This is probably what a "Robotech" Alpha would look like if it was a real continuation of the Macross series. hehe This is an Aoshima 1/48 Legioss AFC-01Z (Red Alpha) model kit repainted with cannon fodder tan color and decaled with UN Spacy markings. The Legioss/Alpha is glued to fighter mode since it is difficult to tranform due to the poor kit quality. Plus the paint will rub off if I did try to trandform it. It was a quick build too, so I did not bother to fill in some gaps between parts. I'm not sure if it is the same size as the Toynami 1/55 Robotech Alphas, but it is a lot smaller than the 1/48 VF-1A. It would be nice if the 1/55 Beta/Tread fighter can attached to it. Hmmm, maybe I should make a Macross Frontier SMS version...

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
ron5864 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I have postpone watching Banner of the Stars since it follows Crest of the Stars. So now, I have begun watching Crest of the Stars. After this, then I'll will watch Banner of the Stars, which is the continuation. Don't want to mess up the story or spoiler, like how I watched Gundam Zeta first before Mobile Suit Gundam. So I already knew who was going to survive into the sequel. -

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0

Started watching Banner of the Stars. It is kind of confusing in the beginning, but it is better now since I am on the 4th episode. Lots of large space ships attacking another group. No real cool mecha like a mobile suit or variable fighters. But the store seems to focus on the human emotions in a war setting. Also watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. I like it, even though the anime graphics are not today's standards. But the story is good and Amuro gets slapped and punched just in about every episode. Poor guy! -
Saw the first episode and it was really good. Started with an interesting setup that seems familiar with other Gundam series, except 00. The quality of the artwork and visual is extremely well done. I particularly like the 360 degree cockpit display as Marida was spinning around and you can see the sun spinning past behind her. I just hope they continue with the good story telling since high-end graphic can go only so far. I am curious at how Banegher seems to have loss his memory about his father. Probably we will know more in future episodes. Just hope he doesn't cry all the time like Kira Yamato.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
ron5864 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I had complained earlier about how difficult the missile batch is to paint correctly for Alto's Super VF-25F. I should have kept quiet and saved the complaint for the armored VF-25S. The number of missiles needed to be painted and detailed is probably close to 200. -

Watching Gundam Mobile Suit Zeta. Kamille, the Newtype human, seems to be confused about the world hence ending up all frustrated. This series is not as likeable as some other Gundam series because the storyline is not as solid. But I'll watch it to the end before making final judgement on it. -

Watching Black Cat. It's pretty good, but Sven's vocie sounds like Holland's from Eureka 7 or Ali Al Saachez from Gundam 00. I'm expecting Sven to yell out "Renton" instead of "Eve" in one of these episodes. -
How far can the knee joints bend? I'm wondering if it can crouch down like for loading and offloading of the pilot.

Hehe...thanks David, but the canopy is suppose to be clear. I believe the ambient lighting made it look a bit purple-ish. -

The RVF-25 has 99% decals. The only place where a sticker was used was on the radar dish. Bandai decals prints seems to be not very fine or rich in color. The stickers are no better. I wish the sticker print quality was as good as the Yamato's. -

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<
ron5864 replied to Chief Guld Goa Bowman's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I just saw the 00 movie trailer which left me with ONE big question. Was that Max's blue VF-22S (from Macross 7) when it transformed from fighter to battroid mode? If so, a VF-22S + twin fake GN Drive = epic win. -
Wow, that is epic. I want that box art for my wallpaper...

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
ron5864 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Since it was my first time building the super VF-25 kit, no one mentioned how difficult the missile batch was to make it look like a batch of missiles. Bandai could have made a dark plate that goes over the red molded missiles which would have been better looking. I was surprised (a pleasant one at that) to learn that the SMS display stand can hold more than the 1/72 VF-25. -
