  1. i'll have to compensate for that at the knees then... why not try dogging down the screws at the knee joints? i've done just that on some other Mecha toys i've had/have, and it often did wonders to some of their sloppier joints...
  2. well yeah, most of my experience is with that gawdawful -19k, my favorite MACROSS toy (up until i got my first 1/55 right around 2000/2001ish) i did get myself a 1/65 VF-17D a couple years after that -19k, and i agree, while certainly not perfect, it comes much closer to the ideal than the almighty 19k could on it's best day. still, my love for the -19 series VFs, and desire at the time for a quality non-parts-forming variable 19 model and/or toy placed the atrocious 19k well ahead of the 17 and it's "Guppyish" FIGHTER mode. today, i wouldn't mind a 1/60 VF-17S or D at all, but if i were ever to acquire one, it would be after the VF-19S and (preferably) the VF-11B. all that said, i still have both those old BANDAI 1/65s put away somewhere, doubt i could even give them away these days...
  3. indeed. the only MACROSS products BANDAI has ever produced that can take the average child's ham-fisted handling are the old 1/55 VF-1's and their reissues, and those aren't even BANDAI's original design. there are the M7 1/65's, which are only somewhat less durable than the 1/55 VF-1 series, but they pretty much completely lack the sentimental quality that helps veteran MACROSS fans to live with their generally fugly "chunky-monkey" -ness. that, and they are honestly far more ill-proportioned than the 1/55s ever were, IMHO, anyway...
  4. 91% isopropyl from WAL-MART will do the trick. EASY DOES IT, though; the alcohol will mar any paint-work it contacts!!
  5. i'l be joining the -19S club soon myself... now, i don't personally foresee the 1/60 VF-19 series ankles being a real issue for me, as i'm not the big "Nose-Down Aggressive GERWALK" fan that most members around here seem to be. i prefer a more neutral, level-plane GERWALK stance, which should be no problem whatsoever for the -19S ankles, correct?

  8. an easy conclusion for a casual MACROSS fan to surmise, i suppose. imagine, if you will, the decades of collective dreams, for a modern, high-precision VF-1 replica, while BANDAI and a tiny handful of of garage kit mfrs. toss out a smattering of reissues of flawed, ancient model kits and fixed pose resin kits every five/seven years or so, and that's just discussing the VF-1 series itself. imagine those also interested in MACROSS PLUS, and having to make do with craptastic BANDAI MACROSS 7 toys and models in order to get their Y/VF-19 series fix, with but a tiny, highly skilled elite of pro modellers given any real alternative (S.H.E. variable YF-19/-21/-11B resin kits) imagine that for the barest moment, if you will. now, imagine a company coming along, -after 20 long years of tired MACROSS lip service from BANDAI and the others- to service MACROSS with as much dedication as BANDAI has always shown for their GUNDAM franchise. sounds like the wildest dream come true for the average MACROSS fan, does it not? fast forward ten years, and see this company go beyond every MACROSS fans wildest dreams, producing not only a VF-1 replica far beyond what anyone could have dared hope for in 25 years, but to go beyond even that lofty goal to realize most every major VF design Kawamori-san ever dreamed up, including some of his most "Anime Magic" ridden designs, in full "perfect transformation" scale replica form, all of these incredible variable Mecha designs, that no one really realistically thought for one moment could ever be so accurately rendered in three physical dimensions, realized, with such unbelievable virtuosity. now then, please consider all this, and tell us, once more, how "Ridiculous" our collective "Addiction" and the seeming Paranoia over it all suddenly fading into history, really seems to you. this dedicated MACROSS fan, for one, is scared Shitless...
  9. thanks a ton!!
  10. and rather fugly faced ones, at that, IMHO. that's from a BIG Asian-doll lover, too!! GEEZ GUYS YOU'RE FREAKIN'ME OUT!! i mean, i was just about to gear up to afford myself a 1/60 VF-19S@$175shipped within the next few months. i hope to god my source stays at that price...
  11. i've heard that those 1/48 variable LEGIOSS are a real bitch to work with, though. i've also heard that those kits are allegedly far too complex for their own good, and that the 1/55 TOYNAMI MASTERPIECE ALPHAs are directly based upon those kits' design, and that that fact was chiefly responsible for the multitude of issues those ALPHAs suffer from...
  12. STERN; "any tighter and we'll be eating blades!" SCHEIDER; "WE'RE FOLLOWING HIS LEE-DAH!!" (LEADER) ME;
  13. exactly what i look forward to. for something of a sneak-peek, compare my Yammie 1/60v.II -1J Hikaru T.V. to my BANDAI 1/72 HCM of the same;
  14. my own GUNHED LEGO model (in rough 1/35) i built some years back; (yes, it's transformable)

  16. got this fairly decent "KITECH" chinese repro of the old MONOGRAM 1/32 "BLUE THUNDER" assault Heli (from the 1983 movie of same name) coming my way in the next couple weeks. my favorite fantasy helicopter from my childhood!! should turn out something like this;
  17. damned near everything is better than BAYFORMERS, IMHO...
  18. "TRON" 2001 20th Anniversary DVD Edition;
  19. Meh, you guys are all boring anyhow...
  20. Ahhh, who cares? if this comes into being, it'll be just another forgettable Hollywood Popcorn Flick. if it does not come into being, we'll all be spared yet another Hollywood Popcorn Flick. in either case; Yawn, life Goes On. YMMV, as always...
  21. hey, don't sweat it; neither can i. it's a personal insult of high magnitude that the 'ol F-14 has been fully outmoded by the F-18 and the gawdawful (IMO) F-22...
  22. since when? YAMATO did a GUYMELEF ESCAFLOWNE all right, but the actual Die-Cast content was hardly extensive, thank god. high die-cast metal content is not a particularly conducive element to be complementing modern day design work on complex, physics-defying transforming toys. structural die-cast in key potential weak points is the most any die-cast lover should logically hope for in any of today's CAD/CAM transformational origami wonders, that is, unless you actually want to spend several hundred dollars on a complex model-like toy that crumbles under it's own weight after a few transformations at best...
