From the album: Macross Frontier Diorama: Ranka's Rescue
Street View of street corner. -
Back in November of '08 I said.... "I will build another diorama with a different Macross theme for the MacrossCon next year. I already know what it is going to be and am now just starting to get the materials. It will contain more awesomeness than the Macross Island set. (Hint: Diorama set takes place in the year 2059) So stay tuned... " A promise is a promise.... so a sneak peek

Got it Miriya. Thanks. Now I just have to hope it doesn't rain that day. -

I hope there's a close by loading/unloading area...It would be difficult to carry a diorama across the campus without some sort unfortunate mishap. -

OMG....I just saw this. I will definitely register soon so I can get some free stuff. But...I am not sure if I can finish my Macross diorama in time. Crap! This is going to be close. Ron -
Hey Matt, That's pretty cool and lots of action for a small set up. Keep building it up. You can go to a model train shop and get N-scale accessories like cars and people for the set too. I believe the Revoltechs are smaller than the 1/100 scale stuff. Ron

Thanks Miriya, I bought this kit thinking that Bandai might have upgraded it to modern plastic model standards. But it was a handfull.

The kit is OK, but the fit is poor by today's standards. This kit was probably made from the same mold as the ones from the early 1980s. The parts were not made with computer aided design so expect the parts not to fit too well. I built one of these, 25th Anniversary Editon re-release, last year. It took some effort to sand down the mismatching surfaces and then filling in the gaps. Here is the result.

It is approximately 10 inches (25cm) long, 6.5 inches (16cm) high and 6.5 inches (16cm) wide. Either way, it is pretty large for a Macross kit. I have seen the 1/160 kit go for about $65 to $140.

Sorry about the long absence. Work really got in the way of any new projects. But here's the newly finish ARII 1/160 Destroid Monster HWR-00-MK II. Since this is an extremely rare kit, I took great care into building this and added Yellow Submarine ball joints at the hip in place of the standard bar hip joint. Custom decals and stickers were used along with some of the standard decals that came with the kit. The reason for using other decals is that the standard ones were a little too large and rough for the 1/160 scale size. Lots of sanding and putty were applied as this is a kit from the 80s with many ill fitting parts. So here is the final product after two months of work. Detail of the hip joint replacement. More photos in the Macross Model Gallery.

This is the very rare 1/160 scale ARII model kit. It took sometime to find one; therefore I took great care into building this Monster. The custom hip joints, by Yellow Submarine, gave the figure a better and more stable pose. The standard bar insert joints made the model look stiff and less action ready. Also, custom decals and markings along with some standard decals were used. The decals that came with the kit were a little rough and large that seemed out of place in certain applications. -
