  1. i just paid $180ea. shipped for my two 1/60 VF-19S, the first one to display and enjoy, the second as insurance policy against anything going wrong with my first. $180 is pricey for me. one hell of a lot more reasonable than the $300 that these toys originally MSRPed at, to be sure, but still premium priced all the same. granted, both my copies entered my possession scratch-free out of the box, but both also had the very same part fall loose from the shoulder pauldron that i had to superglue back into place. kind of ridiculous for a $300.00 adult collectable toy? Sure. am i gonna get on the net and rage about it? Not a Chance. this "toy" has seen a lot of futzing around and transformations from me. it's gotten a little rough around the edges as a result, and seen a minute degree of paint-chipping as a result. as such, even if it had arrived with a little surface scuffing out of box, i wouldn't have been overly butt-hurt over it. after all, it would have been just as likely to accumulate such defects under the use i was intending to put it through. all the same, it is regrettable that such "defects" make their way past QC to final shelf product these days. still, it is to be expected from enrolling what was once a third-world nation (until quite recently) to wholly manufacture most everything us first-world consumers of the world desire, including our premium priced adult toys...
  2. i always did want an MPC RIDE ARMOR... never did get around to taking the opportunity whenever i had it. i suppose they're impossible to find now; i'd prefer the RAND the best... the blue sets off much nicer IMHO...
  3. indeed. to me, the 1/60 VF-19F/S is as realistic as it gets... for a MAC-7 Valk anyway...
  4. VFs that are actually popular and will actually sell in numbers is a major factor in what sees the light of day as a mass-market KANZEN-HENKEI release, and just about any iteration of the 19 series is infinitely more popular then either of those designs, especially in japan...

    Macross figures

paid for my July preorder from NIPPON-YASAN. my 1st ever Ranka-chan!!
  6. - and a second, spare 19S arriving probably tomorrow. my favorite Yammie product, simply gorgeous engineering...
  7. i'll see how other members fare with their finished examples of this "Disasterpiece" before i consider a copy myself. perhaps i'll pick up the Focker 1S. if i miss that boat, i'll wait for the Ichijo 1J T.V.
  8. they all have metal bodies?
  9. you mean the rider's seat-armature, like on mine? mine broke cleanly in half, so ot provided a clean re-join. i handle it gingerly, and it seems to be holding...
  10. meh, just another punk-ass. they're a dime a dozen out there...
  11. picked myself up a second VF-19S from HKC. should be arriving today or tomorrow. i adore this design so much that i couldn't find myself living without at least one spare copy...
  12. the arm linkage for the rider's seat on my MZ-1 1stEd. just snapped on me. i've glued it, and it seems to hold, but perhaps you could draft up a SHAPEWAYS replacement, pretty please Veef?
  13. about to break into Fate; Stay/Night for the first time. heard some good things about this one, though i've never thought to give the show a spin 'till now. i sure do like Saber-chan♥ a whole lot though...
  14. the nosecone is too stubby and far too steep in it's taper, IMHO. also, frontal gear is in the wrong place. (how the HELL is that thing supposed to fold closed?!?) and the tail fins look really screwed up too...
  15. had to get replacement shoulder units from Yammie USA a few years back for my 1sted. MZ1 GARLAND Shogo ver. and, besides a good deal of paint chipping, there has not been a problem one. going to have to pick up a set of Veef's joint parts soon though, if for nothing else than to cure that paint problem...
  16. -1S head unit is too bulbous. why couldn't they have followed Yammie's example? head unit proportions on all the 1/60v.II variants are just right, IMHO... exactly why has BANDAI been so insistent lately on making half to 2/3 of everything MACROSS related that they produce look like total Arse?!? it is as if they were intentionally slapping their backside towards Yammie's engineering staff and MACROSS fans in general at the same time!!
  17. indeed, the 1/60 VF-19's are most fiddly. a lot of massaging to get everything just so. put a dozen transformations under your belt, and familiarize yourself with where and how to put pressure to seat everything properly, and the whole works will go right together smooth as butter before you know it...
  18. i'm getting pretty desperate here for halfway enjoyable PS3 JRPGs; finally gave in and picked up STAR OCEAN IV the other day for cheap, despite my long held impression of the game as merely a poor re-tread of SO III...
  19. i don't have one, just a copy of the original 1985 HCM VF-1J insparation. i guess i'll take your word on this, since you have hands on experience with the MPC, but this new 1/72 just seems that repulsive to me, considering BANDAI has YAMATO's irreproachable 1/60V.II lead that they should be following, at least so far as overall general lines and proportions are concerned. i mean, i don't mind an alternative take on the design all that much, but going willfully Bass-Ackwards with engineering like BANDAI is going here... NOT a great idea AT ALL, BANDAI...
  20. the series could be rather cute, you know. juvenile, to be certain, but often quite adorable all the same. a great idea on the whole, IMHO...
  21. Nahhh, i do not think so. i mean, no offense to this thing's fans around here, but it nearly makes the TOYNAMI 1/55 look good by comparison, IMHO. seriously; at least that turd has some serious HCM old-school vibe going on for it to half-excuse it's multitude of physical disabilities. nope, no way, no-how; 'ol BANDAI's going to have to try one hell of a great deal harder to give the 1/60v.II any sort of run for the money. Easy Pass...
  22. that is nasty... in related news... i just bagged myself a second VF-19S from HKC. should arrive in four days or so. i'll be sure to check it out thoroughly; i want this to be a reliable spare piece to guard against anything happening to my first copy, which has seen so many transformations it's scary, yet is holding up like the proverbial trooper all the same. really; i just love this piece so much... my favorite Valk toy ever...
  23. Well, Kawa-sama had to be getting his inspiration for MAC-7 from Somewhere, after all...
  24. that would be quite nice... on a $1000.00 1/48 DX CHOGOKIN toy...
