I read about the Robotech Maia MPC shadow fighters problems with parts breaking off. I am concerned that the Aoshima Legioss might be made at the same factory, hence, poor quality as well.
-
Does anyone know if the new Aoshima 1/55 Legioss (Alphas) are redesigned with CAD or are they just upgrades from the Robotech MPC Alphas? Secondly, can those Aoshima Alphas dock with the MPC Betas?

I would like to see Yamato make the Phalanx since it uses the lower half of the other destroids. The Spartan should be made as well since it was used a lot later on in the TV show.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<

So is Marina going to use the power of a song to stop the conflicts? Where have I seen that before in another anime. -
I am still putting together the structures and buildings. The street layout will be finalized after the buildings are finished. Ranka (1/72 scale) will be part of the set. I will probably add some battle damage to the VF-25 a little later. There are actually a lot of details to this diorama so it will be close to what was seen in Episode One.

More aircraft carrier info... It seems that the next aircraft carrier Gerald Ford (CVN78) is a hugh jump in improvement and technology. That ship is have the A1B Reactor nuclear power plant with three times the power to supply electrical power to the electromagnetic aircraft launch system, energy based weaponry and dynamic armor. I looked up dynamic armor on Aviation Week and this is what they say: "This month's Defense Technology International carries a piece (page 10) on electromagnetic armor. The idea is to blunt the impact of the high-speed jets of metal formed by shaped-charge warheads. The armor comprises two charged metal plates, spaced apart. The warhead jet shorts the two plates and the resulting electromagnetic force helps to break it up. The problem, Michael Dumiak reports, is providing enough power to achieve the desired effect." What it means is that the projectile gets a massive charge of electricity once it hits the first layer of outer armor, and the projectile turns into soft molten metal. It will then lose all penetrating effect on the second layer of armor since it will be a blob of puddy. Ok, so it is not the Pinpoint Barrier System. But better than adding thicker and heavier plating.

The George H.W. Bush carrier will still use the old steam catapult system to launch aircraft. The next generation of aircraft carrier will likely switch to the EMALS (Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System) to launch planes.

The article mentions the ship will carry F/A-18C Hornet, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet strike fighters, E-2C/D Hawkeye, EA-6B Prowler, EA-18G Growler and other future aircraft-carrier based aircraft. I hope "other future aircraft-carrier based aircraft" means VF-1, VF-1 Super Strike fighters and ES-11D Cat's Eye. It might happen, since it is suppose to be in service until 2059. By then it might even carry a few VF-25. Saturday, January 10, 2009 Navy to commission USS George H.W. Bush Sara A. Carter (Contact) Former President George H. W. Bush will be honored for his military career when the U.S. Navy commissions its new aircraft carrier Saturday at Naval Station Norfolk. The president's son, President Bush, will speak as the Navy commissions the 1,092-foot CVN-77, which will be named the USS George H.W. Bush. "The president is honored to participate in the commissioning of the USS George H.W. Bush both as the commander in chief and as a proud son," White House spokesman Carlton F. Carroll told The Washington Times. On Friday, workers finished the last details on the nuclear-powered carrier, which towers 20 stories above the waterline and has a flight deck width of 252 feet. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the 11 a.m. event Saturday, according to Navy officials. Dorothy "Doro" Bush Koch, the former president's daughter, will give the order to "man our ship and bring her to life," following tradition. Mr. Bush, 84, is a decorated Navy pilot in World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mr. Bush, who was then 18, decided to join the Navy. After finishing his 10-month course, he became the youngest naval aviator to that date. Mr. Bush flew the Avenger torpedo bomber in combat from the carrier USS San Jacinto. He nearly lost his life during an attack on enemy installations near Chichi Jima in September 1944, when his plane was hit by enemy fire and heavily damaged. Nevertheless, he completed a strafing run on the target before bailing out of the doomed craft. Mr. Bush parachuted into the sea and was rescued by the Navy submarine USS Finback. Mr. Bush flew 58 combat missions. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, three Air Medals and the Presidential Unit Citation, which was awarded to his squadron based on the USS San Jacinto. Los Angeles Capt. Kevin O'Flaherty, who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1981, will be the new carrier's first commanding officer. He will lead a crew of more than 5,500 men and women, including embarked air wing personnel, according to Defense officials. The USS Bush will initially homeport in Norfolk and be assigned to the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Construction of the 10th Nimitz-class ship began at Northrop Grumman-Newport News, Va., in September 2006. The ship will support the F/A-18C Hornet and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet strike fighters, the E-2C/D Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning aircraft, the C-2 Greyhound logistics aircraft, the EA-6B Prowler and the EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft, multi-role SH-60 and MH-60 helicopters and other future carrier-based aircraft, according to a Defense Department news release. The USS George H.W. Bush will be the 77th aircraft carrier to be delivered to the Navy since 1922, when the Navy commissioned the USS Langley. The aircraft carrier will be the 10th and final Nimitz-class sub and the ninth in the Navy's fleet.

This all started a few years ago when I made a few short animations (using Macross/Robotech figures and dioramas) for some buddies (also Macross fans) of mine. Then other Macross fans started asking for more. Therefore our group came up with more ideas. So here is a short teaser (25 seconds) of the next fan animation with some stills from the teaser. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNzMxkQ24ps By Macross Fans for Macross Fans.... Enjoy!

$172K + Dealer markup = $200K+ price. This thing better be the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy for that price. It would also be cool if U.S. dealers can sell a right hand drive version. -

Yup, I took the 1/60 VF-1 cockpit display panel sticker, trimmed it down, and applied to the VF-25. It is better than leaving it blank. I am not sure why bandai did not supply a display decal with kit. Here are some better photos with whiter lighting after all the paint and decals have dried. And yes, I am building a small Macross Frontier diorama set with a lot of the elements seen in the opening episode. It will probably take four months to complete.

The Christmas/New Years break was somewhat productive as I was able to get most of Alto's VF-25F done. This is VF-25 configuration is like the one seen in Episode One, right after Alto jumps into save Ranka. I actually painted most of the surfaces white and used decals or paint for most markings. The canopy was also chopped, because Gilliam ejected part of it earlier. Alto is in his school X-gear outfit. The gunpod was repainted with a dull bluish gray and the gun barrels were repainted with gunmetal paint. All part of a larger project...

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<

After seeing Shinji mopping for Louise, I just wish Chidori Kaname from Full Metal Panic to just swat him over the head to snap him out of it. (Alright, that thought was a little violent) Well, that goes for Setsuna too for not realizing Marina's feeling towards him. -
Well, I finally decided to get a new car after my SUV started having a lot of problems (stuck window, failed A/C, stuck door and so on), and it was leaking motor oil all over the place. Being close to 100,000 miles, I sort of expected this to happen to a British vehicle. So to take advantage of the global automotive crisis and to help out the world economy, I just bought a 2009 Mazda 3 with a very reasonable deal. Hmmm...should I add black and red vinyl stickers to match the VF-25F color scheme?

Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
ron5864 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Now that I look back at the series, the number 25 came up more than its fair share in the show. Here are some examples: VF-25 25 Episodes Alto died 25 times in the flight simulator Number 25 on the SMS jackets Macross Frontier 25th Migration Fleet There might be more, but that's what I caught so far. -
I am still building the Alto Vf-25. I noticed that using Tamiya Matt White (TS-27) to spray over the part covers up all the scratches and unwanted marks well. The color matches perfectly with the original plastic white. So I have parts that are painted and unpainted assembled. After spraying them with Dullcote, you can't tell which was which. Dullcote also seals in the decals from getting scratched or peeled accidentally. Man, those shoulder pad decals are a pain to put on properly. Seven applications of Micro Sol were needed to make the decal conform.

The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
ron5864 replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I am kind of interested in the Macross Quarter too. But it also depends on what scale they are going to produce it in. I imagine that it will be around the same size as the WAVE 1/5000 scale SDF-1. But I can probably accommodate a 1/72 kit, in my garage. -
I just got the 1/160 scale Arii Destroid Monster model kit not too long ago. These 1/160 scale kits are super rare (most are 1/200 scale) and a must for Macross collectors.
