  1. Regardless of the animation being good or poor, the episode has a lighter side that takes the tense feeling off from the previous one. It was a more playful episode for viewers to sit back and enjoy. I actually like it a lot since there are lots of elements in it that goes further into Alto, Sheryl and Ranka's character. I assume that valk mounted on Mihoshi High School is Hikaru's VF-1S, since the original VF-1A got wrecked pretty badly after saving Minmay. It would be weird if Sheryl turns out to be the ace pilot in this series. Ozma gets killed in a pineapple salad episode and Sheryl becomes Skull Leader. Take that Alto Hime!
  2. That VF-25 sure looks nice! I hope it comes with a superpack and armor set later on.
  3. I will see if I can get some new photos of the Macross City set and put it up in the Galley section this weekend. But I am thinking about building Macross Frontier's San Francisco neighborhoods in the future. With trolleys.
  4. Testor's dull coat spray in a can. Their product number is #1260. This is available at most hobby supply store. Don't forget to mask any glass (cockpit) and lights or else it will become hazy.
  5. Hey misterryno, I used an exacto knife for cutting around the blank areas of the decal. Then I used a flat over coat to seal it in. Use a new blade when doing this. The decals are tough and don't cut as easily as waterslide decals. I used both Yamato's stickers and Anazasi's waterslide decals in various places. But the waterslide decals have a slight haze if not bonded down properly. So I switched to the stickers which blend to dark surfaces better. Next project, more Macross sets for a few members here.
  6. Wow, I finally got the armor set repainted and applied all the decals. Again, the color is painted to a more darker military gray with a deeper red too. Here are the photos of the results. Hikaru on patrol in Macross City. Looks like a lost tourist. Ready! See you at the next Deculture!
  7. Well, the train store near my home has an "O" scale cola machine. It is a red modern Coke machine for $7. With cola machines being so popular in Macross, it would be a nice addition next to Roy's desk.
  8. Again Miriya, that's really awesome! Where in the world did you find a 1/48 scale desk set?
  9. Ok! Seriously, here is what I have been working on besides Alto's paper plane. I am repainting the 1/48 GBP-1 armor for the Hikaru VF-1J. Here are a couple of photos of the chest piece right out of the box. Now with a coat of dark gray and flat red with all the decals added. The decals are a pain! I cut around the decals after applying them on the surface and removed any excess material. That way, it looks cleaner. A final coat of flat clearcoat help keep the gloss to a minimum. More later....
  10. Here's my first Macross Frontier creation... It actually flies pretty far. I'll have to try it out at the top deck of the Griffith Observatory someday.
  11. Hey, that is very awesome. It must have took a long time to detail and weather it like that? Again, very nice work on the Tomahawk neptune.
  12. Wow Miriya! That is better than I had ever expected. It really looks like something Yamato would have set up in their corporate museum or for their major toy conventions. You really did a fanastic job on the setup. The way the lighting is gives it a realism look to the set. It is awesome that the support crew fits so naturally well in this setting. It's cool that you gave Miriya's VF-1J a mixed combination of armor and super pack. I haven't seen that before. I believe that same gantry can fit a 1/60 red Yamato Q-rau. That's assuming Klan Klan wants to drop by for repairs. Glad you are happy with it. I got a couple of orders so far. I will probably make each diorama a little different to give each one a unique appearance.
  13. What's with all the blood bath and body count talk? It is Macross and not a Shakespear play. They already killed off Gilliam so Alto can step into his shoes. At this point, getting rid of another main character is not going to help the three main characters (Alto, Ranka and Sheryl) develope. So the next episode will be more of Alto improving his flight skills and SMS team work. We might learn more about Ozma and Katherine's past relationship. We might also learn more about the Galaxy fleet and their mecha. Ranka gets to sing more. New characters might be introduced to stir the love triangle a bit, Sheryl's ex-boyfriend or someone like that.
  14. Thanks, I never did post that video link anywhere in this forum. That was my first animation video with a couple of my old sets. Here is the video link to the second one I did with Max and Miria before they fight their way into the SDF-1. I might do a third video when I get some time in. Maybe a Macross Frontier animation with Alto's VF-25 and Klan Klan's Pixie squadron training in the asteroid belt. So many projects, so little time....
  15. WOW! She's big! I mean in 1/60 scale...
  16. Well moving away from all this talk about Ozma's possible demise in some future episode, I can see that Mikhail and Klan Klan fighting side by side in the next episode, similar to Max and Miria. Those two just need a knife fight in park to let their real feelings for each other out. Either that or settle it at their local game arcade. Ok back to Ozma is going to die topic... If Ozma gets fatally injured in the next episode, then Luca will obviously die in the following episode in an omni-directional shield explosion.
  17. I do expect that to happen. The writers will have to make Ranka as equal as a love interest to Alto as is Sheryl. The triangle has to be equally balanced to keep the drama. We can tell from previous episodes that Alto wants to protect Ranka and cares for her. But we cannot tell right now if Alto sees Ranka as anything more than just a good friend. He does seem to be very playful with Sheryl and Sheryl is vulnerable in front of Alto. But seriously, Ranka and Sheryl just can't compete with the VF-25 when it comes to Alto's love interest.
  18. After watching Ep# 6, it seems to me that Ranka will become more like Minmei, but slightly more humble. Sheryl will be more like Misa who is more mature and stronger in the face of uncertainty. And she seems to understand the seriousness of the situation that they are all in. I would see that Alto will more likely end up with Sheryl at the end. Those two just have better chemistry and their relationship is deeper. Ranka, from Alto's point of view, is just a good friend; even though Ranka sees it as a lot more than that. And Alto doesn't want to hurt Ranka's feelings when it comes to the subject about Sheryl. What I would like to see in Episode 7 is what types of valks that Galaxy have in their fleet. Do they have VF-171s and VF-25s? Or are they flying VF-19/21? Do they have another branch of the SMS to fight for them? So many questions....
  19. Here's what's lying on my workbench. I just finished putting a very light weathering finsh on Hikaru's 1/48 VF-1J. All the decals are applied and trimmed to eliminate all the excess material. The feet and gunpod are repainted with a different shade of gray. Finally, a dull clearcoat was applied to seal in the decals and give it a more realistic finsh. But I am not done with this valk yet. I am repainting the VF-1 armor set, to match the TV colors, that will be installed on this valk. The original plastic color is a bit too much on the blue side. And the red and white pieces looks translucent in their bare plastic state. I will put some photos up soon of the armor set!
  20. I voted for Klan Klan. She seems to be a pretty good looking and more mature than Sheryl and Ranka. Plus, there's something about a large girl that I definitely dig.
  21. Well if Alto had offered her that piece of paper to write with, then what will he make his airplane with? Hmm....probably not with that giant pair of pan... OK, never mind on that!
  22. Thanks. I am actually going to build a similar set for Macrossman in a few weeks. It will take 5-6 weeks to finish. This will be a partially assembled set, so that it can be shipped in a smaller package. Then Macrossman will have to put it together to finish the set. But I am sure I will get it done way before MacrossCon 2008 starts.
  23. The guy, with the hat and funny glasses, who yelled "Deculture!" when Ranka started singing looks like the owner of the Game Center in the original SDF Macross. This is when Max and Miria's game was put onto the big screen.
  24. So that was a Minmei doll that Ranka threw across the room.
  25. Was that a Minmei doll that flew pass Ozma before he gets hit in the face with a frying pan?
