So I have been traveling for work recently and it took a while to get this ARII 1/72 scale Tactical Pod Glaug completed. I modified the hip joint area by adding a couple of ball joints from a Yellow Submarine kit. This allows the legs to face different angles rather than just pointing straight ahead. Here are a couple of early photos. The smaller Glaug is a Bandai 1/100 scale version added for comparison. The 1/72 scale version stands about 11.5 inches (29cm) tall. It's a big kit. I will put up better photos with better lighting when I get a chance.

I don't see the figures that goes with this VF-1D. I hope it comes with Hikau (in orange flight suit) and Minmei as seen in previous photos.
-
Very nice VF-1D indeed! Yamato totally missed the boat by not making a 1/48 VF-1D.

The dark green version looks like a better than the brighter colors. The military gray version on the front of the Imai model kits from the 80's looks good too. I do wish Yamato would have made the Tomahawk with a Catepillar yellow, similar to the Defender's. But I will probably get one and paint it in cannon fodder color or a light brown color with weathering.

It is a WAVE SDF-1 custom with the Daedelus and Prometheus from an old Imai kit. Maybe WAVE will make a TV version later on.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<

Episode 3 packed lots of action. Lockon 2.0 said he has never operated more than a forklift, but that was clearly not so once the shooting started. And why is Marina-hime seems in a constant state of depression? She could of at least be joyful to see Setsuna again and alive. -
Hey ruskii, I do have a WAVE TV 1/5000 SDF-1. I was planning to build Macross City 2 around it with the lake surrounding the ship. It will be a project for next year.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models

The clear parts will become dull when that is applied. Put some masking tape over these areas will prevent them from looking like frost on glass. -
Overall, it is a very nice F-14A. 1/100 scale is tough to work with though.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<

So is the new Lockon Stratus (Jean 1) a double agent? Tieria seems to pick up on that while everyone else is less suspicious. -
I am not really affected yet with my toy fund. I have been careful with my money during the economic boom times so to fill in for the down times. Actually, this is a good time to get the toys that you always wanted on Ebay. This is because the bids will be lower and there will also be less people bidding for those items. Also, more people will be putting their things up for sale which will saturate the market. This will lower prices even more. I would not invest in toys for financial reasons, but it is a good investment into ones happiness and well-being.

Here is the Yamato "Ver. 2.0" 1/60 VF-1S with Super Pack parts with repaint and weathering. The pack has been repainted in a dark military gray over the slightly greenish gray plastic that came in the box. All the stickers have been added. This is the TV version with the UN Spacy kite on the side and Roy in his gray/blue trimmed flight suit. Again, the panel lines on the super pack are really shallow and difficult to see without some highlighting. I hope the panel lines are a little deeper for future VF-1 variants.
-
I used a really diluted solution, like 1:30 with water. It is almost transparent, but requires a few applications before the results appear. A fine brush is need to apply to the panel gaps. It is a little time consuming though.
-
Yep! Simply put, brush on a light solution of weathering paint over the panel lines. Use cloth of paper towel to dab off any excess paint. For the panel line paint, I used a weathering paint I got from a train store. It is called "Steam Power Black" by Testor for their Polly Scale Model Railroad Colors. It is a water based paint, so it is not messy. But practice this one another model kit first. Some of the grey colors on the valk were repainted, like the exhaust, intake and gun pod. A light coat of dull clear coat was applied over the whole plane. Just remember to tape off the canopy, lights and head visor. And that should do it.

Here is the Yamato Ver.2.0 1/60 scale VF-1S with light weathering. The panel lines in this 1/60 version is very shallow compare to the 1/48 version. It is almost not visible. Some slight repaint of a few parts were also done to lower the "plastic look" factor.

From the album: Destroid Collection
This is a 1/100 scale Bandai Tomahawk Destroid from their 25th Anniversary Macross kit. The arms and feet move, but the missile bank on the shoulders do not open. I noticed that the feet on the Tomahawk is a bit narrower than the same type of feet on the 1/100 Phalanx. But for $7, I'm not complaining. -

Pretty nice custom Glaug for a first time kit building! Is it the 1/100 scale 25th anniversary kit? These kits are inexpensive and good for customizing with Sundowner or UK flags, like Mini Coopers. I do wish Bandai can bring back the 1/72 scale version.

Jarrod's Exhaustive Bandai VF-25F Review and Gallery
ron5864 replied to Jarrod's topic in Model kits
Sweet model kit! But HLJ seems to list this kit as "discontinued" by Bandai. -
It took about 7 days to finish or about 12 hours.

Here's what I have been up to... This is Kamjin's Zentraedi warship model by ARII in 1/20000 scale. This is another quick build. The model is small, about 5 inches (12cm) The ship can separate into two vehicles. It's too bad that ARII did not made a larger version of their Zentraedi ships. On to the next project.

Hell yeah! I just finshed a 1/100 Bandai Tomahawk model like 35 minutes ago. It's a bit small. So the Yamato 1/60 should be perfect. I would like repaint it and weather it a bit. Oh BTW, I'll post photos of the still drying Tomahawk model soon. Very soon!

Macross Frontier Final Episode Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
ron5864 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Just saw the last episode. Like most have said, it looked a bit rushed. However, it was very good and there were some open ended issues as well. Besides Alto's indecisiveness, what happened to the rest of the Galaxy fleet? Does Grace have another cyborg body stashed somewhere? Richard Bilrer has a photo of Minmei in his ring, what the heck does that mean? Leon is not dead, just arrested by the miltary police. Does this mean he will somehow escape and cause havoc again? I hope the movie is not like Macross 7 where it was just an episode that took place between the original episodes. It should continue a few months or years after epsiode 25. Anyways, that was my 2 cents...
