1/60 VF-1 canopy?
Shaorin replied to Kyp Durron's topic in The Workshop!
not an overly grand idea. the coating is infamous for losing it's integrity. (ie; developing cracks and chipping away) -this is exactly why YAMATO has discontinued the coating on their subsequent releases... i'm about to finally come into ownership of a very reasonably priced 1st Ed. 1/60v.II 1S Focker, suffering the infamous canopy coating cracking, and, to be honest, the coating on my 1J Hik T.V. is actually beginning to show signs of the same. as such, i'm considering attempting complete removal of the coating, via Q-TIPs saturated in medical grade 91% ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL. this stuff is AWESOME for removing adhesive goo, cleaning the tape path of VCRs and audiocassette decks, and WILL dissolve fully dried TAMIYA COLOR right off of ABS plastic, without visually affecting integrity of the material... -
please do, for your sake, as well as your model's. "TAMIYA COLOR" coats like a dream, dries lickety-split, and actually smells pleasent, to boot. those guys really know their paint chemistry. (did i mention their wonderful wide-mouthed jars?)

you mean those two-tone blue GE decals?

i guess that means i can get away with mounting a pair of PHOENIXes, right where i have shaved away the molded-on SPARROWs on the outboard pylons of the REVELL 1/48 F-14D i've been working on. ((i felt that mounting the four PHOENIXes on the undercarriage, as dictated in the instructions, kind of spoiled the lines of the fighter, and, while i HAVE been considering leaving the model bare of missile armament, i've also been considering mounting a PHOENIX and a SIDEWINDER on each outboard pylon, and if i could plausibly get away with that, then i think i might just go on ahead... ))
-
so how big is this thing now, actually? ((EDIT)) i had just picked this up the other day for my 1/72 HASE F-14. $10.00 flat sure sounded quite peachy to me, no?

well, after many many months of my previous wallie, which i truly love so dearly, i've finally happened across something that has actually compelled me to change, however reluctantly;
